He was accompanied by Jo Myong Rok, Director of the KPA General Political Department= Kim Yong Chun, Chief of the KPA general staff= and staff members of the KPA Supreme Command.

He said the defence line of the country is impregnable as dependable soldiers stand on the forefront.
He attached great importance to the tasks of the unit to defend the forefront area on the west coast and gave the unit important tasks to increase its fighting efficiency and fortify the defence theatre.
He then looked round a monument to President Kim Il Sung's on-the-spot guidance, a monument to the President's on-the-spot instructions and relics.
He said the relics should be well preserved and education through them be intensified so that all soldiers may always feel grateful to the President.
He saw a training of servicemen. He expressed great satisfaction with the growth of the servicemen to be a-match-for-a-hundred combatants and gave them a machine gun, an automatic rifle and a pair of binoculars as gifts.
He then went round the compound of the unit and saw art pieces created by servicemen. He said that the people's army has set an example in the cultural revolution, too, and that the whole society should learn from its admirable morale.

Byambaa, Russian Ambassador Valery Denisov, Polish charge d'affaires ad interim Mieczyslaw Dedo and Embassy officials, Chinese students and apprentices and Mongolian studens studying here.

South Korean puppets to introduce stinger missiles
Pyongyang, June 12 (KCNA) -- The south Korean puppet clique are scheming to introduce 307 million dollars worth of 1,060 "stinger" missiles and 200 launchers from the United States, according to a radio report from Seoul.
It was revealed by the plan for sale of "stinger" missiles to south Korea announced by the U.S. Defence Department.
The Kim Young Sam group, forsaken by the people for their anti-social policy and amassment of fortune, are continuing to introduce war supplies in league with the U.S. bellicose elements in a bid to seek a way out in their war provocation manoeuvres against the north.
Party given to mark Russian National Day
Pyongyang, June 12 (KCNA) -- Valery Denisov, Russian Ambassador to Korea, gave a party at the Okryu Restaurant here Wednesday on the occasion of the National Day of Russia.
Invited to the party were Yang Hyong Sop, Chairman of the Supreme People's Assembly, officials concerned and foreign diplomatic envoys in Korea.
Speeches were exchanged there.
Grave provocation by s. Korean puppets in MDL area
Pyongyang, June 12 (KCNA) -- The south Korean puppets committed a grave provocation against the DPRK on June 11.
People's army soldiers were on routine patrol duty along the designated route from marker No. 0330 of the Military Demarcation Line to marker No. 0340 in the western sector of the front.
Between 11:05 and 11:35, the south Korean puppets openly threatened the people's army soldiers through loudspeakers installed near the MDL markers nos. 0013, 0024, 0038 and 0050, shouting that if the KPA soldiers continued the patrol, they would take a countermeasure and turn the area into a sea of fire. At around 12:30, they again prattled about "retaliation" near the MDL marker No. 0211.
This is an intentional and premeditated provocation of the Kim Young Sam fascist clique to unleash another war against the DPRK in a bid to extricate themselves from the isolation and rejection within and without.
This reckless provocation in the area of the MDL in which the armed forces of both sides stand face to face is evoking bitter hatred for the enemy among the KPA soldiers.
It is an invariable will and spirit of the KPA soldiers to take a self-defensive measure to mercilessly annihilate the enemy who dare to violate an inch of land and a blade of grass of the socialist homeland.
If the Kim Young Sam group dare to unleash a war like a new-born puppy knowing no fear of the tiger, they will face a thousand-fold retalitation.
Press review
Pyongyang, June 12 (KCNA) -- Papers here today carry a report that Secretary Kim Jong Il, Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army, inspected the headquarters of the combined unit of the KPA that defends the forefront area on the West Coast, illustrated by a picture of him looking at the defense area and learning about the topography and deployment of forces, a souvenir picture he had taken with the officers and men of the combined unit, pictures of him going round materials reminiscent of President Kim Il Sung's on-the-spot guidance and a monument to the President's on-the-spot guidance and a picture of him seeing a training of servicemen.
Minju Joson edits an article on Secretary Kim Jong Il's noble efforts to exalt the revolutionary exploits of President Kim Il Sung, illustrated by a Korean painting portraying Secretary Kim Jong Il finding himself among servicemen on Height 1211.
Papers editorially call for effecting an ephocal turn in agricultural production in hearty response to the telegraph order of Supreme Commander Kim Jong Il.
Conspicuous in the press is news about innovations effected by agricultural working people in the weeding following the completion of rice-transplanting.
Commentaries of papers denounce the Kim Young Sam fascist clique for repressing the South Korean Federation of University Student Councils by branding it as pro-north Korean.
Papers come out with articles exposing the crimes of Kim Young Sam in plunging south Korea into a serious political and economic crisis and confusion.
An article of Minju Joson brands south Korea as a politically most backward area in the world.
