Pyongyang, March 20 (KCNA) -- A friendship gathering with Cuban Ambassador to Korea Jose Ramon Rodriguez Varona and Embassy officials took place on the Korea-Cuba Friendship Hwasong Cooperative Farm in a suburb of Pyongyang on Wednesday. The guests looked round the monument to the great leader President Kim Il Sung's on-site guidance and helped farmers in their work. They sang songs and conversed with farmers, deepening feelings of friendship.

Work of President Kim Il Sung published in Ukraine

Pyongyang, March 20 (KCNA) -- A famous work of the great leader President Kim Il Sung "Let Us Achieve the Great Unity of Our Nation" was published in booklet by the Ibers Publishing House of Ukraine on Mar. 13 on the occasion of his 85th birth anniversary. The director of the publishing house said that the work fully reflects the tireless efforts made by the president for the reunification of Korea in his lifetime. The policy for the great unity of the nation expounded in the work is the wisest, he said, adding: we are sure that the Korean people will get united to put an end to outside interference and unfailingly achieve the reunification of the country.

Stamps and envelops on 80th anniversary of KNA

Pyongyang, March 20 (KCNA) -- The Ministry of Post and Telecommunications brought out commemorative stamps and envelops on the threshold of the 80th anniversary of the Korean National Association. Among them is a set of stamps which carry a poem "The green pine on mt. Nam" written by Kim Yong Jik, an indomitable revolutionary fighter, and a picture of a strong pine tree remaining green even in winter. Another stamp carries letters "Aim High" and "1917-1997" depicting sunrays shining all over the world against the background of the monument to the formation of the Korean National Association which conveys the undying feats of Kim Hyong Jik who brought a new turn in the development of the Korean anti-Japanese national-liberation movement by forming the KNA, the first anti-Japanese underground revolutionary organization. The Ministry printed an envelop with a picture of the monument to the Pisok-gye (stone monument association).

Preparations for 85th birthday of President Kim Il Sung abroad

Pyongyang, March 20 (KCNA) -- The Central Secretariat of the Pakistan People's Party and the Pakistan-Korea friendship Association respectively met on Mar. 11 and 12 to inaugurate preparatory committees for events to mark the 85th birth anniversary of the great leader President Kim Il Sung. Nazar Hussain Kiyani, Head of the Secretariat, and Zafar Bakhtawari, Chairman of the Association, were nominated for the chairmanships of the committees at the meetings. They said in their speeches that events would be held across the country on the occasion of April 15. A month of commemoration was set at the meetings. A Ugandan preparatory committee was inaugurated in Kampala to mark this anniversary. Baguma Isoke, Minister of State for Natural Resources, was appointed Chairman of the committee. The period from Mar. 13 to Apr. 18 was set as a month of commemoration and the action program was discussed at the meeting.

Rodong Sinmun on Japan's design for overseas expansion

Pyongyang, March 20 (KCNA) -- Some time ago, Director- General of the Defence Agency of Japan Fumio Kyuma said at the Budgetary Committee Meeting of the House of Councillors that the Japanese government is examining how to support the overseas-based U.S. forces. Branding his remark as an expression of Japan's ill-intentioned design for overseas expansion, a news analyst of Rodong Sinmun today says: Iit is an invariable ambition of the Japanese reactionaries to become a military power and attain their design for overseas expansion with the backing of the United States, siding with its strategy. His remarks about Japan's support for the U.S. troops indicate that in case they are engaged in military intervention and aggression, Japan will also take part in them, irrespective of their location. The Japanese reactionaries have stepped up arms buildup since their defeat in the war. As a result, Japan ranks among the strongest military nations in the world with huge military potentials and attack weapons. What remains to be done is for Japan to create a condition for justifying its military operations abroad. Its aim is to dispatch the "self-defense forces" to wherever the U.S. troops are to take military actions. In other words, it intends to use its strength in all parts of the world on the plea of supporting the U.S. troops. The overseas expansion of the Japanese reactionaries will only lead to their self-destruction. They would be well advised to abandon the reckless overseas expansion design and seek a peaceful way.

