Memorial committees formed abroad on third anniversary of President Kim Il Sung's death
Pyongyang, July 5 (KCNA) -- Dominican, Nicaraguan and Panamanian Memorial Committees were formed on the occasion of the 3rd anniversary of the death of President Kim Il Sung.
The committees set a memorial period and decided to hold commemorative functions in this period.
Party on Korea visit of President of Int'l fund
Pyongyang, July 5 (KCNA) -- Fawzi H. Al-Sultan, President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development, gave a party on July 4 upon the conclusion of his Korea visit.
Invited there were Vice-Premier Kong Jin Thae and officials concerned and foreign diplomatic envoys to Korea.
Present were the entourage of the President of the fund and Christian Lemaire, Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme here.

Kim Young Sam group denounced for anti-north confrontation racket
Pyongyang, July 5 (KCNA) -- The spokesman for the Central Committee of the National Democratic Front of South Korea (NDFSK) released a statement on July 4 accusing the Kim Young Sam group of driving the inter-Korean relations to the worst phase with a provocative article of Chosun Ilbo as an occasion, according to the Seoul-based radio voice of national salvation.

Chosun Ilbo committed an overall provocative act against the north by viciously slandering its dignified system under the manipulation of "Chongwadae" and the "Agency for National Security Planning" (ANSP). This is a prelude to the "civilian"-veiled war maniacs' start of war against the north.
Kim Young Sam, hellbent on the racket of confrontation with the north through the "ANSP", made provocative statements against the north even on the international arena. Not content with this, he is trying to use defector Hwang Jang Yop, a dastardly betrayer and lunatic, as a trumpeter in confrontation with the north.
It is clear that if the provocative act of Chosun Ilbo is followed by anti-north propaganda of Hwang Jang Yop, war will certainly break out between the north and the south which stand opposed to each other with arms.
If a war breaks out on this land, Kim Young Sam and the "ANSP" will be made to take responsibility for provoking the north and unleashing the war.
The patriotic-minded people from all social standings should more daringly turn out in a nationwide struggle to eliminate the Kim Young Sam dictatorship and the "ANSP" which seek to extricate themselves from the abyss of ruin by unleashing war against the north.
Pomminryon's declaration of reunification favoured
Pyongyang, July 5 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun in a signed article today supports a declaration of national reunification published by the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification (Pomminryon) on July 2 on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the publication of the July 4 North-South Joint Statement.

Pomminryon's publication of the declaration of national reunification demonstrated again the will of all the fellow countrymen to reunify the country at an early date by the concerted efforts of patriotic-minded people true to the noble idea laid down in the July 4 North-South Joint Statement= it is an epochal and realistic measure to push ahead with reunification movement on a nation-wide scale.
The reunification of the country should be realised on the basis of the independent viewpoints of the 70 million Korean people as well as their strength and wisdom and in a peaceful way, not by means of war. All the fellow countrymen should unite into one, transcending the difference in ideology, ideal and social system to this end.
That is why in the declaration of national reunification Pomminryon called upon all the Koreans to turn out in a struggle to adhere to the three principles of national reunification as a reunification programme and charter and carry them into practice.

Pyongyang, July 5 (KCNA) -- South Korean people are bitterly condemning Chosun Ilbo for its vicious slander at the north system, according to the Seoul-based radio Voice of National Salvation.
Han Su Nam engaged in labour movement had this to say:
Through hack penmen and agents of the "Agency for National Security Planning", Kim Young Sam is now heaping slanders at the north, which vowed to take a retaliatory measure of justice for the provocative act of Chosun Ilbo.
If these happenings are allowed, it seems to me that the nation will suffer a great disaster.
Our 12 million workers will rise up in the struggle to remove Kim Young Sam, who intends to ignite war by provoking the north with abuses and slanders, and destroy Chosun Ilbo, an "ANSP" branch within press media.
Kim Jae Il, an ex-official in Chunchon, south Korean Kangwon Province, said:
The anti-north campaign of Chosun Ilbo makes me feel shameful, for I have taken in the newspaper so far.
Its imprudent act is a criminal behaviour which cannot be‚¹Pardoned under any circumstances.
The north system is the most advantageous socialist system centred on the people in the world. So, the world People envy it and the people in the north feel a particular pride and honor.
It is natural that the brethren in the north express wrath and resentment at the rash act of Chosun Ilbo.
The Kim Young Sam group are the very ones who instigated Chosun Ilbo to hurl mud at the north.
All the people must rise up to remove Kim Young Sam and the "ANSP", the root cause of war, and burn out Chosun Ilbo.

