National fine art exhibition opens

Third anniversary of President Kim Il Sung's death commemorated abroad

Pyongyang, July 3 (KCNA) -- Lecture meetings, film shows, photo exhibitions and "Day of Korea" functions were held in Romania, Tanzania, Togo, Mali, Bangladesh, Zambia and Italy from June 14 to 23 on the occasion of the third anniversary of the death of President Kim Il Sung. Lectures on the subjects "Brilliant life and exploits of his excellency the great President Kim Il Sung" "Smile of the sun" and "Bitterest memorial day of the Korean nation" were given in Tanzania, Togo and Mali. The Curator of the Trieste International Goods Fair of Italy in his speech at the "Day of Korea" function said that President Kim Il Sung was a great leader highly respected not only by the Korean people but also by the world people as he devoted his whole life solely to the prosperity of the country, the happiness of the people and the human cause of independence. Philip Mangula, Secretary General of the Revolutionary Party of Tanzania, had this to say: "Through films and photos, I could vividly see the unanimous ardent desire of the Korean people to hold comrade President Kim Il Sung in high esteem for all ages." Decisive punishment will be inflicted upon Chosun Ilbo

Pyongyang, July 3 (KCNA) -- Spokesmen for the religious organisations in the northern half of Korea made public statements on July 2 denouncing the newspaper Chosun Ilbo of south Korea for heinously slandering the political system of the north. The spokesman for the Central Committee of the Korean Christian Federation warned: "We have not mentioned the anti-national crimes of Chosun Ilbo but will deal a decisive blow at it as it declared a war against us this time." The spokesman for the Central Guidance Committee of the Korean Chondoist Association condemned Chosun Ilbo for viciously hurling mud at the inviolable political system of the Korean people under the manipulation of the puppet "Agency for National Security Planning". The Chondoists in the north and south should turn out as one in the struggle to bring down a sledge hammer upon the heads of hackwriters of Chosun Ilbo, he stressed. The spokesman for the Central Committee of the Korean Buddhist Federation said that it is a patriotic aptitude of the Korean people to mercilessly punish those who are trying to hurt their life. All the Buddhists in the northern half of Korea will drive the Kim Young Sam group, a herd of vices, and their despicable waiting maid, Chosun Ilbo, into the hell, he stated. The spokesman for the Central Committee of the Korean Roman Catholic Association said that the Korean people will deal a decisive and merciless retaliation and punishment to the group of Chosun Ilbo. They must clearly see that the retaliation and punishment will continue till the group cease to exist, he noted. The spokesman said: the provokers are bound to suffer misfortune. The hideous group of Chosun Ilbo must make an immediate apology.

Chairman of ”Hanchongryon”arrested

Pyongyang, July 3 (KCNA) -- The Kim Young Sam fascist clique arrested Kang Wi Won, Chairman of the South Korean Federation of University Student Councils (Hanchongryon), on Wednesday, according to a report. Kang Wi Won with his fellow students attended a meeting at Chonnam National University on the same day. And he was getting away to the suburbs before he was arrested by an investigation team of the puppet South Jolla Provincial police office at a building in Kwangju city. The police arrested two other members of the headquarters of "Hanchongryon" on the spot. This is another flagrant crime of the Kim Young Sam group who are trying to stifle "Hanchongryon". Their acts against the nation, democracy and reunification will add fuel to the anger and resistance of south Korean students and people.

