3rd anniversary of President kim Il Sung's death commemorated abroad

Pyongyang, July 6 (KCNA) -- Memorial meetings were held in different countries on the occasion of the 3rd anniversary of the death of President Kim Il Sung. A memorial service was held in Paris on June 28 under the cosponsorship of the International Liaison Committee for Reunification and Peace in Korea, the France-Korea Friendship Association and the French Action Committee for Supporting the Independent and Peaceful Reunification of Korea. Memorial meetings were also held in Mongolia, Syria, Iraq, Uganda, Togo, Zambia, Bulgaria, Austria, Sweden, Peru and other countries from June 14 to 30. The participants in the memorial meetings laid floral baskets and flowers before portraits of the President and paid homage to him. They said that the President is immortal in the hearts of the world revolutionary people for his great exploits for the Korean Revolution and the world revolution. It was also stressed that as there is the tested guidance of Secretary Kim Jong Il, the President enjoys immortality and his august name and undying exploits will shine forever with the advance of history. Telegrams and letters to Secretary Kim Jong Il were adopted there.

President Kim Il Sung's portrait hung in Yugoslavia

Pyongyang, July 6 (KCNA) -- A ceremony for hanging a portrait of President Kim Il Sung was held in Yugoslavia on June 27. It was attended by General Secretary of the New Yugoslav Communist Party Branko Kitanovic, members of its leadership, the Chairman of the Union of Communist Youth of Yugoslavia and its leadership members. President Kim Il Sung's portrait was hung up at an office of the union of communist youth.

"Society for Commemorating President Kim Il Sung" formed in s. Korea

Pyongyang, July 6 (KCNA) -- Inhabitants in Uijongbu, Kyonggi Province, formed a "Society for Commemorating President Kim Il Sung" on June 8, according to Seoul-based radio voice of national salvation. At the inaugural meeting, speakers said that President Kim Il Sung had kept the south Korean people in his mind all the time and devoted everything to the reunification of the country. They expressed the belief that Secretary Kim Jong Il will achieve reunification at an early date. Anti-Japanese veteran on President Kim Il Sung's feats

Pyongyang, July 6 (KCNA) -- Chao Xihua, who was a commanding officer of the 4th Corps of the Anti-Japanese Allied Army, published an article on the threshold of the third death anniversary of President Kim Il Sung. The author recalls that the President laid a foundation for Sino-Korean friendship together with veteran Chinese revolutionaries, created a new history of friendship and solidarity between the two peoples and made immortal contributions to the Chinese people's cause of anti-Japanese national salvation. The author says: The President was faithful to international duty and was magnanimous. Thanks to the concern and benevolence of the President, the 4th Corps of the Anti-Japanese Allied Army was able to grow into a force which had a well-organized commanding system and dealt a telling blow to the enemies with its tactful guerrilla warfare in north Manchuria. Floral baskets from Japan laid before Statue of President Kim Il Sung

Overseas Koreans' seminar on reunification

Pyongyang, July 6 (KCNA) -- A seminar of overseas Koreans on reunification was held in Tokyo on July 2 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the July 4 North-South Joint Statement. A "Letter to fellow countrymen at home and abroad" was read out at the seminar. The letter said the publication of the July 4 Joint statement, in which the north and the south of Korea defined the three principles of national reunification--independence, peaceful reunification and great national unity--as reunification programme common to the nation and solemnly promised the entire nation to implement it, was a national event of weighty significance in the history of the Korean nation's movement for reunification. It further said: National reunification should be realized independently in conformity with the demand and interests of our fellow countrymen, its driving force, and by peaceful means, not by use of arms. We hold that an end should be put to outside intervention on the Korean Peninsula and dependence on outsiders, that all agreements obstructive to the reunification be revised or withdrawn and that a new peace-keeping mechanism to replace the defunct armistice agreement be established at an early date. The fundamental guarantee for the independent and peaceful reunification of the country lies in unity of the nation. We earnestly call upon all the fellow countrymen at home and abroad to turn out as one in the nation-wide movement for an early reunification of the country, being well aware of the joint statement's significance and requirement of the present times and proceeding from the national position, irrespective of isms and residential regions.

Foreigners lay floral baskets before Statue of President Kim Il Sung

CPRF condemns anti-"Hanchongryon" offensive

Pyongyang, July 6 (KCNA) -- The Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland (CPRF) issued its secretariat's information No. 740 on Saturday accusing the Kim Young Sam fascist clique of south Korea of escalating the suppression of the South Korean Federation of University Student Councils (Hanchongryon). The information says the fascist clique's arrest of "Hanchongryon" Chairman Kang Wi Won on July 2 is part of the efforts to disorganize "Hanchongryon" by arresting all its leading members and put down the desire for independence, democracy and reunification which is ever growing in south Korea. The information notes: The CPRF secretariat bitterly denounces the south Korean fascist clique for trying to forcibly dissolve "Hanchongryon", branding it as a "pro-north organization benefiting the enemy", and considers their suppression as deliberate provocation for further deteriorating inter-Korean relations and a last-ditch effort of the Kim Young Sam "civilian" regime in a serious crisis. The clique of traitors must clearly know that though they can arrest some leading members of "Hanchongryon" including its chairman, they can neither check nor stamp out the south Korean students' righteous struggle for living in genuine democratic society, in a reunified country without outsiders.

Pyongyang, July 6 (KCNA) -- Crewmen of foreign ships held a symposium on "President Kim Il Sung's noble life and feats" at Chongjin Port on the East Coast of Korea on July 5 on the occasion of the third anniversary of the death of President Kim Il Sung. Present there were the masters and crewmen of the Chinese ship Zhaoyanghai and the Cambodian ship Nueva. The speakers said that President Kim Il Sung is an outstanding thinker and theoretician, a distinguished socialist leader, most experienced elder statesman and a peerlessly great man who exalted the 20th century. He met with heads of state and Government and political Party leaders of many countries in his lifetime and encouraged them in the struggle, they noted. President Kim Il Sung, who devoted his whole life to the freedom and happiness of the people and the cause of global independence, is immortal in the hearts of the world progressive people, the speakers said, adding: the Korean people will certainly win victory in the struggle for the independent and peaceful reunification of the country and the accomplishment of the socialist cause under Secretary Kim Jong Il. Kim Young Sam criticised for man-hunting

Pyongyang, July 6 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today denounces the Kim Young Sam fascist clique for arresting 18 graduates of Jeonbug National University by invoking the "National Security Law" for the mere reason that they inaugurated an "underground organisation", studied the Juche idea and participated in rallies and demonstrations. This is a product of their scheming to throw righteous students behind bars, the news analyst says, and goes on: The puppets are incriminating those who study the Juche idea and participate in rallies, contending that they are an "enemy-benefiting act." This can be committed only by political gangsters who are ignorant of the trend of the times and who have no political viewpoint. The fascist clique leave no stone unturned to stifle the South Korean Federation of University Student Councils, but in vain. The criminal schemings of Kim Young Sam to crack down upon the federation and students cannot be pardoned at all.
