Secy. Kim Jong Il gives on-the-spot guidance to Mansudae Art Studio and Moranbong Theatre
Pyongyang, April 29 (KCNA) -- Secretary Kim Jong Il gave on-the-spot guidance to the Mansudae Art Studio and the Moranbong Theatre on April 27.
He first went to the Mansudae Art Studio, a Fine Art Production Centre of Korea.
He went round the monument to the on-the-spot teachings of President Kim Il Sung, the Korean Painting Production, the Mural Painting Production, the Sculpture Production, the Fine Art Exhibition Hall and other units, learned about the fine art production and put forward highly important tasks for the creation of fine arts.
After going round the magnificent production bases, he expressed great satisfaction over the conversion of the studio into a Fine Art Production Centre. He said the world-famous production centre is a great pride of the Korean people.
He said the WPK members and working people of the studio who are unfailingly loyal to the party have built up the production bases and produced a large number of famous Korean paintings, sculptures, embroideries, handiworks and other works worthy of national treasure, performing noteworthy feats in the history of fine arts.
He went on to say that the employees of the studio with fervent loyalty to President Kim Il Sung have done a lot of things for the consecration of the Kumsusan Memorial Palace.
He sent thanks to the party members and working people for their contributions to it.
He said as the works of art produced by the studio are worthy of national treasure, it is necessary to build a good exhibition hall so that the people may visit it any time.
He said the Korean paintings "covering a long road of bloody struggle" and "8 valiant fighters of Phohang" and other art pieces are masterpieces of great educational significance and such pieces should be produced in large numbers and sent to educational and other institutions so that the new generations may learn the noble revolutionary spirit of the forerunners.
He said it is important to thoroughly establish Juche in the production of fine arts and maintain the principle of historicism and it is essential to actively develop the Korean painting, jewelry painting and other pieces of art suited to the feelings and emotion of the Korean people and give a truthful representation of the spirit of the then times in all works.
He said all the works produced by the Mansudae Art Studio are proud, valuable cultural heritage and so it is necessary to pay deep attention to publishing and disseminating them widely at home and abroad.
He said the pieces of art play a very important role in building the capital into a more beautiful city and that various kinds of sculptures should be produced in large numbers and exhibited at parks and on streets so that Pyongyang wonderfully built by President Kim Il Sung may become more beautiful.
He said the employees of the studio have kept the studio as clean as a park and that all the units, including domains of science and education, should work hard to follow their example.
He then visited the Moranbong Theatre.
With a view to learning about acoustic conditions of the theatre, he heard orchestral music, symphony, vocal solo and instrumental music performed by the National Symphony Orchestra and the Mansudae Art Troupe. And he went round the theatre so as to acquaint himself with improvement and management of the theatre.
He said the theatre is a historic building in which many party and state functions were held in the presence of President Kim Il Sung and that the theatre associated with the feats of the President should be refurbished and managed better.
He was accompanied by secretaries of the WPK Central Committee Kye Ung Thae, Choe Thae Bok, Kim Kuk Thae, Kim Ki Nam and Kim Yong Sun and officials concerned.

