Cuban poet lauds Secy. Kim Jong Il
Pyongyang, June 6 (KCNA) -- A Cuban poet, Carmelo Garcia Fernandez, wrote a poem praising Secretary Kim Jong Il.
The poem titled "To the respected general Kim Jong Il, Supreme Commander" says the party, army and people of Korea have become a large force united in one mind, capable of defeating any formidable enemy, under his leadership and the people feel very proud of being guided by the great man.
Eulogizing him as star bright above both the north and the south of Korea and as sun inspiring humankind with a broad future, the poem notes that the people are shaping their destiny with dignity under his guidance.
It also says the people are advancing forward, faithful to his ideas and leadership, and will pull down the barrier of national division and achieve the reunification of Korea.
Press conference at Cuban Embassy
Pyongyang, June 6 (KCNA)-- Cuban Ambassador to Korea Jose Ramon Rodriguez Varona called a press conference at his Embassy on Thursday as regards the amendment to the law on foreign policy reform, which was adopted at the U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee on May 6.
The Ambassador told reporters that the adopted ten-point amendment is aimed at tightening blockade against Cuba and intensifying sabotages within the country.
He said the adoption of the bill is part of the U.S. anti- Cuban plan and a violation of other countries' sovereignty.
It is inviting a strong protest from among the world's people, he added.
Then, he gave answers to questions put by reporters.
Letter to world youth and student organizations
Pyongyang, June 6 (KCNA) -- The Korean Student Committee sent a letter to world youth and student organizations on Thursday as regards the fact that the south Korean authorities have been cracking down upon students' democratic activities at the point of the bayonet.
The south Korean authorities mobilized over 20,000 policemen to block the fifth-term ceremony of the South Korean Federation of University Student Councils (Hanchongryon), an umbrella body of one million students, the letter said, and added:
At the ceremony, "Hanchongryon" plans to decide on its participation in the 14th World Festival of Youth and Students to be held in Cuba from late July to early August.
The authorities claim that the participation in the festival, a "gathering of students from communist states", will be regarded as an "act of benefitting the enemy."
This shows that they are ignorant of the festival in which youth and students from five continents participate in the idea of peace and friendship, transcending difference in ideology and system, religious belief and race.
It is a natural right of "Hanchongryon" as a legitimate student organisation to participate in the 14th festival to meet with their north Korean and foreign counterparts and deepen friendship as they did during the 13th festival in Pyongyang. This can never be criminalized.
The south Korean authorities walked away some 600 students affiliated with "Hanchongryon" trying to hold the new-term ceremony and threatened that all those involved in protests will be "sternly punished".
However, the justice-minded students under "Hanchongryon" held the ceremony on the early morning of Thursday and are vigorously fighting against the authorities' fascist repression.
The Korean Student Committee expresses thanks to the world bodies for their support to and solidarity with the Korean students and people in the efforts for the independent and peaceful reunification of the country.
It also expresses the expectation that the organizations will pay attention to the grave situation prevailing in south Korea, take steps to check the south Korean authorities' repression of campus movement and extend positive support and solidarity to "Hanchongryon's" just struggle.

Among the officials were Ri Jong Ok and Pak Song Chol.
Amid the wreath-laying music, wreaths were laid in the name of the Workers' Party of Korea Central Committee, the DPRK Central People's Committee, the Administration Council, the Ministry of the People's Armed Forces, etc.

Japan criticised for her impudent act
Pyongyang, June 6 (KCNA) -- Japan, considering that it is a matter of time to get a permanent seat of the UN Security Council, demands that a new permanent member state of the UNSC should have veto power.
Rodong Sinmun today, commenting on this, describes her claim as arrogant and shameless.
The news analyst goes on:
The issue of electing more permanent member states of the UNSC cannot be solved without the support from developing countries. Developing countries keep Japan at arm's length.
The Japanese reactionaries with the vaulting ambition for getting a permanent seat of the UNSC are concerned about the attitude of developing countries. That is why they are trying to curry favor with those countries at any cost.
It requires little penetration to guess that Japan would look down upon other countries and stoop to any extraterritorial act, if she became a permanent member state of the UNSC.
If Japan got a permanent seat of the UNSC and became a political power, it would increase the danger of militarist aggression and lead to a terrible holocaust on humankind as in the past.
Japan has a lot of things to do before wanting to get a permanent seat of the UNSC. Her top priority at present is to atone for the past crimes. Without the liquidation of the past Japan can neither enjoy trust from the world people nor get a permanent seat of the UNSC.

At the inaugural meeting of the Mongolian Committee held on May 30, Chairman Ch. Surenjav and Vice-Chairman J. Tsevelmaa of the Mongolia-Korea Friendship Association were elected its Chairman and Vice-Chairman respectively.
It was decided at the meeting to hold a memorial service, retrospective meeting, seminar and other events during the days of commemoration in the capital and local areas.