Rodong Sinmun runs an article saying that the imperialists are mercilessly trampling underfoot the sovereignty of other countries and another article disclosing the deceptiveness of Japan's "independent diplomacy".
S. Korean opposition parties on campaign fund
Pyongyang, June 12 (KCNA) -- The opposition "National Congress for New Politics" and "United Liberal Democrats" in south Korea on June 7 called upon Kim Young Sam to open to the public the 1992 "Presidential Election" fund, a radio report from Seoul said.
The "NCNP" in a caucus meeting demanded Kim Young Sam open to the public the total amount of the campaign fund of the "youth federation for democracy" and other private organizations of the ruling party, besides the 12 billion won announced by the prosecution.
The "ULD" said that the 12 billion won used by Kim Hyon Chol as campaign fund is only a bit of the whole.
Heroic Korean people will surely win
Pyongyang, June 12 (KCNA) -- The heroic Korean people are now undergoing temporary hardships caused by outside forces' maneuverings and repeated natural disasters. But they will surely overcome the present difficulties to become victors under the guidance of their great leader and the veteran party.
Tan Kee Kwong, deputy Secretary General of the C.C., the Malaysian People's Movement, stressed this, giving his impressions of the DPRK.
He said that the moment he arrived in Pyongyang, he was struck with admiration at its beauty and magnificence.
"In a word, the capital city of Pyongyang is the best city for the people in the world," he said.
It is a brilliant fruition of the wise leadership of President Kim Il Sung and Secretary Kim Jong Il and the Korean people's creative efforts that the city has grown so grandiose as it is today in a short period, he said.
He said he could keenly feel, seeing the realities of Korea, that the people-centred policy advanced by President Kim Il Sung is being invariably carried into practice.
Turning to the friendly relations between the Malaysian People's Movement and the Workers' Party of Korea, he said the two parties have a solid foundation for the development of mutual relations of friendship and cooperation.
It is because the two parties stand on the joint front in the struggle to oppose outside intervention, maintain independence and smash the imperialists' maneuverings to infuse their value and way of life, he added.
The movement, he declared, will make every possible effort to further the friendly relations with the WPK.
Anti-Kim Young Sam struggle called for
Pyongyang, June 12 (KCNA) -- The spokesman for the Japan mission of the National Democratic Front of South Korea (NDFSK) released a statement on Tuesday calling upon the people including dissidents to launch an anti-Kim Young Sam struggle to overthrow the corrupt "civilian" regime and establish a rightup, democratic new government.
The statement said:
Though ten years have passed since the June people's resistance, independence and democratization of south Korean society have not yet been realised.
The "civilian" dictatorial regime, which has engaged in misrule, wrongdoings, treacheries and separatist acts, has been almost dead since the railroading of evil laws through "parliament" and the disclosure of the Hanbo scandal and Kim Hyon Chol's irregularities.
The situation strongly demands that the national pro-democracy forces launch another powerful struggle against the Kim Young Sam regime in close unity, with no expectation and illusion about the pro-U.S. reactionary conservatives including Kim Dae Jung.
The U.S. interference in south Korea's internal affairs and its behind-the-scene manipulation should be fully exposed.
S. Korea's Jongyojo seeks legalization
Pyongyang, June 12 (KCNA) -- Progressive teachers of south Korea have fought for the legalization of the National Union of Teachers (Jongyojo), according to information issued by the Pyongyang mission of the National Democratic Front of South Korea.
Though the Kim Young Sam regime has deprived teachers and public officials of the right to organize and continued harsh suppression of their activities, they, seeking the legalization of Jongyojo, inaugurated "offices for the promotion of Jongyojo" at the central headquarters and the Seoul, Pusan and 14 other branches. The Jongyojo Executive Committee was formed with teachers on the job and nearly 50 percent of branch and chapter chiefs are also teachers in active service.
The Jongyojo Chairman told a press conference that Jongyojo will officially fulfil the role of a trade union under the same name irrespective of whether the Government recognizes it or not.
Jongyojo, unyielding to the Kim Young Sam regime's obstructions, is fighting to restore itself and win its legalization in such way as rally, demonstration and publication of a statement.
The teachers' efforts for the legalization of their organization will surely prove successful, enjoying full support from the "Korean Confederation of Trade Unions" and the South Korean Federation of University Student Councils, the information added.
Crackdown on "Hanchongryon" to be hardened
Pyongyang, June 12 (KCNA) -- Pyongyang-based papers continue to berate the south Korean fascist clique's white terrorism against the South Korean Federation of University Student Councils (Hanchongryon).
Some days ago, the puppets called a "working-level meeting of joint investigation headquarters against leftist offenders", at which they branded "Hanchongryon" as an "organization benefitting the enemy" and made a decision to "legally punish" all of "Hanchongryon's" hardcore members by invoking the "National Security Law".
This is the height of impudence, stresses Rodong Sinmun in a commentary today.
