The audience included KPA Vice Marshal Ri Ha Il, KPA generals Hyon Chol Hae and Pak Jae Gyong and other generals of the KPA.
The performers vividly represented the worthy life of sailors who defend the seas of the country reliably.
After seeing the art performance of valiant and courageous sailors, Secretary Kim Jong Il noted with great satisfaction that all the sailors of the submarine had grown to be invincible combatants and acquired high qualities of culture. He expressed high appreciation for their successful art performance.
He said that like the sailors of the submarine all the soldiers of the KPA had been fully prepared in military technique and politico-ideologically and equipped with strong ideology and faith. No force on earth can match the KPA soldiers, who readily go through thick and thin for the sake of the Party and leader, country and people, he added.
Vigorous cultural and art activities among soldiers are instrumental in increasing the combat capabilities of the units, he said, and gave important tasks to intensify art activities at platoons, companies and all other units.
Wall-paper praying for eternal life of President Kim Il Sung appears in s. Korea
Pyongyang, July 19 (KCNA -- Members of the Hyangil Society active in Chunchon city, south Korea, made a wall-paper to commemorate the third death anniversary of President Kim Il Sung, according to the Seoul-based radio voice of national salvation quoting information of the Kangwon Provincial Committee of the National Democratic Front of South Korea (NDFSK).
A photo of the President with a sunny smile was seen in the centre of the upper part of the wall-paper pasted on the notice-board of a university on July 8, and under it were red letters "President Kim Il Sung will live forever".
The panoramic view of the Kumsusan Memorial Palace was drawn and underneath it a group of the university students in south Korea looking up to the President was painted.
Under the titles "We pray for the eternal life of President Kim Il Sung", "Eternal sun all people look up to" and "tender-hearted bosom embracing 70 million fellow countrymen", the wall-paper carried articles praying for his eternal life and praising his immortal revolutionary exploits.
S. Koreans call for dissolution of "ANSP"
Pyongyang, July 19 (KCNA) -- South Korean people criticise the defector Hwang Jang Yop for making anti-DPRK, anti-reunification remarks, the Seoul-based radio Voice of National Salvation reported.
Prof. Ri Jong Sik of Korea University was quoted as saying:
"The defector Hwang Jang Yop at a 'press conference' July 10 made remarks getting on the nerves of the north and calling for inter-Korean confrontation on the script written by the 'Agency for National Security Planning' (ANSP), "in his statement, Hwang said he had been crazy. He is more than crazy.
"That is why as soon as he defected from north Korea, we south Korean people branded him as a trouble-maker who is harmful to inter-Korean relations and reunification and strongly urged the government authorities not to abuse his defection for Government security and inter-Korean confrontation.
"Although the civilian-veiled regime of Kim Young Sam is using Hwang for Government security and confrontation with the north, it can never get rid of the crisis nor can it block the nation's desire for reunification. If the inter-Korean relations are to be improved and reunification to be promoted, such a trouble-maker as Hwang Jang Yop must be removed at an early date and the 'ANSP', the headquarters of conspiracy against the north, must be dissolved."
Ri Kyong Ho, a worker in Inchon city, had this to say:
"Watching Hwang's 'press conference,' I could hardly repress resentment.
"The 'ANSP' manipulated Hwang to say he had defected in the hope of preventing the north from invading the south.
This does not make any sense. What exists on the Korean Peninsula is not threat from the north but the danger of war against the north.
"The Kim Young Sam regime is continuously importing sophisticated military hardware and holding large-scale military maneuvers every day to put into effect the war scenario against the north it has worked out with the United States.
"We workers will never pardon not only Hwang but also Kim Young Sam and the 'ANSP' trying to unleash war after a smear campaign against the north."
Ri Yong Chol, a farmer in Ansong county, Kyonggi Province, after watching Hwang's "press conference" on television, said:
"He slandered the north over food shortage and added he felt pity for the north, which he defected from. If he had been so worried about the people's livelihood, he would not have fled to south Korea, embezzling much public money.
"He ceased to be a human being by betraying the fellow countrymen who were suffering from temporary difficulties caused by repeated floods.
