Chosun Ilbo will be made to pay

Pyongyang, June 27 (KCNA) -- The Chosun Ilbo newspaper in south Korea, which styles itself as a press tycoon and rightist conservative, carried a most provocative anti communist, anti-DPRK editorial on June 24, putting a period to the patience of the north. This editorial came when the Kim Young Sam fascist warmongers' moves for new war against the north were getting more vicious than ever. The newspaper slandered the dignified political system of the north most viciously ever in its anticommunist false propaganda. We can never connive at their frontal attack on our system, which means the lifeblood and dignity of our people. Ever since Korea's liberation from Japanese rule, the Chosun Ilbo newspaper has engaged itself in hindering democracy in south Korean society and national reunification and inciting mistrust and discord between fellow countrymen, as the most reactionary press medium owned by pro-Japanese traitors, extremely rightist anticommunists and their clans. The June 24 editorial also insulted the inviolable name of Korea, though the newspaper itself is named after Korea (Chosun). This is patent proof that the newspaper is devoid of self-determination and national identity. While hurling mud at the northern system, the newspaper tried to beautify south Korea, which is, however, on the verge of total collapse now, with all spheres of politics, the economy and culture being violated by foreign forces and national identity being no longer in sight due to the Kim Young Sam regime's treacherous open-door policy for socalled "Internationalisation" and "Globalisation." It is none other than the northern half of Korea that defends national dignity and interest, preserves self-determination and national identity and exalts the prestige of the motherland. That is why the south Korean people look up to the north as a beacon of hope in their effort for independent development free from U.S. domination and subjugation. The allied forces of imperialism are resorting to political pressure, economic blockade and military threat against the DPRK, which they regard as a thorn in their flesh as it is building socialism invariably, preserving self-determination and national identity in the revolution and construction. Though the situation has become rigorous, our Party and Government have triumphantly guided our people in their "Arduous March" for the nation of today and the future, reliably defending socialism and national dignity, undaunted by any formidable enemy's threat. In this glorious struggle our people and army remain faithful to the cause of the Party, united around it in one mind and full of confidence and optimism. Chosun Ilbo, however, slandered our people, who are defending the nation's independence and dignity, far from sympathizing with their admirable struggle from the national point of view. Indeed, the daily's editorial has no shred of nationality. Those who authored the editorial, ignoring the situation and betraying the soul of the nation, are undoubtedly traitors to the nation. With the editorial, the daily has earned itself ill fame not only as phoney and venal newspaper but as mouthpiece of anti-communist, anti-north maniacs. We have already made clear that there is a limit to our patience. We, viewing the anti-communist, anti-north editorial as an offpsirng of the desperate manipulation of the Kim Young Sam regime, in the grip of the serious crisis, and the "Agency for National Security Planning" (ANSP), consider it the most grave provocation and declaration of war against the north. Now that the south Korean puppets attacked the north through Chosun Ilbo, we have a right to take a counteraction. Our counteraction will continue in every way until the south Korean traitors stop their breath and Chosun Ilbo ceases to exist. We will no longer regard the daily as a press organ of south Korea but as our disgusting enemy and a group of criminals who fueled confrontation in the nation and will deliver a merciless retaliatory blow at them. All our people and servicemen are resolved to sternly punish the south Korean puppets and Chosun Ilbo. Chosun Ilbo, a faithful servant of the "ANSP", will have to pay dearly for the crime and the perpetrators will meet a disgraceful doom.

Moves against "Hanchongryon" accused

Pyongyang, June 27 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Central Committee of the Chondoist Chongu Party published a statement on Thursday denouncing the south Korean rulers for outrageous fascist offensive against the South Korean Federation of University Student Councils (Hanchongryon). The statement said, "the entire Chondogyo believers and Chongu party members in the DPRK bitterly curse the Kim Young Sam group, considering their moves against 'Hanchongryon' to be an outrageous challenge to the idea of our Party, that is to remove violence and save the people, as well as to justice and patriotism." It further said: Kim Young Sam would be well advised to reflect on his heinous crimes before repressing patriotic students of "Hanchongryon" on charges of "benefitting the enemy" and "violence". As history shows, those against the nation are doomed to ruin. We believe that students, national religionists and people from all other walks of life in south Korea will fight in firm unity and valiantly to overthrow the unparalleled Kim Young Sam trying to stifle the patriotic "Hanchongryon".

