Rodong Sinmun praises S. Korean students' solidarity with workers
Pyongyang, January 22 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today says
the south Korean students' joining in the workers' strikes
for their vital rights and democracy is a very right action
which is a sign of the south Korean people's escalating
struggle against dictatorship and for democracy.
In a commentary the daily says the whole nation praises
and fully supports the students' solidarity struggle.
The south Korean people including workers and students
have the same desire for independence, democracy and
reunification, it notes. Therefore, it is natural that they
join each other in the struggle to realise their same
desire.
What the workers and students will lose in the struggle
against Kim Young Sam and the fascist laws is the fetters of
suppression and exploitation and what they will gain is
genuine freedom, rights and life, it says, adding:
The students under the South Korean Federation of
University Student Councils will continue fighting for
independence, democracy and reunification in solidarity with
the workers and other people.
Press conference called by Pyongyang mission of NDFSK
Pyongyang, January 22 (KCNA) -- The Pyongyang mission of
the National Democratic Front of South Korea (NDFSK) called
a press conference on January 21 to explain information on
the meeting of the standing committee of its central
committee.
The information on the meeting was distributed at the
press conference.
Chief of the mission Ri Jong Sang said that the vanguard
fighters of the NDFSK and south Korean people more deeply
felt the greatness of Secretary Kim Jong Il, who
firmly defended justice of the world and socialism, saved
the destinies of the nation and humankind, turned
adversities into favourable conditions and thus brilliantly
adorned the history of the era of independence last year.
Last year was a historic one when it was recognised as
the declaration of the times that the people's cause of
independence, the cause of socialism is sure to win as it is
guided by General Kim Jong Il, Ri Jong Sang said, adding:
The south Korean people more deeply realized that only
when they fight as indicated by the Juche idea, holding
General Kim Jong Il in high esteem, will the sacred cause of
independence, democracy and reunification certainly be
achieved.
The south Korean people, he further said, have the
unchangeable faith that the great leader President
Kim Il Sung is immortal in the hearts of the people and that
only when they are faithful to the guidance of General
Kim Jong Il will the victory and future be ensured.
Continued struggle declared in S. Korea
Pyongyang, January 22 (KCNA) -- The "Korean Confederation
of Trade Unions" called a press conference at the Myongdong
Cathedral on January 21, at which it accused the traitor Kim
Young Sam of showing no willingness to solve the
controversial issue and declared that it would go on a
general strike on January 22, according to a radio report
from Seoul.
Kwon Yong Gil, chairman of the confederation, denounced
the traitor Kim Young Sam for his utterances that the
"labour law" and the "law on the agency for national
security planning" were passed through "legal procedures".
He declared that they would fight it out until the laws
are abrogated.
Some 2,800 professors of 62 universities in south Korea
who had taken part in a signature campaign in protest
against the amended "labour law" and the "law on the agency
for national security planning" released a statement on
January 21 in demand of the total nullification of the laws.
The statement demanded that the "summit meeting of ruling
and opposition parties agree on the total withdrawal of the
"labour law" prohibiting the formation of more than two
unions at one work site and allowing companies to lay off
workers and of the "law on the agency for national
security planning" repressing the freedom of ideology and
expression.
If this demand is not met, not only the ruling party but
also the opposition political camp will be the targets of
public denunciation, it declared.
Letter to s. Korean literary men
Pyongyang, January 22 (KCNA) -- The Central Committee of
the General Federation of the Unions of Literature and Art
of Korea sent a letter to the south Korean people of
literature and art in connection with the south Korean
fascist clique intensifying the suppression of the
workers' massive struggle against the retrogressive revision
of the "law on the agency for national security planning"
and the "labour law", while trying to justify the crackdown.
The letter says that the suppression of the workers the
kim Young Sam group are escalating, linking their struggle
with the north, is nothing but an anti-democratic, anti-
national crime to further fascistize south Korean society
and force the slave labour on them by effectuating the evil
laws revised in a terrible atmosphere of confrontation
between the north and the south.
The men of literature and art are pioneers in denouncing
injustice and social evils and guides of justice and truth,
it notes, expressing the expectation that they will pave a
way of justice, a way of patriotism, togther with workers.

