Rrigmarole about "security" to do harm to fellow countrymen

Pyongyang, April 1 (KCNA) -- South Korean puppet Defence Minister Kim Tong Jin recently visited the "Defence University" and "Military Reeducation Centre" and made a rigmarole again about "security" to incite confrontation between the north and the south, according to a report. Some time ago he entreated Japanese masters to prevent the withdrawal of the U.S. troops. It is not fitting for him, a colonial servant, to clamour for "state security and independent defence". He also made provocative utterances that recent "consciousness of security" has been slackened and "the view of fighting against the enemy" weakened. His remarks indicate that he would not permit the aspirations for independence, democracy and reunification and sympathy with the northern half of Korea because they are an expression of slackened "consciousness of security" and weakened "view of fighting against the enemy". This betrays the treacherous, repressive moves of the Kim Young Sam group to crack down under the pretext of "security" upon the slightest national feelings as well as the democractic movement for reunification which is obstructive to the war manoeuvres against the fellow countrymen. The recent clamour of the Kim Young Sam group for "security" is part of their criminal moves to intensify the fascist suppression of the democratic forces aspiring after reunification, incite the spirit of confrontation against the north among the people and aggravate the situation of the Korean Peninsula to ignite another war. The Kim Young Sam group should immediately give up their manoeuvring to unleash a new war under the cloak of "security".

Jjoint efforts for reunification called for

Pyongyang, April 1 (KCNA) -- Pak Kwang Gi, Chief of the Mission of the National Democratic Front of South Korea in Cuba, made a speech through Radio Havana on Mar. 29 on the occasion of the fourth anniversary of the publication of the work of President Kim Il Sung "10-point programme of the great unity of the whole nation for the reunification of the country". He called for all the Koreans at home and abroad to pool their efforts in the sacred cause of national independence, peace and reunification under the banner of the 10-point programme. The 10-point programme, which comprehensively indicates the general objective, ideological basis, principles and ways for the great unity of the nation, is a great one for national reunification, he said, and went on: "That is the absolutely independent, righteous and realistic one reflecting the unanimous desire of the nation. The whole nation in the south, north and overseas must strengthen solidarity and realize organizational unity to achieve great national unity. "If they meet and contact each other, they may deepen understanding, promote trust and find a good way for national independence, peace and reunification although their ideas differ from each other. "All the Koreans should make efforts to convene a joint conference of representatives of political parties and organizations in the south, north and overseas this year."

Rodong Sinmun on Japan's military cooperation for reinvasion

Pyongyang, April 1 (KCNA) -- Some time ago, Watanabe, Chief of the Staff of the Japan Ground "Self-Defence Force", visited south Korea for confabs with the south Korean puppet Defence Minister and other brasshats on the issue of intensifying military cooperation between Japan and south Korea. Commenting on this, a news analyst of Rodong Sinmun today says: The Japanese reactionaries are loudly calling for the "system for cooperation" with the south Korean puppets under the pretext of "military threat from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea" and "regional security." Lurking behind this is an ulterior intention to stifle the DPRK with strength. Watanabe, together with brasshats of the south Korean puppet army, toured a special combat unit, the military academy and Panmunjom in a bid to acquaint himself in detail with war preparations and military strength of south Korea and the situation of the military demarcation line. Japanese military bosses have so far visited south Korea for discussions with the south Korean puppets on military affairs and cried for cooperation with south Korea. But, none of them learned the condition of the puppet army and showed up at the Military Demarcation Line to instigate the puppets to inter-Korean confrontation as Watanabe did. Japan has pushed ahead with rearming itself on a large scale since its defeat in the war. As a result, the Japan "Self-Defence Forces" have been strengthened into an aggression force which can undergo any war. Not content with this, the Japanese reactionaries are trying to build a military power and thus reinvade other nations. They unhesitatingly say that, if a war breaks out in Korea, they will not remain with folded arms. This means that they will involve themselves in Korean war. Japan has already decided to dispatch vessels and planes of the "Self-Defence Forces" to south Korea on the plea of "rescuing Japanese." Japan's intention to take military cooperation with south Korea as an occasion in paving the road to reinvasion is a serious miscalculation. The Japanese reactionaries would be well advised to realise that their military conspiracy with south Korea will bring about their own ruin.

Rodong Sinmun calls for digesting great Juche idea

Pyongyang, April 1 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today calls for all people to arm themselves more firmly with the great Juche idea. An editorial of the paper says: Secretary Kim Jong Il deepened and enriched the Juche idea, founded by the great leader President Kim Il Sung, with new principles and contents through his extraordinary research, energy and outstanding ideological and theoretical activity. This idea is the life and soul of Korean revolution and a valuable weapon for victory. Only when we are all firmly armed with the idea and live and struggle as demanded by the idea can we vigorously progress the socialist cause of Korean style without twists and turns. The Juche idea is a philosophy for revolution and a valuable ideological and spiritual pabulum for revolutionaries of Juche type. The idea is an ideological foundation of the Korean-style socialism, which displays invincible vitality as it embodies this idea. The Workers' Party and people of Korea are fighting to defend their socialism. In other words, they fight to powerfully demonstrate the justness and invincible might of the Juche idea and remake nature, society and humanity as demanded by the idea. We should be boundlessly loyal to the idea and defend its purity with a high sense of pride that we have it as the guiding idea of revolution. We should accelerate the revolution and construction as demanded by the idea.

S. Korea's persecution of POWs under fire

Pyongyang, April 1 (KCNA) -- The Korean Measure Committee for Rescuing Unconverted Long-Term Prisoners in South Korea released a statement on Monday exposing the south Korean authorities' human rights abuses against them. They, who were taken prisoner during the Korean War nearly 50 years ago, are still suffering in and outside prison as victims of the "National Security Law" and the "Law on Supervision for Public Peace", the statement noted, saying: Kim Son Myong, the longest-term prisoner in the world, was taken prisoner during the war after joining the Korean People's Army in south Korea. But the south Korean authorities kept him in prison for 45 years on charge of "spying", the charge faked up by means of torture. An Hak Sop, the second longest-term prisoner in the world, also suffered behind bars for 43 years on the same charge. The south Korean rulers have more harshly persecuted Kim In So, Kim Yong Thae, Ham Se Hwan and others who were born in north Korea.. They, in wanton violation of international law and the Korean Armistice Agreement, put them in prison, intentionally excluding them in the exchange of Pows. 33 years and 7 months in prison made Kim in so disabled. Though he was released, he is now suffering from an illness in south Korea where he has no relatives. Ham Se Hwan was held prisoner, hit by twelve bullets. He was released after twenty years in prison, but he was confined again in the "Chongju Custody Centre for Preservation of Public Peace" for many years, subjected to cruel torture and maltreatment, because he refused to be converted. Kim In So, Kim Yong Thae and Ham Se Hwan are now in a critical condition with no relatives to nurse them, deprived of political rights and freedom. Especially, Kim In So's life has been at stake in the wake of last year's cerebral haemorrhage. The south Korean authorities are still keeping him under supervision for the "Preservation of Public Peace", alleging that he is likely to commit a crime again because he has refused to be converted and kept in touch with his family in The north. All the facts clearly show that they intend to kill the Pows from the north by continuing to harshly persecute them In south Korea. We express the belief that the United Nations Commission on Human Rights and other international and national human rights bodies and democratic organizations and the world's progressive people will make a case of the south Korean authorities' human rights abuses against the Pows and strongly urge the repatriation of the three old men.