The news analyst continues:
By incriminating "Hanchongryon's" justifiable action, the puppets are intending to shift on to "Hanchongryon" the blame for politico-economic crisis and confusion of south Korea. And, with it as a pretext, they are going to stamp out the organization and, furthermore, block the struggle of pro-democracy forces so as to remain in power.
We cannot tolerate the Kim Young Sam fascist clique connecting "Hanchongryon" to the north.
We consider the sword-brandishing against "Hanchongryon" as an open challenge and provocation against the north.
The puppets will pay dearly for their criminal acts.
Minju Joson underlines in a commentary that the Kim Young Sam group should behave with discretion, mindful that their move to obliterate "Hanchongryon" will precipitate their destruction.
Papers call for epochal turn in agricultural production
Pyongyang, June 12 (KCNA) -- Pyongyang-based papers today editorially call for an epochal turn in agricultural production in hearty response to the telegraph order of Supreme Commander Kim Jong Il dated June 6.
The issue of the telegraph order shows a high appreciation of the agricultural working people, people's army soldiers and helpers who are valiantly struggling through thick and thin, responding to the call of the Workers' Party of Korea, Rodong Sinmun in an editorial says, and goes on:
It is the steadfast will of the WPK to victoriously conclude the "Arduous March" by reaping a bumper harvest this year.
The issue of the telegraph order is a clear demonstration of the wise leadership of Secretary Kim Jong Il who is successfully carrying out the difficult tasks in socialist construction by taking hold of the people's army.
It is his steadfast will to step up the general march of socialism with the might of the people's army that is moving nountains and filling up sea. He unfolded a grand plan to effect an epochal turn in this year's agricultural production and took a revolutionary step to mobilize people's army soldiers in the socialist countryside.
The completion in time of the rice-transplanting, the most important process of the year's farming, under the unprecedentedly unfavourable condition clearly proves that his step is all right.
The telegraph order contains his great expectation that all the agricultural working people, people's army soldiers and helpers will fully display the might of the revolutionary people and army in the immediate farming campaign with doubled efforts.
The agricultural sector is the most important front to which the WPK is directing greatest efforts.
All the agricultural working people, people's army soldiers and helpers will thoroughly implement the telegraph order of Secretary Kim Jong Il, bearing deep in mind the great pride and self-confidence of making revolution under his leadership, and thus reap a rich harvest this year on all accounts.

Foreign Ministry spokesman on review of "U.S.-Japan defence cooperation guidelines"
Pyongyang, June 12 (KCNA) -- The "interim report" on the review of the "U.S.-Japan defence cooperation guidelines" reveals the strategic U.S. purposes of using Japan as a shock brigade in establishing supremacy over Aasia with the policy of strength in disregard of the end of the Cold War as well as the sinister intention of Japan to realise overseas expansion with the help of the United States.
The spokesman for the Foreign Ministry of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea made the remark in a statement today.
The statement says:
The end of the Cold War deprived the United States of the excuse for the existence of the U.S.-Japan Security Alliance aimed at "defending the Japanese territory."
That is why the United States raised a new pretext of "coping with a crisis around Japan," redefined the purpose of the alliance as "preserving stability in Asia" and set out to take military measures for this purpose.
Everyone knows that by the "area around Japan" the United States means the whole of northeast Asia including the Korean Peninsula.
It is self-evident, therefore, that the review of the "U.S.-Japan defence cooperation guidelines" is a prelude to the second Cold War in the Asia-pacific region.
What we take a particularly serious note of is that the United States and Japan abuse the DPRK to justify the review of the guidelines.
As soon as the "interim report" was published, U.S. mass media described the guidelines as targeted at the Korean Peninsula.
The U.S. and Japan are now confirming in legal terms a plan of burden sharing in offensive military action while spreading a false rumour about possibility of war started by the DPRK that is suffering from temporary food shortage.
The fact proves that the "interim report" is an aggression war scenario which has been worked out to make a forestalling attack on the DPRK first.
The United States has told us that the "four-way talks" is aimed at ending the state of armistice and arranging a framework of lasting peace in the Korean Peninsula through dialogue and negotiations, trying to persuade us of great "benefit" from the "talks".
If true, we cannot but ask why the United States, which is eager to open the "talks", is stepping up preparations for a military attack on its dialogue partner.
The present objective situation requires us to be ready for both dialogue and war.
We, in response to the U.S. double-dealing game, exercise utmost vigilance in dialogue and, at the same time, keep ourselves fully prepared to cope with any emergency. The same applies to Japan.
Japan, which has persistently avoided the normalization of ties with the DPRK with unreasonable pretexts and preconditions, intends to make its appearance again as a belligerent. This is what we have long supposed.
Our armed forces are fully ready to deliver a prompt and severe counterblows to Japan in case it fully takes part in a war against us.
The United States and Japan had better act with prudence, mindful that reckless military threat and aggression against the DPRK will harm themselves.