The incident of Chosun Ilbo is one more anti-north fabrication which was scripted by the authorities and directed by the "ANSP".

Container wharf project of Chongjin Port completed
Pyongyang, July 5 (KCNA) -- The main project of container wharf of Chongjin Port has been completed.
The wharf is several hundred metres long.
It has an annual capacity of dealing with several million tons of goods.
This increases the capacity of freight turnover of Chongjin Port and enables the port to deal with any kind of freight.
The constructors are now hurrying up with the final project.
DPRK books donated to Cambodia
Pyongyang, July 5 (KCNA) -- A ceremony for donating DPRK books was held at the Senior Scientific Institute of Cambodia on June 28.
At the meeting, reminiscences of President Kim Il Sung "With the Century", famous works of the President and Secretary Kim Jong Il and books on the President's leadership exploits were presented to the President of the institute.
The speakers said that they had the honor of being presented with the reminiscences of the DPRK President and other valuable books on the occasion of the 3rd anniversary of his death.
They stressed that they would deeply study the great Juche idea and Korea, a model of socialism, and widely introduce them to the Cambodian people from all walks of life, true to the intention of President Kim Il Sung and King Norodom Sihanouk.
Patriotic youths detained in s. Korea
Pyongyang, July 5 (KCNA) -- The "civilian"-veiled fascist clique of south Korea on July 3 arrested 18 graduates from Jeonbug National University on the strength of the murderous "National Security Law" on charges of their involvement in "enemy-benefiting activities," according to a radio report from Seoul.
They formed an "underground organisation" on the campus in 1995, periodically studied the Juche idea and took part in rallies and demonstrations.
The Kim Young Sam group will never be pardoned for their bloody crackdown upon the patriotic movement of students.
General strike warned in s. Korea
Pyongyang, July 5 (KCNA) -- The "Korean Confederation of Trade Unions" (Minjurochong), an autonomous organisation of south Korean workers, warned that if the business owners refuse to accept just demands of workers including higher wages at collective negotiation, it would go on a general strike from July 9, according to a radio report from Seoul.
It said that the strike will begin at the Seoul subways, the Pusan subways and other public sector companies.
The radio reported that its chairman Kwon Yong Gil called a press conference at an Education Centre of the Seoul Subway Company on July 3 and made public its resolution.
Kwon Yong Gil also declared that if the business owners finally neglect the demands of workers, trade unions at big metal businesses will enter into a general strike on July 16, which will be joined by those of Hyundai group subsidiaries in late July.
Abnormal temperature persists in Korea
Pyongyang, July 5 (KCNA) -- An abnormal weather of high temperature is frequently recorded in Korea these days.
Between June 14 and 19, the temperature rose to 30-35 degrees c. In daytime on the West coast and northern inlands of Korea. Such high temperature was also recorded in all areas of Korea over June 24-28.
In particular, the temperature in Sinuiju on June 28 was 37 degrees c. or 0.1 degree higher than the previous peak recorded on July 30, 1939.
The maximum temperature in Korea was recorded in Chosan, Jagang Province on June 16, 1961, with 41 degrees centigrade.
Such phenomena in the country are ascribable to the continental high pressure staying in vast areas including Korea and northeast China.
It is foreseen that high temperature will persist in future.
New stamps issued in Korea
Pyongyang, July 5 (KCNA) -- The Ministry of Post and Telecommunications of the DPRK issued two sheets, six kinds of stamps and an envelope on the threshold of the third anniversary of the death of President Kim Il Sung.
Printed in the upper part of the stamps are a portrait of the President with a broad smile on his face and letters "The great leader comrade Kim Il Sung will always be with us".
Engraved in the stamps are pictures of the President presiding over important sessions, going round production processes and sharing joy with farmers on cooperative plains visited by a bumper harvest.
Also carried in stamps are pictures of the President waving to the cheering crowds and receiving flowers from a People's Army soldier, the flowers containing deepest respect for him.
The newly-issued stamps vividly reflect the faith and will of the Korean people to accomplish the revolutionary cause of Juche, venerating the president, who devoted his whole life solely to the development of the country, the freedom and happiness of the people and global independence, as the eternal sun of Juche and the father of the nation.
Papers mark independence of Slgeria
Pyongyang, July 5 (KCNA) -- Papers here today observe the 35th anniversary of the Independence of Algeria (July 5, 1962).
The author of an article of Rodong Sinmun says:
Since the independence, the Algerian people have made strenuous efforts to consolidate independence of their country and build a new independent and prosperous Algeria.