Pyongyang, January 22 (KCNA) -- The 11th Plenary Meeting
of the Central Committee of the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth
League was held in Pyongyang on January 20 and 21.

organizations to become victors in the forced march of

all become victors in this year's 'arduous march'!"
The meeting called for imbuing all organizations with the
Red Flag Idea of the Workers' Party of Korea and stressed
that the youth league organizations should strengthen
ideological education among the young people to encourage
them to become human bombs and rifles defending the leader.

organizations should enhance their role and increase their
the might as reserve combat units and detached force of
Secretary Kim Jong Il.
It called on the young people to bring about a great
upsurge in the socialist economic construction.
Morality and great man
Pyongyang, January 22 (KCNA) -- Jong In Suk, director of
a consultation office in south Korea, wrote an article
titled "Morality and great man" in appreciation of the noble
virtues of Secretary Kim Jong Il, the Seoul-
based radio voice of national salvation reported.
The article read in part:
South Korean society has turned into a barren land of
morality. Distrust and hatred among people have reached the
extremes and nobody knows when this society will collapse.
Unlike this society, the northern society is full of
human love and sound morality. All people in the north
regard their leader as the father of the nation and loyalty
to him as their highest moral obligation and remain
intensely loyal to President Kim Il Sung and Secretary
Kim Jong Il.
The people's loyalty to the leader is based on their
unique view of morality. The north is a mysterious land
where love for the country, comrades and neighbors is valued
as the most beautiful morality and people devotedly work and
even defy death for the sake of society, the collective and
their comrades.
What is the source of the morality based on human love?
President Kim Il Sung was the father of true
moral politics.
Secretary Kim Jong Il, while assisting the
President, put heart and soul into helping the people in the
north, splendidly trained by the President, to have more
beautiful moral traits.
On the basis of the man-centred Juche idea, General
Kim Jong Il propounded a theory of morality that defends
human values most resolutely and develops humanity into most
powerful, beautiful and noble beings. He also has turned the
north into a powerful nation in moral and political aspects.
With his practical examples, he teaches humankind what
human morality should be like.
He regards loyalty to the leader as the highest form of
morality. He has been loyal and dutiful to the President.
He considers it his bounden duty to respect and put
forward the forerunners who were faithful to the motherland
and the people.
His famous work "Respecting the Forerunners of the
Revolution is a Noble Moral Obligation of Revolutionaries"
is an outcome of his noble view of morality.
The north has the leader Kim Jong Il, the
incarnation of morality and loyalty, and its people are
united not only ideologically but also morally. So, the
north will certainly overcome all difficulties and create a
bright history with redoubled vigor.
NDFSK calls for burying "civilian-veiled" dictatorship
Pyongyang, January 22 (KCNA) -- The central committee of
the National Democratic Front of South Korea (NDFSK) in the
present fighting slogans on Jan. 17 called upon the people
from all walks of life in south Korea to more vigorously
turn out in the all-people resistance for the withdrawal of
the evil laws revised by the Kim Young Sam group and for
burying the "civilian-veiled" dictatorship, the Seoul-based
radio voice of national salvation reported.
The slogans say that the stirring present situation
calls for holding higher the flag of struggle to put an end
to the intelligence terrorist politics, the fascist
repressive rule and build a genuine society of democracy in
order to secure the urgent rights of 23 million workers and
their families to democracy and existence. The slogans
continue:
Let us abolish the slave "labour laws" which kill
workers and fatten businessmen.
Democracy is suffocated and the people are slaughtered by
the "law on the agency for national security planning". Let
us abrogate the "law" through struggle.
Let us smash strong-arm suppression with an overall
general strike, defend the "Korean Confederation of Trade
Unions" and give full play to strong fighting and organising
power.
If solidarity of workers and students is achieved, the
"civilian-veiled" dictatorship will be ended, the slogans
say, calling upon the one million students to join in the
general strike of workers.
The slogans call upon the peasants to overthrow the
"civilian-veiled" regime killing them, shoulder to shoulder
with workers and upon the teachers who are deprived of the
right to unity to undauntedly turn out in the struggle to
repeal the evil laws.
They also call upon the intellectuals to hold high the
candle light of the struggle burning the revised evil laws
and upon the pressmen to denounce the crimes of the
"civilian-veiled" dictatorship going against the will of the
people, with pens of justice in their hands.
They appeal to the religionists to give harsh penalties
to judas, Kim Young Sam.
The slogans call for burying the "civilian-veiled"
dictatorship with the unity of all the people.

