Pyongyang, January 5 (KCNA) -- Spokesmen for the central committees of the General Federation of the Unions of Literature and Art and the Korean Journalists Union released statements on January 3 denouncing the Kim Young Sam group for ruthlessly cracking down upon the struggle of South Korean workers and people against the revised "Laws on the agency for national security planning" and the "Labour affairs". The spokesman for the C.C., the General Federation of the Unions of Literature and Art of Korea denounced the Kim Young Sam group's brutal crackdown as an unpardonable criminal act which adds to the anti-national crime committed by them by railroading evil laws through the "National assembly". The way for the South Korean workers and people to enjoy a genuine life is to fight uninterruptedly for the overthrow of the Kim Young Sam group, the statement said. The spokesman for the C.C., the Korean Journalists Union said: The Kim Young Sam group are alleging that the amendment was inevitable for "The improvement of the toiling people's living" and the revised laws "reflect the present situation under which the north and the south stand opposed to each other." But, with no sophism can they conceal their despicable nature as the fascist fanatics and truculent enemy of the nation. The statement urged the Kim Young Sam group to nullify the revised fascist laws at once as demanded by the South Korean people.

It is noble duty of Korean people tto defend socialism

Pyongyang, January 5 (KCNA) -- To defend socialism is the road of victory, glory and happiness and to abandon socialism means death, stresses Rodong sinmun in a by-lined article today. The daily says: To defend the Korean-style socialism is first of all a sacred work for safeguarding the benevolent administration that respects the dignity and personality of man to the fullest. Whether our socialism is defended or not decides that we are dignified as an independent people, or not dignified as slaves. We, mindful that defending socialism is the way of defending the dignity of man and abandoning it turns ourselves into slaves, should defend at cost of our lives the grateful socialist system, which has made the Korean people, who had once groaned as a ruined nation, very dignified. To defend our socialism is also essential for all the members of society to bring into full bloom the beautiful life of helping and leading each other, with the society forming a large harmonious whole. Our socialism is a large family where all the people value and love each other like their own brothers, holding the respected general Kim Jong Il in high esteem as their father. We should firmly defend our socialism, clearly seeing through the corruptness of capitalist society. Defending our socialism is the way of maintaining the noble spiritual world of man and making the whole country replete with a beautiful life full of love and trust, while abandoning socialism inevitably results in putting the people on the altar of all crimes and social evils. To defend our socialism is also a proud cause of safeguarding what enables all the people to enjoy a sound and bountiful life.

Japan's moves to revive militarism

Pyongyang, January 5 (KCNA) -- Official circles of Japan decided to conduct an active campaign for fixing the visit to Yasukuni Shrine. Commenting on this fact, Rodong sinmun today brands it as part of their dangerous moves to spread militarism over Japanese society. The news analyst goes on: The Japanese reactionaries are describing the dead in the past aggression and war as "Patriotic Martyrs" and "Internationalist soldiers" who fought for "Self-defence" and "Justice". This is a shameless distortion of history and a mockery of justice and human conscience. The rightists of the liberal democratic party of Japan are trying to fix the visit of the prime minister and ministers to Yasukuni Shrine. This is a scheme to regularize, legalize and socialize the visit. The Japanese reactionaries must give up the reckless moves to revive militarism.