New movements for war
Pyongyang, July 5 (KCNA) -- The bellicose U.S. military reportedly decided to raise the military rank of the commander of the U.S. Marine Corps in Okinawa from major general to lieutenant general and exchange the amphibious attack landing ship "Beleau wood" in the U.S. Base in Sasebo, Japan, with the latest-type ship "Essex".
According to the U.S. military rules, the lieut. General gas qualification and right to directly give orders and command operations in a war.
Rodong Sinmun today in a commentary says that the promotion of the commander of the U.S. Marine Corps in Okinawa to lieutenant general is intended to give him the right to command a warfare and use the marine corps as a task force in the forefront in case of "emergency" in the Korean Peninsula.

Pyongyang, July 5 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today carries a political essay headlined "May you enjoy songs of immortality".
The political essay says that the songs dedicated to the third death anniversary of President Kim I1 Sung are immortal revolutionary hymns "Song of General Kim Il Sung" and "Song of General Kim Jong Il."
Recalling the fact that three years ago "Song of General Kim Il Sung" was sung in the sky above 40-kilometre-long route and squares in Pyongyang as the manifestation of the people's desire for the President's immortality, the political essay says that it was the first event in the world, in which the immortality of the leader was declared.

Hobby of President Kim Il Sung
Pyongyang, July 5 (KCNA) -- President Kim Il Sung, answering a question put by a delegation of journalists of the CNN International, the USA, in April, 1994 said that he had no particular hobby of his own but, if any, he was fond of reading, mixing with the people and conversing with them.
The President was fond of reading, accumulating knowledge for the prosperity of the country and the welfare of the people.
The book was a companion of the President.
He always found himself among the people, saying that the book is a silent teacher and the people are a wise and erudite teacher and that they are good at philosophy, economics and literature.
His hobby based on this great outlook on the people and life made him the tender-hearted father of all families as well as the leader of the country.
He embarked upon the road of revolution in his teens, defeated the Japanese imperialists and liberated the country. From the first days of the building of a new society to the last moments of his life he gave on-the-spot guidance to more than 18,000 units on some 8,000 occasions.
The days of his on-the-spot guidance include about 2,530 holidays which amount to 7 years. Even on his birthdays he found himself among workers and farmers to lend his ear to their opinions.

Pyongyang, July 5 (KCNA -- Jang Kum Jin, a professor of Chosun University in Kwangju of south Korea, published an article entitled hLet us remain no longer inhabitants of politically backward landh, it was reported by the Seoul-based radio Voice of National Salvation.

