Kim Young Sam group's plot to disintegrate student organization under fire

Pyongyang, March 22 (KCNA) -- The Director of the Youth and Student Department of the Central Committee of the National Democratic Front of South Korea released a statement on March 19 accusing the Kim Young Sam group of despicably trying to disintegrate the South Korean Federation of University Student Councils (Hanchongryon), a patriotic organization of students, Seoul-based radio voice of National Salvation reported. The statement said: Seized with uneasiness over the students' anti-"government" struggle which is likely to become fiercer in spring, the season of their struggle, the Kim Young Sam dictatorial regime is resorting to a despicable and crafty plot to separate some universities from "Hanchongryon" and form something like a regional association of university student councils so as to discourage the student movement. The plot, hatched by the "Agency for National Security Planning", the general headquarters of tip-off politics, is a challenge to the independent organization representing one million students and is also an intolerable insult to all the students who support it. "Hanchongryon" is a legitimate autonomous organization of students which was inaugurated in may 1993 involving some 200 university student councils throughout south Korea to Replace the National Council of Student Representatives. Since its formation, it has taken the lead in the student movement under the banner of independence, democracy and reunification, seeking support from broad masses to suit its characteristics. The Kim Young Sam group must clearly know that no matter how desperately they may try to sow a discord among the students and drive a wedge between the central and regional bodies, "Hanchongryon" will remain an invincible organization which advances with its roots struck deep among students, undaunted by any charges of "enemy-benefitting" and "pro-communist" activities.

India calls for peaceful reunification of Korea

Act against humanitarianism

Pyongyang, March 22 (KCNA) -- Some circles of the United States and Japan have recently tried to use humanitarian food supply to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea for their sinister political aim. They said that there should be a "change in domestic policy" of the DPRK before the food assistance and have gone the length of spreading the possibility of the "collapse" of the system in the northern half of KOREA caused by "food shortage" over the radio. This is interference in the internal affairs of the DPRK, part of their policy hostile towards the DPRK and an unpardonable act of throwing a wet blanket over the humanitarian efforts for food supply. Assistance to those who suffer from natural disaster is only too natural in view of international usage and in view of ethics and morality. A lot of countries and international organisations, therefore, give disinterested aid to the DPRK. They actively help the Korean people in their efforts to heal the flood damage as well. By poking their nose in the internal affairs of the DPRK and crying for a "change in its domestic policy" as a condition for humanitarian food supply, some circles of the United States and Japan betrayed their moral inferiority and inhumane attitude. What they should be mindful is that the Korean people never tolerate those who slander their socialist system and policies of the Workers' Party of Korea. The Korean people value as much as their lives the socialist system which defends and looks after their destinies and future and fight through thick and thin for the defence of the policies of the WPK. If some circles of the U.S. and Japan continue trying to meddle in the internal affairs of the DPRK, pursuing the policy hostile toward the DPRK and throwing a wet blanket over the humanitarian efforts for food supply, ignoring this, they will lose more than they get.

Rodong Sinmun on factor of instability on Korean peninsula

Pongyang, Mrch 22 (KCNA-A Deputy Asistant Sretary of Defence of the Uited Sates prattled that they culd not "examine the reduction" of U.S. toops in Oinawa at a time when the "situation of the Krean peninsula is obscure. Commenting on his remarks, a news analyst of Rodong Sinmun today says: The United States is trying to keep its armed forces In Okinawa at any cost under the pretext of "instability in the Korean peninsula". The Korean peninsula is placed in a state of constant instability and tension because the united states has deployed huge aggression forces in south Korea and Japan and threatened the DPRK with war exercises and military confrontation moves. If the U.S. withdraws its troops from south Korea and Japan and stops the war manoeuvres against the DPRK, the instability in the Korean peninsula will disappear of itself. If the United States continues war rackets against the DPRK with its huge armed forces stationed in south Korea and around the Korean peninsula, the situation of the Korean peninsula will become all the more instable and eventually bring an unpredictable serious result because the DPRK and the U.S. are technically in a state of war. If it truly wants the relaxation of tensions and peace in the Korean peninsula, the U.S. must withdraw its aggression forces from south Korea and Japan.

