President Kim Il Sung's work published in Pakistan
Pyongyang, April 5 (KCNA) -- A famous work of President Kim Il Sung "Let Us Achieve the Great Unity of Our Nation" was published in booklet by the Naerog Publishing House of Pakistan.
The work is a talk of President Kim Il Sung to the senior officials of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland and the members of the north headquarters of the national alliance for the country's reunification on August 1, 1991.
The booklet in the preface noted President Kim Il Sung in the work stressed the necessity to achieve the great unity of the nation and realize national reunification at an early date.
The President emphasized that the U.S. troops and nuclear weapons should be withdrawn from south Korea and the concrete wall between the north and south must be pulled down, it added.
Secy. Kim Jong Il's work published in Bulgaria
Pyongyang, April 5 (KCNA) -- A famous work of Secretary Kim Jong Il "Respecting the Forerunners of the Revolution is a Noble Moral Obligation of Revolutionaries" was published in booklet on Mar. 25 in the joint name of the Central Committee of the Bulgarian Communist Party (MARXISTS) and the Dimiter Blagoyev Publishing House of Bulgaria.
The work is a discourse published in Rodong Sinmun, organ of the Workers' Party of Korea Central Committee, by Secretary Kim Jong Il on Dec. 25, 1995.
Preparatory committees for commemorating President Kim Il Sung's birthday formed abroad
Pyongyang, April 5 (KCNA) -- Preparatory committees for commemorating the 85th birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung were lately formed in Guinea, Costa Rica and Bulgaria.
Dorank Asipat Diaseni, Minister of Administrative Reform and Decentralization of Guinea= Jose Francisco Aguilar, a laureate of "International Kim Il Sung Prize" and Vice-Director General of the International Institute of the Juche Idea= and Georgy Stoyanov, Chairman of the Bulgaria-Korea Friendship Association, were respectively elected the Chairmen of the preparatory committees at the inaugural meetings.
The preparatory committees set a commemorative period or month and decided to hold various events during the days.
Rodong Sinmun blasts s. Korea for impeding improvement of DPRK-US. Ties
Pyongyang, April 5 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today censures the Kim Young Sam group of south Korea for obstructing the improvement of relations between the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and the United States.
In a commentary the daily says: some affirmative signs are now seen in DPRK-U.S. relations, enjoying worldwide welcome. But only the Kim Young Sam group are desperately trying to check the improvement of the DPRK-U.S. ties. of late top officials have flown to south Korea one after another from the U.S. for "accomodation". The Kim Young Sam group have asked them to help maintain a "close cooperation" in dealing with the DPRK.
By a "close cooperation" with the U.S., they mean concerted efforts with the U.S. to stifle the DPRK militarily. We love peace and want no war. But if the south Korean puppets start a war against the DPRK in alliance with the U.S., we will annihilate them. The Korean people regard sovereignty as valuable as their life and never pardon those who try to infringe upon it.
If a war breaks out in Korea, not only the south Korean puppets but others siding with them will not be safe.
Deliberation needed in deletion of "enemy state" -- Minju Joson
Pyongyang, April 5 (KCNA) -- Minju Joson today urges the United Nations to deliberate on the matter of deleting the term "enemy state" in the UN Charter and make Japan pay for its past crimes as early as possible.
The daily says in a commentary: As for the matter, it is related to article 53 and article 107 of the UN Charter defining as enemies of humankind those nations which started aggression of other countries in World War II. Therefore, the matter should be resolved in compliance with the original demand of the definition.
The Japanese authorities have still refused to atone for Japan's crimes in the war but persistently tried to embellish and justify them and cover up its crime-woven history of aggression.
If Japan is freed from the term "enemy state" now, it will help the country beautify its history of aggression and crime and encourage it to reinvasion.
It is incompatible with the purpose and principles of the UN Charter for the peace and security of the international community.
If the United Nations, which should deem democracy, equality and justice the life and blood in its activities, plays into the hands of a certain nation for some money, it cannot discharge its mission as the world body involving most of the countries in the world but have its image tarnished.