CPRF demands resignation of Kim Young Sam
Pyongyang, June 6 (KCNA) -- The Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland (CPRF) issued a letter on June 5 over the fact that the grave political confrontation is being aggravated day by day owing to the shameless acts of Kim Young Sam, "President" of south Korea.
The letter said:
Kim Young Sam spent 2,000 billion won or scores of times more than the legally limited amount at the "Presidential Election" of 1992, but he refused to clarify the "Election" fund, laying the blame at the door of the "political camp," "wrong political practices" and "Election system" of south Korea.
Kim Young Sam fabricated his "Election as President" by squandering the taxes collected from workers, peasants and other people and made a fortune by abusing power. Far from making an apology, he even threatened the people with an "important decision". For this alone, he deserves punishment.
The south Korean people strongly call for the immediate resignation of Kim Young Sam. They are determined to make him pay dearly for his crimes.
Kim Young Sam must immediately step down, as demanded by all parties, all groups and people from all walks of life in south Korea.
If Kim Young Sam refuses to resign, he will be overthrown.
Kim Young Sam group hit for harsher suppression
Pyongyang, June 6 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today in a signed commentary denounces the Kim Young Sam group for intensifying the suppression of the South Korean Federation of University Student Councils (Hanchongryon).
The analyst further says:
On June 3 the fascist clique gave the prosecution throughout south Korea instructions to immediately arrest the leading officials of "Hanchongryon" who manipulated a demonstration for the inaugural meeting of the fifth-term "Hanchongryon."
Still worse, they claim that the leadership of the "Hanchongryon" is "pro-north forces" following the "north's strategy of making revolution in south Korea".
Their smear campaign is intended to prevent their own destruction.
With any smear campaign the Kim Young Sam fascist clique cannot justify their brutal suppression nor conceal their criminal design.
Kim Young Sam is now making desperate efforts to get rid of the most serious ruling crisis caused by the Hanbo loan scandal and the controversial "Presidential Election" funds, but in vain. An increasing number of the people are calling for his "early resignation" and "immediate overthrow".
The harsher suppression of students and people will only precipitate the Kim Young Sam fascist clique's destruction.
Military provocation on West sea
Pyongyang, June 6 (KCNA) -- Three warships of the south Korean puppets intruded deep into the territorial waters of the DPRK on the West sea on Thursday and fired shells at some ten peaceful fishing boats.
The warships infiltrated from Taeyonphyong island into the waters south of Ssanggyo-Ri, Kangryong county, South Hwanghae Province, and surrounded the fishing boats in a bid to kidnap them.
When a naval patrol ship of the Korean People's Army appeared on the scene, the enemy ships fired shells at the fishing boats before fleeing south.
This brutal military provocation did not develop into an armed conflict entirely because of the patience and self- control of the KPA soldiers.

Pyongyang, June 6 (KCNA) -- Papers here today observe the 51st anniversary of the Korean Children's Union.

Unforgettable story of Mirim field
Pyongyang, June 6 (KCNA) -- It is 50 years since President Kim Il Sung helped the peasants with rice transplanting on Mirim field right after Korea's liberation from the Japanese imperialist colonial rule.
On June 7, 1947, the President went to the Mirim field.
He shook hands with cheering peasants and stepped into the paddy field, urging them to transplant rice seedlings together with him.
When an official offered a pair of boots to him, the President asked him if he had ever seen the peasants transplanting rice seedlings in boots. He went on to say that it is convenient to transplant rice seedlings with bare feet.
When village women prepared some food, the President offered it first to old men. And he acquainted himself with the farming and livelihood of the villagers and told them about an ambitious plan of new rural construction in liberated Korea.
At sunset an official repeatedly informed him that it was time for him to be off for a function. The President then shook hands with the peasants before leaving the paddy field.
The tender image of the President is still vivid in the minds of peasants and other people despite the passage of half a century.
The yearning of all the koreans for the President, who always found himself among the people, is growing stronger with the approach of his third death anniversary. They are determined to bring about bumper crops this year, come what May.

Meetings will be held in the south, the north and abroad this year marking the 25th anniversary of the publication of the July 4 north-south joint statement, and a joint appeal be adopted there to call on the 70 million Koreans to realise pan-national dialogue for national independence and peace.

Foreign Ministry spokesman on Ikeda's remarks
Pyongyang, June 6 (KCNA) -- The spokesman for the Foreign Ministry of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea issued the following statement today:
It has been reported that Japanese Foreign Minister Ikeda at a recent meeting of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives urged the DPRK to dispose of its resources properly, strive for stable life of people and reduce armaments in order to solve the food problem. He even slandered the policy of the DPRK leadership, saying what the "Administrator" should do and how.
If it is true, we cannot but regard his remarks as an intolerable challenge to the Korean people.
The biggest problem is that he took a very rude attitude towards the leadership of the DPRK.
As is known to the world, Secretary Kim Jong Il, busy as he is leading all affairs of the party, the state and the army, always pays deep attention to the people's living conditions and stands in the forefront to overcome the current difficulties.
That is why the Korean people regard him as their father and the sun of the nation and are determined to share weal and woe with him.
If anyone hurls mud at the headquarters of our revolution, we will never pardon him, whoever he may be.
Ikeda's remarks revealed an unreasonable intention to interfere in the DPRK's internal affairs. He slandered the DPRK's policies, contending that it should solve the food shortage in such a way as "arms reduction".
Where and how we direct our resources and manpower is a matter pertaining to our sovereignty.
Obviously, it is vital to our existence that we, subjected to persistent military threat by the imperialists and reactionaries, attach importance to the military and further develop our revolutionary armed forces to be invincible.
If Japan is truly concerned about our food shortage, it should clearly see the situation, instead of crying for "arms reduction".
Our army and people will as ever firmly defend our socialist system, a valuable gain of our revolution.
Especially, our people will devotedly defend the headquarters of the revolution headed by Secretary Kim Jong Il and annihilate those who provoke us even a little bit, wherever they may be.
