Wall paper on President Kim Il Sung seen in s. Korea

Pyongyang, April 27 (KCNA) -- A wall paper commemorating the 85th birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung was pasted at a university in Chungju city, the Seoul-based radio voice of national salvation quoted the North Chungchong Provincial Committee of the National Democratic Front of South Korea as saying. Printed in the wall paper in the name of the sun society were a portrait of President Kim Il Sung and articles under the titles "President Kim Il Sung, the eternal sun of the nation" and "Let us reunify the fatherland, true to the behests of the President."


Independence Day of Togo marked

Pyongyang, April 27 (KCNA) -- A meeting was sponsored by the Korea-Togo Friendship Association here on April 26 to mark the 37th anniversary of the Independence of Togo. A speech was made before a message of greetings to the Togolese President was adopted at the meeting. Present at the meeting were Kang Hui Jin, deputy editor-in-chief of the Minju Joson and Vice-Chairman of the Association, officials concerned and working people in the city.


South Korean authorities' move to arrest student leaders

Pyongyang, April 27 (KCNA) -- The puppet supreme prosecutor's office of south Korea on April 24 ordered the prosecution throughout south Korea to round up Chairman Kang Wi Won and two other leading members of the South Korean Federation of University Student Councils (Hanchongryon), a Seoul-based radio report said. The prosecution issued warrants for arrest of Chairman of the General Student Council of Korea University Ji Hyon Chan and 10 other patriotic students and is trying to repress the Chairman of the Seoul District Federation of University Student Councils and other students. The prosecution alleges that the student leaders plan to wage demonstrations under the slogan of independence, democracy and reunification on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the June Resistance of the South Korean People and around May 16, the day when the traitor Park Chung Hee made a coup d'etat more than 30 years ago. The "civilian"-veiled fascist clique set up "joint investigation headquarters on leftist offenses of 'Hanchongryon'" at prosecutors' offices across south Korea.


S. Korea's "NKP" on point of collapse

Pyongyang, April 27 (KCNA) -- The bulletin issued by the Pyongyang mission of the National Democratic Front of South Korea carried an article disclosing the fact that the Kim Young Sam's "New Korea Party" has been driven into crisis, divided by internal contradiction and discord. The article says sentiments against Kim's highhandedness and despotism are growing among the ruling quarters and that his foothold is shaking. It points out that bosses of the "democratic justice faction" have stood against Kim Young Sam's politics and the "democratic faction", his own faction, has been driven into a corner due to the Hanbo incident. The traitor's close associates and senior party officials have tendered resignations, turning their back on him, it added. The "NKP", which is no more than rabble, will soon collapse, the article predicts.


Bridge built in Mongolia, assisted by DPRK

Pyongyang, April 27 (KCNA) -- A ceremony for the completion of a brigde, built by the Korean and Mongolian workers, took place in Ulan Bator on April 15 on the occasion of the birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung. Present at the ceremony were deputy mayor of Ulan Bator Byamba, Chairman of the Mongolia-Korea Friendship Society Sch. Surenjav, directors of Mongolian Corporations, officials concerned and builders. Invited to the ceremony were the charge d'affaires ad interim of the DPRK embassy in Ulan Bator and embassy officials. The red cloth in front of the bridge equipped with service facilities was cut before the Director of the Chengis treid corporation and the head of the building workers group of Korea made speeches at the ceremony.


Students' struggle in s. Korea

Pyongyang, April 27 (KCNA) -- More than 350 students under the influence of the South Korean Federation of University Student Councils (Hanchongryon) rose up again in an anti-"Government" struggle on April 26 in the teeth of the brutal suppression by the Kim Young Sam group, according to Seoul-based "Radio no. 1." The students held a rally at Sogang University, bitterly condemned the Kim Young Sam regime for its harsh suppression of "Hanchongryon" and expressed their willingness to mount a large-scale anti-"Government" struggle on the occasion of May Day. At the end of the rally they took to the streets and held a demonstration for hours, chanting anti-"Government" slogans. They threw flame bottles at the riot police who were called out to suppress the demonstration.


Banquet given to mark army day

Pyongyang, April 27 (KCNA) -- The Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and the Government of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea on April 26 gave a banquet in celebration of the 65th founding anniversary of the Korean People's Army. Present there were Pak Song Chol, Jo Myong Rok, Kim Yong Chun, Kim Yong Nam and other senior party, state and army officials, anti-Japanese revolutionary fighters, commanders of the services and arms of the KPA, veterans of the Fatherland Liberation War and officials concerned. Foreign diplomatic envoys and military attaches here were present on invitation. Chief of the general staff of the KPA Kim Yong Chun made a speech at the banquet. He said the revolutionary army of Korea has covered a glorious road of victory up to now from the first days of its foundation, performing undying feats through its heroic struggle. Secretary Kim Il Sung founded the Korean People's Revolutionary Army, accomplished the historic cause of national liberation through the armed struggle and worked hard all his life to strengthen and develop the KPA into an ever-victorious revolutionary army, he noted, and continued: Today the armed forces of Korea under the leadership of Secretary Kim Jong Il have grown to be the driving force of the revolution and pillar of the country and creditably defended the socialist cause of Juche, holding the initiative in confrontation with the enemy. The officers and men of the KPA will always defend with credit the headquarters of the revolution led by Secretary Kim Jong Il on the foremost front of the revolution. The revolutionary armed forces of Korea will never allow anyone to violate the sovereignty and dignity of the country, he added.