Carried in Rodong Sinmun is a statement published at the plenary meeting of the c.c., the All-Union Communist Party of Bolsheviks to mark the 5th anniversary of the Pyongyang Declaration "Let Us Defend and Advance the Cause of Socialism".
A commentary of the paper accuses the south Korean puppets of entreating the United States for the "Keeping of close anti-DPRK cooperation system" in a bid to put a brake on the improvement of the DPRK-U.S. relations.
Minju Joson in a commentary stresses that the united nations should pond over the solution to the issue of the "enemy state" article.
The paper runs an article saying that attempted amendment to the law on land lease for the U.S. troops in Japan is for an insidious purpose.
Industrial output value up 19 percent
Pyongyang, April 5 (KCNA) -- Different sectors of the Korean national economy have brought about a great improvement in production.
According to data available, a gross industrial output value in the first quarter of this year increased by 19 percent as against the fourth quarter of last year.
In this period the production of coal, ore, lead and zinc, magnesia clinker and light industrial goods drastically increased. Particularly, coal production has gone up 2.8 times and ore production 1.83 times.
The output of lead and zinc in the first quarter of this year rose by 61 percent, knitwear by 20 percent, cloth by 8 percent and underwear by 6 percent over the same period of last year.
About 100 more exports production bases have been built and export value attained a 6 percent gain over the first quarter of last year.
Production is on the increase in power, machine-building, chemical and building-material industries and forestry, too, stepping up the socialist construction as a whole.
Chief of Pyongyang mission of NDFSK calls for opening epochal phase for national reunification
Pyongyang, April 5 (KCNA) -- Ri Jong Sang, Chief of the Pyongyang Mission of the National Democratic Front of South Korea (NDFSK), issued a statement to the press on April 4 on the occasion of the fourth anniversary of the publication of "10-point programme of the great unity of the whole nation for the reunification of the country", a celebrated work of President Kim Il Sung.
"10-point programme of the great unity of the whole nation for the reunification of the country" is not only a Juche-based platform for national reunification but also one of the three pillars for the country's reunification together with the three principles of national reunification and the proposal for founding the Democratic Confederal Republic of Koryo, Ri Jong Sang said.
Originally expounded in the programme are the general target and ideological foundation of great national unity and the principle of promoting co-existence, co-prosperity and common interests and subordinating everything to the cause of national reunification, Ri Jong Sang noted, adding:
"This programme provides the people in the south with an ideological and spiritual weapon and a theoretical and practical sword for the accomplishment of reunification."
He pointed out that it is an honorable and worthwhile task of the Korean nation to achieve the independent and peaceful reunification of the country through the implementation of the programme.

Chief of Syrian mission of NDFSK interviewed
Pyongyang, April 5 (KCNA) -- Ri Nam Ho, Chief of the Syrian Mission of the National Democratic Front of South Korea(NDFSK), in an interview with the Syrian paper Al Saura on March 24 said that with rare wisdom, tested guidance and noble virtues President Kim Il Sung and General Kim Jong Il, the greatest men in the world, performed undying feats in the cause of independence and socialism, taking the lead in pulling through severe trials of history.
The Korean nation and humankind are infinitely revering and looking up to them as the greatest leaders, statesmen and human beings they acclaimed for the first time in history, he said.
He referred to important measures adopted at a meeting of the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the NDFSK to most significantly commemorate April 15 and February 16.
He went on to say that the south Korean people have turned out in a courageous struggle against dictatorship and fascism in hearty response to the President's behests on reunification, looking up to the respected general.

Symposium to mark President Kim Il Sung's birthday held in Moscow
Pyongyang, April 5 (KCNA) -- A scientific symposium on the subject "Comrade Kim Il Sung is the Most Outstanding Party and State Activist" was held in Moscow Wednesday on the occasion of the 85th birth anniversary of leader President Kim Il Sung.
Present at the symposium were Ri Tong Chol, Chairman of the United Confederation of Koreans in Russia and Chairman of its preparatory committee for commemorating the 85th birth anniversary of the President, vice-chairmen of the preparatory committee and Russian war veterans, scholars and pressmen.
The Ambassador of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to Russia, Son Song Phil, attended the symposium.

Spring planting in Korea
Pyongyang, April 5 (KCNA) -- Spring planting is in full swing in Korea.
March and April are the months of tree planting.
Working people across the country are now out in tree planting, attaining a signal success.
Over 310 million trees were planted in 60,000 odd hectares of land in recent 15 days, according to data available at the forest management bureau of the Ministry of Land and Environmental Protection.
Especially, over 68 million trees were planted in some 10,040 hectares of land in south Hwanghae Province and over 61 million trees in some 10,000 hectares of land in north Phyongan Province.
Over 8 million pine-nut trees and Evodia Daniellii Benn each were planted in Yonan and Paechon counties, south Hwanghae Province.
Some 70,000 trees were planted along the Pyongyang-Hyangsan tourist road in north and south Phyongan Provinces.

Symposiums on Juche idea held on 85th birthday of President Kim Il Sung
Pyongyang, April 5 (KCNA) -- Departmental symposiums on the Juche idea are being held in Pyongyang as part of events commemorating the 85th birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung.
Men of social science, railway transport, education, culture and art and the press held symposiums on the Juche idea from April 3 to 5.
The speakers said that the most brilliant exploit performed by the president for the times and humankind is that he founded the immortal Juche idea, the guiding idea of the revolution in the present time.
It is the great pride of Kim Il Sung's nation to have this great idea, they added.

Pyongyang, April 5 (KCNA) -- Jang Chol, Vice-Premier and Minister of Culture and Art, met and had a friendly talk with the visiting Chinese government cultural delegation led by Pan Zhenzhou, Vice-Minister of Culture, at the Mansudae Assembly Hall today.

DPRK government delegation leaves for Viet nam
Pyongyang, April 5 (KCNA) -- A government delegation of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea headed by Vice-Premier Kong Jin Thae left here today to visit Viet Nam.
