Kim Yong Sun meets U.S. religious delegation

 Pyongyang, January 28 (KCNA) -- Chairman of the Korean Asia-Pacific Peace Committee Kim Yong Sun, who is also secretary of the central committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, met and conversed with the visiting delegation of the national council of the churches of Christ in the United States of America led by its president Melvin Talbert at the Mansudae Assembly hall on January 27. Present there was vice-chairman of the Korean Asia-Pacific Peace Committee Song Ho Gyong.

Important occasion in friendly relations

 Pyongyang, January 28 (KCNA) -- Today is the fifth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations at the ambassadorial level between the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and the Republic of Kazakhstan (January 28, 1992). Minju Joson devotes a by-lined article to the anniversary. The friendly and cooperative relations between the DPRK and Kazakhstan have actively encouraged the peoples of the two countries to build a new independent and prosperous society, it says, and goes on: The Kazakh government and people are developing friendship and cooperation with neighboring countries, Asian countries in particular, while promoting political stability and economic development of the country. The Korean people established the friendly ties with the Kazakh people and have developed cooperation in the past. The Korean people will make positive efforts to consolidate and develop the ties of friendship and cooperation with the Kazakh people as in the past.

Patriotic cause of Chongryon is sure to win

 Pyongyang, January 28 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today runs a signed article headlined "Patriotic Cause of Chongryon Will Always Emerge Victorious". the article reads in part: The General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) is a dignified organisation of overseas citizens of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, which was formed and led by the great leader comrade Kim Il Sung, the eternal sun and father of the nation= It is a Juche-based organisation of overseas citizens with which to develop the movement of Koreans in Japan under the banner of the immortal Juche idea. Over the past 40 years since its formation Chongryon has vigorously fought for the country and the nation, registering proud achievements. In the world there is no such organisation as Chongryon, which has been well knit organisationally, has pushed ahead with a noble work for the country and the nation and has been a pioneer and good example of patriotism and loyalty to the country and the nation and of the movement of overseas citizens in the world history. Chongryon has achieved proud successes in democratic national education. It directed great efforts to a struggle for the rights that overseas citizens of a sovereign state are entitled to exercise in all aspects of socio-political, economic and cultural life and to a mass movement for all democratic national rights in a responsible manner. Great achievements have been gained in national culture and arts and athletics as well. Chongryon has performed great feats for the prosperity and development of the socialist homeland and the reunification of the country. it has been fully supported by broad segments of the Japanese people and highly respected by the world people. This is the result of the external activities it conducted in the idea of independence, peace and friendship. The most important task of the community of Koreans in Japan, who are making a new history, is to prevent the assimilation and naturalisation of the younger generation, preserve the national identity and keep and develop the community of Koreans in Japan. Chongryon and Koreans in Japan will wage a more powerful struggle against the "campaign for suffrage" some bad elements of the South Korean Residents Association in Japan central committee are conducting in a bid to place the fates of Koreans in Japan under the politics of Japan and step up their assimilation and naturalisation. and they will more firmly defend the national independence of compatriots. Chongryon is vigorously advancing along the straight road of Juche under the wise guidance of the great leader secretary Kim Jong Il in firm unity around him, holding President Kim Il Sung in high esteem as the eternal sun of Juche. its patriotic cause will always win, along with the advance of the socialist homeland.

Order of Kim Il Sung awarded to chairman Han Tok Su

 Pyongyang, January 28 (KCNA) -- The Order of Kim Il Sung was awarded to Han Tok Su, chairman of the central standing committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon), on the occasion of his 90th birthday. A decree of the central people's committee of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea dated on Jan. 22 says the order is awarded to him because he has strengthened and developed Chongryon, which was formed by the great leader President Kim Il Sung, into a Juche-based organization of overseas compatriots and contributed to firmly uniting the Chongryon officials and Koreans in Japan around the organization and rousing them to the patriotic work of Chongryon for democratic national education, prosperity of the socialist homeland and reunification of the country.

the world has been changing drastically shortly before the 21st century. it is the desire of all the people to build a society where they are able to exalt the brilliance of their dignity and where it is possible to realize the genuine coexsistance and co-prosperity.
nevertheless, now they have been confronted with serious problems such as the increase in the gap between north and south and poverty, ethenic disputes, enviromental destruction, food crisis and others.
even in the advanced nations where they have enjoyed high technology and abundance in materials, questions have been raised as to what a real wealth is to human being.
under these circumstances, it will be of siginificance in holding "international seminar on the 21st century and the position of human being" and in discussing new value systems for the humanity to seeks after and materialize and consider some problems concerned.