Pyongyang, July 3 (KCNA) -- Papers here today report that Secretary Kim Jong Il's work "Let Us Uphold the Great Leader Forever and Carry His Cause to Completion" (October 16, 1994) was published in booklet. Under the fixed title "The great leader comrade Kim Il Sung will always be with us" Rodong Sinmun and Minju Joson respectively give one whole page to photos of President Kim Il Sung meeting People's Army soldiers and photos showing his revolutionary activities to strengthen the DPRK Government. Rodong Sinmun dedicates a by-lined article to the 30th anniversary of the publication of Secretary Kim Jong Il's famous work "On the Intensification of Ideological Propaganda for a Revolutionary Advance in the Building of the Economy and Strengthening of Our Defences." Carried in the daily is a memorandum published by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the President's immortal exploits for the country's reunification on the 25th anniversary of the publication of the historic July 4 North-South Joint Statement. The press informs the readers of a seminar on national reunification held in Pyongyang and a declaration published by the national alliance for the country's reunification in Pyongyang, Seoul and Tokyo on July 2, to mark the anniversary. Papers give an account of a national art exhibition opened to mark the third death anniversary of President Kim Il Sung. The press introduces achievements made by the Korean people including writers and artistes in their efforts to carry out the behests of the President for the last three years since he passed away. Rodong Sinmun in a commentary supports the just demand of the Confederation of Trade Unions in south Korea for democratic politics and workers' right to existence and democratic rights. Pyongyang, July 3 (KCNA) - "Let Us Uphold the Great Leader Forever and Carry His Cause to Completion," a work of Secretary Kim Jong Il (October 16, 1994), was brought out in booklet by the Workers' Party of Korea Publishing House. The work is a highly important guideline in upholding President Kim Il Sung forever and accomplishing his cause. It says: the President embarked upon the road of the revolution in his early years, devoted his all to the freedom and happiness of the people, pulling through all ordeals and led the revolution to victory, enjoying absolute support and trust of the Korean people and the world revolutionary people, and performed immortal feats in history. He was a great philosopher, a great statesman, a great military strategist and a great master of leadership who glorified the modern history with his outstanding ideas and theories and wise leadership. The work comprehensively indicates the greatness of the President as a great revolutionary, a great man and the kind father of the people. It continues: The heart of the President stopped beating but he is with the people and his history continues along with the prosperity and development of the motherland. The entire people should give full play to the Korean nation-first spirit, keeping the honor and pride as being the Korean nation who have built the most advantageous Korean-style socialism centering around the popular masses under the leadership of the President. The work calls for boundlessly exalting the great ideas, cause and immortal feats of the president with a noble outlook on morality. It goes on: If the revolutionary feats of the President are to be firmly defended and carried forward, the Party should be consolidated and the harmonious whole of the leader, the Party and the masses be strengthened. The work puts forward the tasks for this. It calls for accomplishing the historic cause in all reunification as wished by the President and firmly maintaining independence in all domains of the Party and state activities.

DPRK Foreign Ministry memorandum on great exploits of President Kim Il Sung for reunification

Pyongyang, July 3 (KCNA) -- The Foreign Ministry of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea on July 2 made public a memorandum on the undying exploits performed by President Kim Il Sung for the reunification of the country on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the publication of the historic July 4 North-South Joint Statement declaring the three principles of independence, peaceful reunification and great national unity as a reunification programme of the north and the south of Korea. The memorandum read: On May 3, 1972, President Kim Il Sung received a delegate of the south side who had come to Pyongyang for the inter-Korean high-level talks, when he put forward the three principles of national reunification which are vital to the solution of the reunification issue. The south Korean delegate said that he would adopt the three principles as the biggest pillars for reunification and voiced full support to them. The then ruler of south Korea told the delegate of the north side who had gone to Seoul for the second high-level talks that he approved and fully supported the three principles advanced by President Kim Il Sung. Therefore, on July 4, 1972, a North-South Joint Statement was made public. Its keynote is the three principles of national reunification -- independence, peaceful reunification and great national unity. After advancing the three principles, President Kim Il Sung took practical measures to put them into practice. In the middle of the 1970s, the separatists at home and abroad torpedoed north-south dialogue which was arranged with much difficulty and incited inter-Korean confrontation. Entering the 1980s, their schemes to perpetuate the division of Korea were further intensified. In order to remove obstacles lying in the way of reunification and pave a new road, the president in his report at the 6th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea held in October 1980 advanced the proposal for reunification through confederation which fully embodies the three principles of national reunification. This proposal, based on the principle of one nation, one state, two systems and two governments, is one to build a reunified state in our own way. In the 1980s he formulated the proposal for founding the Democratic Confederal Republic of Koryo and took positive measures to promote the great unity of the nation. On his initiative, a proposal for convening a meeting for the promotion of national reunification with the involvement of representatives of political parties and organisations in the north and the south and overseas Koreans was put forward in August 1981 and a proposal for holding a 100-men joint meeting involving Korean politicians in the north, the south and overseas was advanced in February 1982. Basing himself on valuable experience and achievements gained in the struggle to achieve the unity of the nation, he proclaimed "10-Point Programme of the Great Unity of the Whole Nation for the Reunification of the Country" at the fifth session of the 9th Supreme People's Assembly on April 6, 1993, the programme which he personally formulated. He raised the issue of ensuring peace on the Korean Peninsula as a prerequisite for national reunification, made many proposals for easing the tensions and took realistic measures for the relaxation of tensions. At the third session of the 5th Supreme People's Assembly held on March 25, 1974, he proposed that the DPRK and the United States, signatories to the Korean Armistice Agreement, hold talks to replace the armistice agreement with a peace one. In January 1984, he proposed that the DPRK, the United States and south Korea hold tripartite talks at which the DPRK and the U.S. sign a Peace Agreement in place of the Armistice Agreement and the north and the south adopt a non-aggression declaration. In the 1990s, the President, determined to eliminate the root cause of war on the Korean Peninsula in a few years and step up the process of peaceful reunification, he set forth a highly important proposal for demolishing the concrete wall in the area south of the military demarcation line, realising free travels between the north and the south and holding north-south high-level talks and summit meeting. In mid-June, 1994, in order to open up a decisive phase for national reunification, he made a bold dicision to hold a north-south summit meeting without an equal in the history of national reunification movement and suggested this to the south side. On this initiative, an inter-Korean Vice Premier-level preliminary contact for the summit meeting was held on June 28, 1994. A complete agreement on holding the first north-south summit meeting in Pyongyang from July 25 to 27, 1994 was reached there. However, he unexpectedly passed away to the sorrow of the people at 02:00 on July 8, 1994. On July 7, he signed his name on an important document related to the issue of national reunification. The memorandum stressed that the DPRK Government will as ever invariably uphold and implement the lines and policies formulated by the president in the cause of national reunification.