Press review

Pyongyang, June 27 (KCNA) -- Papers here today frontpage news that Secretary Kim Jong Il sent thanks to officials and working people who set examples in fulfilling their revolutionary duty. Rodong Sinmun carries an editorial calling for living and fighting, full of revolutionary optimism. The paper edits articles on Secretary Kim Jong Il's aphorism "trial is impermanent and victory is everlasting." The paper carries an article entitled "pleased to meet coal-miners", illustrated by a picture of President Kim Il Sung meeting workers of the June 13 Coal Mine (March, 1959). The daily runs an article on the great life of President Kim Il Sung, who broke through grave ordeals with the strategy of constant offensive. Seen in the paper is an article saying that President Kim Il Sung with the idea of patriotism guided the composition of the national anthem. Minju Joson carries an article headlined "Our leader, Eternal Sun of People," illustrated by a Korean painting "The Sun of All People." Rodong Sinmun continues introducing achievements made by the Korean people for the last three years in their efforts to carry out the behests of the President. The paper informs the readers of achievements in coal industry. The press gives an account of meetings of teachers and students held in Pyongyang to actively support the just cause of the South Korean Federation of University Student Councils (Hanchongryon). Seen in Rodong Sinmun is a statement made by a spokesman for the Central Committee of the Chondoist Chongu Party denouncing the south Korean rulers for trying to obliterate "Hanchongryon". Minju Joson dedicates an article to the 20th anniversary of the Independence of Djibouti. Rodong Sinmun says that the deployment of the U.S. 5th fleet forces in Japan is for ignition of Korean War.

Righteous and just declaration

Pyongyang, June 27 (KCNA) -- The General Student Council of Sogang University of South Korea made public a statement recently, in which it declared that it would not withdraw from the South Korean Federation of University Student Councils (Hanchongryon) in defiance of the puppet authorities' repression of campus movement. The statement said: "Hanchongryon" is a mass body established through students' direct election. The authorities have threatened to arrest any of its deputies if he refuses to secede from it. It is an open denial of the history of campus movement. Commenting on the fact, Rodong Sinmun today says: This is a statement of the unanimous will and resolution of the south Korean students= it shows that the just cause of "Hanchongryon" cannot be obliterated by sword-brandishing. With no brutal suppression and base intrigues can the Kim Young Sam group bring to their knees the south Korean students who are politically awakened and trained through a long struggle. As "Hanchongryon" proudly announced and the south Korean people recognize, it is an independent organization of a million students that has devotedly struggled under the banner of independence, democracy and reunification since its appearance. The south Korean students will never pardon the puppets who are trying to impair their proud fighting tradition and honor.

Shabby toadyism

Pyongyang, June 27 (KCNA) -- Kim Young Sam of south Korea on a trip to the united states expressed "thanks" for "contribution" and "sacrifice" of American soldiers involved in the Korean War 47 years ago, Wednesday when a group of them were invited to a hotel in New York, where he was staying, according to a radio report from Seoul. This toadyism could be done only by the foul flunkeyist Kim Young Sam and it is an insult to the entire fellow countrymen and an intolerable challenge to history. It is no accident that he flew to the United States to give such soft soap to the war criminals who had inflicted immeasurable calamities upon the Korean nation. The trip was motivated by his insidious purpose to keep the remainder of his dirty life, currying favour with outside aggressor forces. This purpose was concentrically revealed when the traitor asked those war criminals of imperialism to continue their "support" to the "efforts" for "maintenance of peace in the Korean Peninsula", that is the anti-national moves of the south Korean puppets to keep the division of Korea.

Nepalese national seminar on Secy. Kim Jong Il's work

Pyongyang, June 27 (KCNA) -- A national seminar on Secretary Kim Jong Il's celebrated work "Giving Priority to Ideological Work Is Essential for Accomplishing Socialism" was held in Nepal on June 18, the day before the 33rd anniversary of the start of his activities at the Workers' Party of Korea Central Committee. A reporter and speakers at the seminar said that Secretary Kim Jong Il in the work clarified why socialism had failed in the former Soviet Union and other East European countries and what is important in successfully carrying out socialist construction. They stressed this significant work is based on the historical experience of the Korean revolution and on the clearcut analysis of the realities of the world's communist movement. A congratulatory message to Secretary Kim Jong Il was adopted at the seminar. The message noted that through the seminar they have keenly felt the need to intensify ideological work if socialism is to be defended and advanced to the final victory. Slighting ideological work when building socialism amounts to neglecting the key to socialism and this mistake will inevitably result in the collapse of socialism, it stressed. It said: "Reading the work, we more deeply realized the truth that even if a socialist system has been established and firm economic foundations for socialism laid, people do not acquire socialist ideology automatically and the work of eradicating the outmoded ideas from people's minds and equipping them with socialist ideology can be done only through tireless ideological education." The message wished Secretary Kim Jong Il a long life in good health and great success in wisely guiding the Korean people's struggle for the final victory of the Korean revolution.

Army-people cooperation in farming

Pyongyang, June 27 (KCNA) -- Servicemen and civilians are pushing ahead with weeding with concerted efforts in the countryside of Korea. Soldiers of the Korean People's Army, determined to take charge of both national defence and socialist construction, fulfil their duty as revolutionary armed forces in assistance to the countryside. The soldiers always undertake difficult and hard work and do farming as befits soldiers. They contributed to finishing the rice transplantation in time in Sukchon, Mundok, Samchon, Onchon, Hwangju, Hamju and other counties which are known as granaries. The soldiers in Sukchon county made over 36,000 medium and small-sized farming implements by themselves and sent them to the state-run farms in the county. In spare time, they repair farming machines, implements and field lanes. Farmers regard soldiers as their brothers of children and aid them with all sincerity. Some 10,000 new weeding tools are used on cooperative farms in South Hwanghae Province, which takes a large share in the nation's agricultural production. They were sent by soldiers involved in the construction of the Anbyon Youth Power Station. Ri Man Song, Vice-Chairman of the State Agricultural Commission, said that soldiers of the KPA in the countryside do farming in a militant way that unprecedented revolutionary enthusiasm is sweeping every field.