National seminar marks 80th anniversary of KNA

Pyongyang, March 20 (KCNA) -- A national seminar was held in Pyongyang on Wednesday to mark the 80th anniversary of the Korean National Association (KNA). The KNA was formed by Kim Hyong Jik, an outstanding leader of the Korean national-liberation movement. Present at the seminar were Vice-President Pak Song Chloe, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, and Choe Thae Bok, alternate member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of the WPK Central Committee. Speakers said that the formation of the KNA was a historic declaration that the Korean anti-Japanese national-liberation movement broke with bourgeois nationalism, which had suffered many a setback, and changed its course to communism, with the policy of proletarian revolution suggested under the energetic leadership of Kim Hyong Jik. They stressed that for its right view of a true life, Kim Hyong Jik's idea of "Aim High" served as an ideological and mental support and a banner of national salvation in that it provided the anti-Japanese independence fighters and people with firm confidence in the liberation of the country and in revolutinary victory. The idea of "Aim High" could shine bright thanks to the Juche idea founded by the great leader President Kim Il Sung and it has been enriched by the respected General Kim Jong Il, a great master of ideology and theory. They noted that Kim Hyong Jik's idea of making the revolution generation after generation is a precious treasure in accomplishing the revolutionary cause of the leader and that the idea has been inherited and enriched by the President's idea of continuous revolution and the General's theory of inheritance. S. Korean foreign debt totals dlrs 111 billion

Pyongyang, March 20 (KCNA) -- A total foreign debt of 1111h Korea reached 111 billion dollars as at the end of last year, according to a Sseoul-based radio report. The south Korean foreign exchange "authority" said this on Mar. 17, adding that the foreign debt increased 32.6 billion dollars last year. South Korea has turned into a debtor nation saddled with the heaviest foreign debt of more than 2 million won per capita.

Another crime of Kim Hyon Chloe disclosed

Pyongyang, March 20 (KCNA) -- It has been brought to light in South Korea that Kim Hyon Chloe, son of the traitor Kim Young Sam, controled military personnel affairs, taking hold of a secret organization within the puppet army. Kim Hyon Chloe formed "mannahoe", a secret organization involving graduates of up to the 29th term from the puppet military academy, and named his confidants for important military posts to establish his footing in the army. He turned the "mannahoe" into his private organization. He expelled Cchun Ddoo Hhwan's "hanahoe" from the "presidential" security service and national security advisor's office of "Chongwadae", the "capital security command," and the personnel affairs staff of the army so as to implant "mannahoe" members. He also absorbed Roh Tae Woo's "nanumhoe" to expand his forces rapidly and, in actuality, took the reins of military 0ersonnel affairs.

Clumsy political drama

Pyongyang, March 20 (KCNA -- Minju Joson today runs a commentary on the "apology" made by Kim Hyon Chloe, son of the traitor Kim Young Sam. It is no more than a political drama to mislead public opinion and cover up his foul colors as a swindler, the news analyst stresses, and says: Kim Hyon Chol's "apology" itself is in question. His crimes can never be patched up with some words such as "apology". Because his case is the largest financial scandal ever in history, in which he, in collusion with his father, forced banks to grant a huge amount of loan to the Hanbo steel works and received much money in reward. He also intervened in personnel affairs of the puppet aministration and the "agency for national security planning" to draw water to his mill. It is the traitor Kim Young Sam who is wirepulling the case behind the scenes to bury his son's crimes in oblivion. The traitor, in a "statement to the people" made some time ago, prattled that his son should take a "legal responsibility" for the Hanbo incident if necessary. But in actuality, he is resorting to all means to cover up the crimes. Kim Young Sam and Kim Hyon Chloe should stop resorting to artifice to cover up their dirty colors and should frankly confess their crimes and face the stern judgement by the people.
