Comrade Kim Jong Il enjoys art performance
Pyongyang, December 25 (KCNA) -- Comrade Kim Jong Il, supreme commander of the Korean People's Army, enjoyed an art performance given by the merited choir of the song and dance ensemble of the KPA on Tuesday.
Among the audience were KPA vice marshals Jo Myong Rok and Kim Yong Chun= generals Hyon Chol Hae, Kim Ha Gyu and Jang Song U= colonel generals Pak Jae Gyong, Ri Myong Su and Kim Tae Sik= and other generals and officers of the KPA.
The performance was also seen by Kye Ung Thae, Choe Thae Bok, Kim Kuk Thae, Kim Ki Nam and Kim Yong Sun, secretaries of the Workers' Party of Korea central committee= Choe Ryong Hae, first secretary of the central committee of the Kim Il Sung socialist youth league= Ri Yong Chol and Jang Song Thaek, first deputy department directors of the WPK central committee.
The artistes of the choir put on the stage "let us hold high the red flag," "ten million will become rifles and bombs," "we will defend the headquarters of revolution with our lives" and many other songs.
The performers sang of the wise leadership and noble virtues of comrade Kim Jong Il who is opening the greatest heyday of the army building, and vividly showed the proud militant course of the heroic Korean People's Army.
Comrade Kim Jong Il saw the performance and expressed great satisfaction over the successful performance given as befitting a militant art unit.
Saying that the artistes of the proud song and dance ensemble of the KPA have actively encouraged the army and people to a new victory through their revolutionary and militant art activities as befitting standard-bearers and trumpeters of struggle in each period and at each stage of the revolution, he highly praised their feats.
South Koreans defect to north
Pyongyang, December 25 (KCNA) -- Paek Hung Ryong (30) and his wife Jin Chan I (25) have come over to the northern half of Korea from south Korea.
Paek was born in Ryongsan district, Seoul and Jin Chan I in Kwanak district.
He worked his way through a middle school and left a university in mid-course. since then, he took different jobs before producing films as a representative of the "namnuri screen" from 1991.
Referring to the motive of his defection, Paek Hung Ryong said:
While producing and screening films in the south, I saw the north's films "the flower girl", "the nation and destiny" and others screened by students struggling for independence, democracy and reunification, when i learned about realities of the north and came to long for the socialist system in the north under which man-centred politics is administered, different from that in the south.
Morever, when i was abroad i heard from overseas compatriots that the north is a well-being society for the people. While reading the "theory on cinematic art", obtained from them, I realised that general Kim Jong Il is, indeed, the great leader revered by the nation and the master of literature and art.
"Convinced that the road to patriotism conducive to reunification of the divided nation even a little is to come over the north, I succeeded in coming to the north together with my wife," he said.
Kim Young Sam group denounced for "inspection of operational preparedness"
Pyongyang, December 25 (KCNA) -- Papers here today accuse the Kim Young Sam group of "beginning to "inspect operational preparedness of the whole puppet army from December 23.
It is ill-boding that the south Korean puppet clique are kicking up a war fever with the "inspection" allegedly to "intensively assess the operational capacity" of all their armed forces with the approaching of the new year, a news analyst of Rodong Sinmun says, and continues:
"Operational capacity" loud-mouthed by the puppets precisely means the capacity to carry out a war against the north. by "inspection of this capacity", they mean that they are examining war preparations against the north at the final stage. This move can be seen only on the eve of war. the "inspection" proves that they have already completed preparations to provoke a war against the north and have entered the stage of finally examining and finishing them.
It is clear that the Kim Young Sam group are trying to start a war against the north, unable to finish his term of office for the worst ruling crisis.
If the warmaniacs dare to ignite a war against the north, they will be burned to death in the flame kindled by themselves.
A signed commentary of Minju Joson says that if the traitor Kim Young Sam dare to start a war against the north, he will be crushed to pieces.
5th anniversary of comrade Kim Jong Il's election as supreme commander celebrated
Pyongyang, December 25 (KCNA) -- A meeting, a symposium and a gathering of pledge took place Tuesday to mark the fifth anniversary of the election of the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il as the supreme commander of the Korean People's Army (KPA).
It was stressed at celebrations that under the wise leadership of comrade Kim Jong Il the people's army has strengthened and developed into a-match-for-a-hundred-foes revolutionary armed forces prepared in politics, ideology and military techniques and has been discharging its honourable mission as a defender of the party, the revolution, the fatherland and the people.