Rodong Sinmun calls for struggling with revolutionary optimism

Pyongyang, June 27 (KCNA) -- All the officials, members of the Workers' Party of Korea and working people should fight all the more vigorously with faith in victory and revolutionary optimism along the road indicated by Secretary Kim Jong Il, though they are confronted with weighty revolutionary tasks in arduous struggle. Rodong Sinmun today says this in an editorial today. The paper continues: It is a tradition of the Korean people to live and fight with confidence in victory and optimism under whatever difficult conditions. The last three years have been grave trials to our Party and people, indeed. But our people did not break down nor sat in pessimism in spite of the painful loss of their leader, President Kim Il Sung, and manifold trials and hardships. They rose up, changing sorrow into strength and courage and more dynamically accelerated the revolution and construction than ever in the spirit of "Arduous March" with the firm confidence that they will always win under the leadership of Secretary Kim Jong Il. Confidence in victory underlies their courage and optimism in their efforts to exalt the dignity and honor of socialist Korea under the revolutionary banner of Juche. As we fight in this spirit and stamina, we can overcome any hardship and conquer any fortress.

Rodong Sinmun on President Kim Il Sung's life shining with strategy of braving trials

Pyongyang, June 27 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today carries an article titled "Great life splendid with strategy of braving hard trials" the article says: The revolutionary history of President Kim Il Sung was a sacred history of a great revolutionary who straightened out difficulties without a moment's vacillation all his life. When he started revolutionary activities, the Korean nation was at stake and the prospect of the revolution gloomy. At that time, he declared an anti-Japanese war with some comrades and two pistols. In the last days of his revolutionary life, too, he smashed the imperialists' anti-DPRK, anti-socialist acts with a revolutionary offensive and defended Korean socialism in the strong spirit he displayed in the anti-Japanese war. His history was also a glorious history shining with strategy and tactics of braving difficulties and carrying out all the historic tasks in the revolution and construction. He had never sidestepped difficulties and trials in the dangerous underground revolutionary struggle, armed struggle, hard-fought modern war, social revolution, natural transformation and anti-imperialist war minus shooting. It was President Kim Il Sung who defeated the two strong imperialisms, U.S. and Japanese, with the strategy and tactics, defended the nation's dignity and sovereignty and demonstrated the spirit of heroic Korea. It was also he who made a new history of creation and construction and built the best socialism centred on the masses of the people in the world with the same strategy and tactics. It was with infinite loyalty to the revolutionary cause and a strong sense of responsibility for the destiny of the masses that he could make a history of breaking through hardships of revolution in an indomitable spirit. In his whole life he always considered that there would be no party and leader without the people and the homeland and if the leader was daunted by trials, the people would be in distress and if the leader sidestepped trials, the revolution and construction would fall back far. With a matchless iron will and grit, the President triumphantly led our revolution, overcoming trials and difficulties. The will and grit were an iron will of not bowing to any adversity, an offensive spirit of braving difficulties with the belief that there is always a way out and an indomitable spirit of not bending one's knees though one may die. He could overcome the trials and difficulties because he guided the revolution, believing in the masses and mixing himself with them. If one believes in the people and relies on them at all times, one shall always emerge victorious= if forsaken by them, one will always fail -- this is the creed and motto he maintained always leading the revolution.

Journeys for people

Pyongyang, June 27 (KCNA) -- The forthcoming July 8 marks the third anniversary of the death of President Kim Il Sung. On this occasion, the Korean people look back with deep emotion upon the days of journeys he made for the people all his life. The life of President Kim Il Sung was a great life of continuous journeys made for the prosperity and development of the country and for happiness of the people. He gave on-site guidance to over 18,000 units on 8,000 odd occasions from the beginning of building a new society to the last moment of his life. The total length of his journeys is 550,000 kilometres. The figure means that he visited 360 units on 160 occasions a year, the route amounting to 11,000 km. While he was on a journey he had to spend his birthday, the day when he should have taken a rest amid the blessings of the entire people, and holidays and Sundays. He spent more than 2,530 Sundays, equal to seven years, on his journeys for the people from 1945 to July 1994. His traces reached every corner of the country-- factories, co-op farms, coal and ore mines, schools, hospitals, restaurants, shops, People's Army units and posts and households. In the course of his journeys there were lanes, a road to the front under the shower of bullets and shells, and muddy roads under rain and snow. But he continued the journey tirelessly, saying he would visit anywhere to meet people and servicemen and he is very happy to go among them. In this way he did not stop even a moment his train for the people, started on the first day when he embarked on the road of revolution. Indeed, President Kim Il Sung is a model of the people's leader who found himself among the people and overcame repeated hardships and difficulties on their strength.