Month of international solidarity with Koreans opens

Pyongyang, July 3 (KCNA) -- Opening ceremonies of the month of international solidarity with the Korean people were held in Pakistan and Madagascar on June 20 and 24. At the meetings, the speakers said that on the occasion of the June 25-July 27 month of international solidarity with the Korean people, the world progressives extend full support and solidarity to the Korean people in their struggle to put an end to the U.S. occupation of south Korea and achieve the peaceful reunification of their country. The three principles of national reunification, the proposal for founding the Democratic Confederal Republic of Koryo and the 10-Point Programme of the Great Unity of the Whole Nation for the Reunification of the Country, which were put forward by President Kim Il Sung, are the most fair and realistic programmes for the peaceful reunification of Korea, they noted. They stressed that they, together with the world progressives, would conduct extensive solidarity movement supporting the struggle of the Korean people to make the U.S. troops withdrawn from south Korea, establish a new peace mechanism on the Korean Peninsula and achieve the reunification of the country through confederacy. Solidarity messages to Secretary Kim Jong Il were adopted at the meetings.

Rodong Sinmun supports fighting will of "KCTU "

Pyongyang, July 3 (KCNA) -- The "Korean Confederation of Trade Unions" (KCTU) in south Korea at a rally held some time ago raised a four-point demand including the opening to the public of the "Presidential Election" fund of Kim Young Sam, the enactment of a law on preventing corruption and irregularities and other social reforms and opposition to wage freezing and declared that they will wage an allout struggle including general strike from July 9 in case the authorities do not accept their demand. Rodong Sinmun today estimates the declaration as timely and supports their just demand. The daily says in a commentary: This reflects the miserable reality of south Korea where all sorts of treacheries, corruption and irregularities are committed and the workers are groaning in poverty owing to the corrupt politics and anti-social misrule of the Kim Young Sam group. This demand must be met. The traitors do nothing good for the popular masses. The people can gain democratic freedom and the right to existence only with united and persistent struggle. The south Korean workers will wage a vigorous struggle in firm unity under the banner of justice as they resolved and thus overthrow Kim Young Sam regime, which is doomed to ruin and open a road of independent and creative life.

Undying work to strengthen driving force of Korean revolution

Pyongyang, July 3 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today dedicates a signed article to the 30th anniversary of the publication of Secretary Kim Jong Il's famous work "On the Intensification of Ideological Propaganda for a Revolutionary Advance in the Building of the Economy and Strengthening of Our Defences" (July 3, 1967). Revolutionary paean for great man

Pyongyang, July 3 (KCNA) -- The "Song of General Kim Il Sung" has been more popular in Korea and other countries since he passed away. The paean sings of the greatness of President Kim Il Sung, who was acclaimed by the Korean people for the first time in their history spanning thousands of years. The song was composed in July 1946 reflecting all the Korean people's praise of and trust in the President, who liberated the country. Though nearly half a century has passed since then, it has still been loved by the Korean people as well as world people who were charmed by him. Secretary Kim Jung Rin meets Egyptian guests

National symposium marks President Kim Il Sung's anniversary

Pyongyang, July 3 (KCNA) -- A national symposium was held at the People's Palace of Culture today to mark the third death anniversary of President Kim Il Sung. Ri Jong Ok, politburo member of the Workers' Party of Korea Central Committee and Vice-President of the DPRK, was among the senior officials present at the symposium. The speakers said the Korean people have spent the three years mourning the death of the President, keenly feeling what great leader and kind father he was and what great favors he did them and showing the world that they were inseparable from him. The Korean people are determined to venerate the President generation after generation, with the noblest morality, the speakers said. They noted that the Korean people are distinctly faithful to their leader and to his successor, as they absolutely trust and worship the President on the basis of their adoration for his peerless greatness and as their trust is consolidated by Secretary Kim Jong Il, the supreme incarnation of loyalty and filial duty. The President is immortal as the great sun of Juche, thanks to the general's noble loyalty and filial piety, the speakers said.
