Pyongyang, June 23 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Central Committee of the Korean Social Democratic Party published a statement on Sunday denouncing the Kim Young Sam fascist clique's repressive moves to stifle the South Korean Federation of University Student Councils (Hanchongryon). The fascist clique branded "Hanchongryon" as "organization profiting the enemy" and are making frantic efforts to disorganize it totally, the statement pointed out, and said: The KSDP Central Committee scathingly condemns the repressive move as a fascist outrage of violating the students' elementary autonomous right, a premeditated challenge to the DPRK and a villainous violation of human rights and democracy. Opposition parties in south Korea should not join in overlooking and fostering the suppression of "Hanchongryon" nor use the campus movement for their political purpose. The fascist clique must stop cracking down on "Hanchongryon" at once and set free all the imprisoned students without delay.

The work was published on the significant day, he said, and went on: "Comrade Kim Jong Il in his work gave explanation to the significance, tasks and ways of maintaining the Juche character and valuing the national character in the revolution and construction and indicated the basic principle in carrying out the popular masses' cause for independence, socialism." Rodong Sinmun on suppression of "Hanchongryon" in s. Korea

Pyongyang, June 23 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today comes out with a signed commentary on the south Korean fascist clique's frantic suppression of the South Korean Federation of University Student Councils (Hanchongryon) over the killing of a "young citizens". They issued orders of arrest for six more students including Choe Won Sok, a student of Konkuk University, alleging that they were also involved in the "killing" besides the already accused nine students. The news analyst of the paper says: This fascist crackdown clearly shows that the Kim Young Sam group are systematically intensifying the "scorched-earth" operation to stifle "Hanchongryon". The Kim Young Sam group's ever-intensified suppression of "Hanchongryon" indicates that they may go over to an indiscriminate scorched-earth offensive against all the pro-reunification, pro-democracy forces of south Korea. They must stop the ill-intentioned plots and vicious subversive moves against "Hanchongryon" at once and step down without delay as unanimously demanded by the people.

United States urged to stop wrecking Mid Eeast peace process

Pyongyang, June 23 (KCNA) -- The house of representatives of the United States decided to recognize East Kuds as part of the legitimate capital of Israel and move the U.S. Embassy from Tel Aviv to East Kuds. Commenting on this fact, a news analyst of Rodong Sinmun today says: The decision means U.S. recognition of Israel's annexation of East Kuds, which is an open violation of all resolutions of the international community. The Arab people are endeavouring to check unwarrantable behaviour of Israel and bring the peace process back to life. The U.S. house of representatives' adoption of the decision at this very juncture is instigating Israel's tough stand and design to expand its territory and is throwing a wet blanket over the efforts of the Arab nations and the countries concerned to save the suspended Mid East peace process. The United States is neither a "fair mediator" in the Mid East peace process nor a "friend" of Arab nations. It is the wrecker of this process. In order to bring peace to the Mid East area at an early date, obstructive acts must not be allowed and efforts must be made for a fair and comprehensive solution to its issue. The United States would be well advised to stop wrecking the Mid East peace process.

Servicemen make innovation in helping farmers

Pyongyang, June 23 (KCNA) -- Men and officers of three services of the Korean People's Army have been making innovation in farming in response to the telegraph order of Secretary Kim Jong Il, Supreme Commander of the KPA. By displaying the revolutionary spirit of soldiers, they are combating shortage of fuel with substitute one and operating tractors at full capacity for plow weeding on maize fields. Thus, they are overfulfilling the daily weeding plan at 110-120 percent. They are also pressing ahead with weeding on paddy field with weeders of their own making. Out of an idea of taking upon themselves socialist construction and farming as well as national defence, they began helping farmers from early spring. Their style of work touches farmers' hearts. With their help, transplanting of seedlings, a breakthrough for bumper harvest, was finished in time and the weeding is gaining momentum at an unprecedented pace. Right after receiving the telegraph order, they finished the first weeding on farms to which they are assigned. Rice plants are growing well on paddy fields under the care of servicemen. Farmers and servicemen throughout the country are manuring the crops as required by the Juche method of farming.