Opposition leader criticizes Kim Young Sam

Pyongyang, March 22 (KCNA) -- The President of the "United Liberal Democrats" of South Korea criticized the traitor Kim Young Sam at a meeting to reorganize the north Jolla provincial committee of the party over the Kim Hyon Chol case on Mar. 19, according to a radio report from Seoul. He said the case was "a collective crime committed by the government power and related quarters and an example of the despotism of absolute authority."

Ridiculous utterances

Pyongyang, March 22 (KCNA) -- The south korean puppet defence minister, Kim Tong Jin, made ridiculous remarks before the heads of three parties of Japan in charge of policy examination, the Japanese NHK radio said. He again took issue with the northern half of Korea as he would do, contending that the U.S. marine corps' presence in Okinawa is necessary for "coping with the event of ccontingency on the Korean peninsula and that he would "keep his eyes upon the re-examination of the "guidelines for Japan-U.S. Defence cooperation in the event of contingency in the far east" now under way between Japan and the U.S. As is known, the question of withdrawing the U.S. military base from Okinawa has become serious between Japan and the U.S. by the stubborn struggle of the JapanesePeople. In particular, the major political parties of Japan are pressing for the reduction of the U.S. marine corps, a vanguard of overseas aggression. The south Korean puppets, however, feel uneasy about the question and set themselves against the u.s. Troops pullout. It is because the destiny of the south Korean puppets depends entirely upon the guns of the U.S. troops and the "civilian government" cannot live even a day without the backing of the occupation troops. Kim Tong Jin's utterances show that the Kim Yung Sam goup are a herd of dastardly and poor colonial puppets and taitors without parallel in the world, who have turned the wole land of south Krea into a base of the U.S.troops and beg for the presence of the U.S. troops, upset by demand for the reduction of their overseas base. The south Korean puppets' act is an open challenge to the peaceloving forces of Japan calling for the withdrawal of The U.S. military base, a hotbed of war, and it will touch of their indignation.

Now the water problem has become very serious in the World, the paper says in a signed article, and goes on: Social indifference to water is considered as a main cause of the shortage of water resources. Western industrialized states, only interested in making profits, have polluted water seriously in different countries and regions of the world. Many developing countries of the world urge the western industrialized states to bear responsibility for indiscriminate environmental pollution and to create social and economic conditions for environmental protection. The desire of the people to drink and use clear water and live in clean environment should certainly be realised.

Survey of Mt. Paektu made

Pyongyang, March 22 (KCNA) -- The Mt. Paektu expeditionary team has made a comprehensive survey of the famous mountain. The mountain, 2,750 metres high above the sea level, stands in the northern part of the Korean peninsula. It is regarded as a point of topographical importance and a world-famous mountain the range of which ramifies in extensive areas of East Asia, going beyond the boundary of the country. It had been an important task to make a broad, accurate and scientific examination of some socio-historical questions concerning the mountain and its natural and geographical secrets. The able scientists, technicians and university teachers belonging to the expeditionary team have discovered and proved many new valuable data on the mountain's appearance and natural circumstances. Mt. Paektu is a volcano formed with lava and ejecta which came up several times from late tertiary to quarternary of cenozoic. The survey showed that the lava plateau of the mountain appeared after molten lava poured out thirteen times at least and, afterwards, a shield-shape hill was formed. Later,Trachytic lava erupted, forming a cone-shape mountain on the Hill. Subsequent extravasations of acid lava made the mountain larger and magnificent, assuming the shape of reed hat. The expeditionary team also made clear when and how Jong Il Peak appeared, which had remained unknown. The survey proved that the grandiose and wonderful Peak appeared two million years ago with an extravasation of lava. As a result of a survey with up-to-date measuring facilities, the relative height of the Peak, 1,797.81 metres above the seal level, is proved to be 216.42 metres, symbolic of the birth date of the respected General Kim Jong Il, February 16, 1942. It was also proved in a scientific way that six springs in the Mt. Paektu area stem from lake Chon on the mountain. This means that the long Amnok and Tuman rivers flowing in the northern part of Korea embrace streams from the lake.