Speakers at the meeting of youth and students in Pyongyang said they would actively volunteer to serve the people's army and perform fresh miracles and feats at all socialist construction sites.
At a symposium of officials and members of the general federation of trade unions, the speakers called on union organisations of all levels to actively assist the people's army, true to the party's policy on attaching great importance to military affairs, and make the traditional trait of amry-people unity prevail all over society.
A loyal meeting of pledge a performance and an evening dance were held by servicemen of the ministry of public security.
Meanwhile, similar celebrations were also held by the general federation of trade unions, the Union of Agricultural Working People and the Democratic Women's Union.
Tank presentation ceremony
Pyongyang, December 25 (KCNA) -- A ceremony for presenting tanks to a unit of the Korean People's Army was held on Dec. 24.
People in Mangyongdae district, Pyongyang, secured the tanks on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the election of the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il as supreme commander of the KPA.
Speakers at the ceremony noted that the tanks carry the pledge of faith to defend comrade Kim Jong Il with their lives and the warm patriotic sincerity of people in the district, who devoted themselves to further strengthening the national defence.
A voucher for the tanks was conveyed to the commander of the concerned unit of the KPA.
Historic work indicating way of accomplishing revolutionary cause
Pyongyang, December 25 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today dedicates a signed article to the first anniversary of the publication of "respecting the forerunners of the revolution is a noble moral obligation of revolutionaries", a famous work of the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il (December 25, 1995). the author of the article says:
In the work, comrade Kim Jong Il, basing himself on a scientific analysis of the brilliant realities of the Korean revolution and the historic lesson of the world socialist movement, clarified that only when the red flag of the revolution raised by the forerunners of the revolution is upheld generation after generation can the cause of the popular masses for independence, the socialist cause certainly win.
The great theoretical and practical significance of the work is that it raised respect for the revolutionary forerunners as an issue related to the noble moral obligation of the revolutionaries who fight for the cause of socialism and originally clarified that it is vital to the destiny of the revolution.
In the work, comrade Kim Jong Il vehemently denounced the renegades of the revolution for slandering the leaders of the working class and for tarnishing their exploits.

Great pictures of leadership over army
Pyongyang, December 25 (KCNA) -- A large number of people are now visiting the Korean Art Gallery.
A fine art exhibition is open here to mark the fifth anniversary of the election of the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il as supreme commander of the Korean People's Army.
On display are art works showing his contribution to the strengthening and development of the revolutionary armed forces.
The works are run through with the idea that the general Kim Jong Il is a military genius who brings up the soldiers of the people's army to be a-match-for-a-hundred fighters as well as a father who looks after all of them in his embrace.
Typical are Korean paintings "parental love at post", "the great general visits a women's coast artillery unit" and "visiting all the front" and an oil painting "cultivating grit of lifeguard men".
The Korean painting "parental love at post" vividly depicts the image of the tender-hearted father feeling the thickness of the padded military uniform of a soldier at a forefront post covered with snow.
The Korean painting "the great general visits a women's coast artillery unit" portrays the general who brings up soldiers of a women's coast artillery company defending a forefront post on the east coast of Korea to be a-match-for-a-hundred artillery women.
The painting reminds visitors of the fact that the general sent medicinal cream and salves of love to woman soldiers, anxious about their faces being chapped in the sea wind.
Seeing the art works showing comrade Kim Jong Il's leadership over the army, Kim on do, an officer of the KPA, said:
"The love of our supreme commander for the officers and men of the people's army is the noblest love based on the absolute trust in the revolutionary soldiers with rifles in their hands and his tender-hearted paternal love for them."

Pyongyang, December 25 (KCNA) -- Members of the United Confederation of Koreans (Kothongryon) in Kazakhstan held a film show at the DPRK embassy in Kazakhstan on Dec. 14 on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the election of the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il as supreme commander of the Korean People's Army.
Present at the show were vice-chairman Ju Yong Il of the International Kothongryon, chairman Ri Tong Chol of the Russian Kothongryon and Kothongryon delegates from different regions of Kazakhstan.
A photo exhibition on the subject of "supreme commander of revolutionary armed forces" was held at friendship house of the Almati Association for friendly and cultural relations with foreign countries on Dec. 14.
Members of Kothongryon, chiefs of compatriots' organizations in Almati and Kazak public figures saw photos with keen interest.