True colors of Chosun Ilbo brought to light
Pyongyang, July 5 (KCNA) -- At a time when the south Korean puppet
hGovernmenth and those related to it clamoured about hfreedom of the pressh over the north's just stand toward the vicious treacheries of the Chosun Ilbo and haskedh the north to stop hthreath, the Chosun Ilbo recently carried again one article after another slandering the northern half of Korea.
What draws attention is that the hKorean General Federation of Liberalsh, an anti-communist ghost organisation under the influence of the hAgency for N1tional Security Planningh, ruling and opposition party members and Pak Hong, a stooge of the hANSPh, are engaged in the anti-DPRK campaign and try to mislead public opinion, talking about the hthreat to not only the Chosun Ilbo but also all the south Koreansh.
This eloquently proves that the Chosun Ilbo's provocative slander of the dignified political system in the northern half of Korea was not an accident but a premeditated crime the Kim Young Sam group, the hANSPh and the Chosun Ilbo committed against the northern half of Korea.
The June 24 heditorialh of the Chosun Ilbo, an open challenge to the political system in the northern half of Korea, is not merely a provocation. It is a matter related to the sovereignty and dignity of the nation, transcending the difference in ideology, social system, religious belief, political view and understanding existing in the north and south of Korea. Moreover, it is related to the existence of the 70 million Koreans.
The political system in the north is based on the most independent and popular system born in the period of the bloody anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle. Over the past 50 odd years after Korea's liberation from the Japanese imperialist colonial rule, the popular masses have regarded the political system as their lifeblood in the struggle to repulse the attack of the allied imperialists and defend the sovereignty and dignity of the nation.
In the arduous and sacred struggle to defend the freedom and independence of the country and the sovereignty of the nation the headquarters of the Korean revolution achieved the great singlehearted unity of the leader, the Party and the masses and turned the whole country into a large harmonious family with its outstanding leadership and benevolent politics never witnessed before.
That is why our people and people's army regard it as the primary duty for their life to defend the headquarters of the revolution with their lives and they are ready to dedicate their lives to the defence of the political system which is their life and soul and a symbol of national dignity.
The human scum of the Chosun Ilbo openly cried for the hoverthrowh of the political system which guarantees the bright future of the nation.
This is an extra-large, thrice-cursed treachery designed to remove the national character from the hearts of the Koreans and to deny the nation itself.
How can our people and army tolerate such a group of traitors?
After perpetrating an unheard-of crime, Chosun Ilbo is now urging us to ensure hfreedom of the pressh and answer theories with theories. But it is against common sense to discuss issues concerning the nation and the political system with the traitors who are crying for the overthrow of our system and fostering confrontation among the fellow countrymen. Chosun Ilbo's editorial is not worth serious consideration because it is full of malicious slanders and abuses against the north.
It is also an insult to the press that Chosun Ilbo staffers use the sacred term
hfreedom of the pressh.
It is the greatest justice and the mission of the press in our divided country to promote national reconciliation and unity and contribute to the country's peace and peaceful reunification and it is the greatest injustice to encourage confrontation and war between the north and the south.
However, the traitors of Chosun Ilbo, on the instructions of the Kim Young Sam regime and the hAgency for National Security Planningh, cried for the overthrow of the north's system, bringing the situation of the Korean Peninsula to the brink of war and revealing their true colors as servants of the hANSPh.
Chosun Ilbo is obviously an adjunct to the hANSPh and its editorial is a product of the desperate behind-the-scene efforts of the Kim Young Sam regime, which is seeking a way out in confrontation between the north and the south, and the hANSPh.
For this despicable purpose, Chosun Ilbo, under the manipulation of the hANSPh, carried some sentences from the north's commentaries, statements, etc. By deleting the expressions exposing the daily's disgusting records, its collusion with the hANSPh and its treacherous nature. At the same time, the hANSPh has encouraged Pak Hong and other servants to divert public attention to inter-Korean confrontation.
If anyone calls the traitors of Chosun Ilbo hpressmenh and describe our just retaliation as hinfringement on the freedom of the pressh, it will be an act fostering war and confrontation in the Peninsula.
Eliminating Chosun Ilbo means destroying an hANSPh branch, one of the factors of war outbreak.
Chosun Ilbo must apologize to the nation and make suicide.
If it is not willing to do so, the nation will bury it.
Once Chosun Ilbo is branded as venal press organ, it is favorable to the nation and its reunification to remove the cancer as early as possible.