Secretary Kim Jong Il sent thanks to Pyongyang citizens for having successfully ensured the military parade on the occasion of the 85th birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung and the 65th anniversary of the heroic Korean People's Army, reports the press.
Rodong Sinmun says that Secretary Kim Jong Il received a congratulatory letter from the foreign diplomatic corps here on the occasion of the KPA foundation anniversary.
It is reported in the paper that monuments to on-site instructions of President Kim Il Sung, Secretary Kim Jong Il and Comrade Kim Jong Suk, an indomitable communist revolutionary fighter, were erected at Kim Il Sung Higher Party School.
On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the proclamation of the land law by President Kim Il Sung Minju Joson deals with the strict implementation of the law.
Events took place in different countries and foreign newspapers carried articles to commemorate the birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung, says the press.
"Just cause of the South Korean Federation of University Student Councils is sure to win" is the title of a Rodong Sinmun article.
Given in the press is a statement issued by a spokesman for the DPRK Foreign Ministry as regards the anti-DPRK smear campaign called a "case of suspected kidnapping of a Japanese girl" in Japan.
Papers say in commentaries the adoption of the amendment to the legislation on land expropriation for the use of the U.S. military base in Okinawa shows the Japanese
reactionaries' humiliating submissive attitude towards the United States.
World news of Rodong Sinmun includes reports that China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan have reached an agreement on arms reduction in bordering areas and that a peace agreement was signed in Sudan between the Government and the anti-Government forces.
Japan criticised for sycophantic dependence on U.S. and wild ambition for overseas expansion
Pyongyang, April 29 (KCNA) -- The Japanese reactionaries rattled a draft amendment to the legislation on land expropriation for the use of the U.S. military base in Okinawa through the diet and the Japanese Prime Minister Reaffirmed the "importance" of the "Japan-U.S. Security system" during his visit to the U.S.
Rodong Sinmun and Minju Joson in signed commentaries today brand the toadeating attitude of the Japanese reactionaries towards the U.S. as an expression of their servility as well as the revelation of their sinister intention to realise their criminal design for overseas expansion at any cost.
The Japanese reactionaries are describing China and Russia as well as the Democratic People's Republic of Korea as the "factors of instability" and crying for "intensified Japan-U.S. security system" in a bid to justify their sycophancy and create a favourable atmosphere for overseas expansion, the papers say.
The peoples of Asia and the rest of the world are sharpening their vigilance against Japan's moves for overseas expansion, the papers note, adding that the Japanese reactionaries should clearly see the trend of the times and act with discretion.

Party on promulgation of Constitution of Yugoslavia
Pyongyang, April 29 (KCNA) -- Yugoslav Ambassador to Korea Ljubomir Djukic gave a party on Monday to mark the promulgation of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.
The Ambassador said in his speech that President Kim Il Sung paid deep concern to the relations with Yugoslavia. He noted with pleasure that the respected general and dear leader Secretary Kim Jong Il now leading the Democratic People' Republic of Korea to a great success is administering the same politics as the President did. He went on:
"Yugoslavia is ready to make all efforts to further develop mutual understanding and friendly and cooperative relations for the welfare and interests of the two peoples.
"Our country hopes that the peaceful reunification of the country will be achieved as early as possible under the wise leadership of Secrertary Kim Jong Il."

Just cause of "Hanchongryon" is sure to win
Pyongyang, April 29 (KCNA) -- The South Korean Federation of University Student Councils (Hanchongryon) will as ever remain the vanguard of the movement of south Korean people for indepednence, democracy and reunification and courageously fight till its just cause is accomplished, says Rodong Sinmun in a signed article today.
The organisation has creditably performed its historic mission and duty and covered a proud road of struggle, the article says, and goes on:
It is only too natural and realistic for the organisation to set itself the fighting program of realising independence, democracy and reunification because it reflects the will and desire of the south Koreans to live in a reunified, new society without aggressors and traitors.
The south Korean rulers are ruthlessly suppressing the organisation and students who have turned out in a patriotic struggle, describing them as a "pro-north enemy-benefiting organisation" and "leftist pro-communist forces".
The Kim Young Sam group have waged a wholesale offensive to stifle "Hanchongryon", contending that the top business in his term of office is to stifle the organisation. They recently let the agents of the "Agency for National Security Planning" manipulate the defection of some universities and colleges from the organisation in a bid to divide and disintegrate it from within.
"Hanchongryon" and students will brave the puppets' brutal suppression with a more vigorous struggle to defend the organisation and discharge with credit their mission and duty as befitting the vanguard of the patriotic struggle for reunification.
Only when the organisation stubbornly continues its already-started struggle in firm unity, not fearful of sacrificing for the righteous cause as it has done, will it emerge victorious without fail.
The organisation has a correct fighting goal and a very realistic method and form of struggle.
The slogan the organisation should hold high at present is the overthrow of Kim Young Sam.
The organisation and broad segments of democrats of south Korea demand that Kim Young Sam, the very one who caused the retrogressive revision of the fascist laws and the Hanbo loan scandal, be brought to trial and punished by history at once. Their call enjoys full support from the people.
No force on earth can match the organisation and patriotic-minded students fighting for their just cause.