President Kim Il Sung and the 55th birthday of the great
leader Secretary Kim Jong Il as the greatest national holiday
common to humankind.
The meeting set the February 10-20 period and April 10-20
period as celebration days.
It discussed and adopted a program of organisational and
political activities to mark the holidays and authorized the
NDFSK central committee to issue books which carry ideas and

the struggle for independence against the United States and
the movement for national reunification and concentrate all
efforts on overthrowing the traitorous Kim Young Sam regime,
a stumbling block to democracy and reunification, the
meeting stressed.
Noting that the overthrow of the Kim Young Sam regime is
the demand of the present situation, the will of the people
and the task of the national history, the meeting stressed
the need to strengthen the forces of workers, peasants and
students with the workers as the axis and unite the
dissidents and other people to vigorously turn out in the
nationwide resistance.
It expressed the belief that the south Korean people will
make a new turning point in the struggle for independence,
democracy and reunification, full of the conviction of
certain victory and optimism in this significant year and
decorate the history of the nation.
Labour movement in s. Korea supported worldwide
Pyongyang, January 22 (KCNA)-- The struggle of south
Korean workers was actively supported in different
countries.
The British Society for Independence Studies in a
statement January 16 said that the south Korean authorities
are clamouring about "threats from the north" in an attempt
to conceal the essence of their dependent economy.
We call upon all the labour movement, the labour Party
and democratic and reasonable people in britain to express
full solidarity with the labour movement in south Korea,
said the statement.
Chitta Vishwath, Secretary General of the All-India Peace
and Solidarity Organisation, in a statement January 16 said
that it is only too natural that south Korean workers have
turned out in the struggle against the amended "labour laws"
and "law on the agency for national security planning."
He expressed the conviction that the south Korean workers
would continue their struggle till their just demands are
met.
He urged the Kim Young Sam group to abrogate the "labour
laws" and the "law on the agency for national security
planning" at once and release the arrested union leaders
and democrats without delay.
M.M. Verma, Director of the Indian Centre for U.N.
Studies, said in a statement that reconciliation and
cooperation on the Korean Peninsula are unthinkable as long
as the "national security law" and the concrete wall remain
in south Korea.
He stressed that the Kim Young Sam group honestly confess
their crimes against the nation and step down from "power".
DPRK public org. on Japan's move to avoid postwar settlement
Pyongyang, January 22 (KCNA) -- The spokesman for the
DPRK Committee for Investigation into Damage Caused by
Japanese Imperialist Occupation of Korea issued a statement
today denouncing Takami Eto, former General Director of the
Management and Coordination Agency of Japan, for his recent
remarks denying the past crimes of Japanese imperialism.
The statement says:
Some time ago, Takami Eto said Japanese imperialism's
invasion and military occupation of Korea were made under a
"treaty" and that they were little different from the
"merger of a town and a village." He also expressed doubt
over the recruitment of "comfort women for the army" written
in Japanese middle school history textbooks that will be
available from this spring.
His remarks denying Japan's past crimes have caused a big
stir in the international community.
It is an undeniable historical fact that militarist Japan
began aggression on Korea from more than a hundred years ago
and militarily occupied Korea for 41 years when it committed
all kinds of unethical crimes including massacre, drafting
of "comfort women" and forced labor.
Nonetheless, Takami Eto, a former member of the Japanese
government and a dietman "elected" by the people, distorted
this stark fact and justified the past crimes. We can hardly
repress surging resentment.
The government authorities of Japan describe Eto's
remarks as a talk based on his "individual view of history"
and "not binding on the government." If this is true, they
should raise a serious issue over this incident and resume
negotiation with the DPRK for postwar settlement.
The double-dealing tactics of the Japanese government
compels us to view the revival of militarism and the
rightist development of society in Japan in combination with
the present government's policy of avoiding postwar
settlement.
A spokesman of the DPRK Foreign Ministry already issued a
statement on January 10, urging Japan to immediately come to
the negotiation table with the DPRK with a sincere attitude
for postwar settlement.
Our demand is absolutely just and principled.
In response to this, the Japanese government manipulates
the mass media of Japan to raise unreasonable preconditions
such as "four-way talks" and "inter-Korean dialogue" and
describe time as immature for postwar settlement, which
should have already been done. It also wirepulls a private
fund to pay "compensation" to some former "comfort women" in
secrecy in an attempt to bribe them and avoid state
reparation.
It is outrageous for the offender to talk about "time"
concerning the repentance of his crimes before the victim.
It is more than half a century since the end of world war
II and humankind are on the threshold of the 21st century.
However, the agitation for the revival of militarism is not
restricted by law but overlooked and defended by the
government only in Japan unlike other defeated nations. This
draws due attention from the unbiased public opinion around
the world.
The Japanese government must discard its wrong attitude
toward cognition of history and postwar settlement and meet
our just demand without delay.