"I am told he had an affair with a girl in an alien country. He is disgusting, indeed.
"We farmers regard Hwang's words as sophism of a dotard.
We have more hatred for Kim Young Sam, who is politically abusing Hwang for Government security. Both Hwang Jang Yop and Kim Young Sam are stray dogs we have to kill with sickles."
A third-year student surnamed son of Kyunghee University under the influence of the Seoul area federation of university student councils said:
"The 'press conference' was very poor, though it was staged on the script and direction of the 'ANSP' after Hwang had been brainwashed at a secret place of the 'ANSP.
"It had been prepared for two months, drawing attention at home and abroad, but it was like the dirge played by a dotard.
"However long he had been prepared, he stammered and answered irrelevantly. He was disgusting to all. "He looked like an old parrot in a cage of the 'ANSP.'
"We students will never pardon the 'ANSP,' which agitates for confrontation with the north on every occasion.
"We have already declared war with the 'ANSP' and will explode it without fail.
"We will continue our struggle until the 'ANSP' has been blasted."

Leaflets lauding President Kim Il Sung scattered in s. Korea
Pyongyang, July 19 (KCNA) -- Leaflets eulogizing President Kim Il Sung in the name of the Paektu Society were scattered on Chonwang peak of Mt. Sokri, on July 8, said the Seoul-based radio Voice of National Salvation quoting information of the north Chungchong provincial committee of the National Democratic Front of South Korea (NDFSK).
Written on the upper part of the front of the leaflets were letters "President Kim Il Sung, sun of Juche, will always be with us" and "Birth April 15, 1912 - eternal life July 8, 1994" against the sunrise on Mt. Paekdu, and embossed under the letters was a panoramic view of the Kumsusan Memorial Palace, where the president is preserved in state, against light blue color.

Japanese authorities urged to act with discretion
Pyongyang, July 19 (KCNA) -- In his recent tour of other countries the chief executive of Japan alleged that Japan should become a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council to play a great part in the settlement of international issues.
It is foolish for the Japanese authorities to win the minds of the world people with clamour for "qualification" and "role", the news analyst of Rodong Sinmun today says, and goes on:
This doing will make it impossible for Japan to become a political power.
If Japan wants to become a political power, it should make a bold decision to atone for the past and speak and act with broad-mindedness and honesty.
Unless Japan promises to atone for the past and not to repeat aggression, no one will recognize Japan as a political power.
A Minju Joson analyst says:
The present behaviour of the Japanese authorities invites only curses and condemnation from the world people.
Japan should not stoop to any impudent and shameless act, motivated by its own wild ambition, but liquidate the crime-woven past to win the trust and sympathy of the international community.
Fascist suppression is not almighty
Pyongyang, July 19 (KCNA) -- The Kim Young Sam regime's harsh suppression of the South Korean Federation of University Student Councils (Hanchongryon) is not almighty but only precipitates its ruin, says Minju Joson today.
The daily says in a commentary:
The Kim Young Sam fascist clique already issued an order to disorganize "Hanchongryon" until the end of July. With the approach of the deadline, they have been escalating the suppression of patriotic-minded students in an effort to stifle the vanguard of the patriotic struggle. In this way, the Kim Young Sam intends to obliterate all the pro-reunification forces, emerge from the serious ruling crisis and remain in power. But it is a foolish daydream.
As the realities show, with nothing can they stifle "Hanchongryon", active for the just cause.
Memorial service for Ryo Un Hyong held in Pyongyang
Pyongyang, July 19 (KCNA) -- A memorial service for Ryo Un Hyong, former chairman of South Korea's National Front For Democracy, was held here on Saturday, 50th anniversary of his death.
It was attended by Vice-President Pak Song Chol, officials of parties, social, working people's and religionist organizations and family members of Ryo.
Yang Hyong Sop, Chairman of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly and Vice-chairman of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland, addressed the memorial service.
He said that Ryo was a champion of democracy who conducted patriotic activities for the country's liberation and independence, undaunted by the Japanese imperialists' suppression, venerating the great leader President Kim Il Sung as the sun of the nation and, after the liberation of the country, devotedly worked for the democratic development and reunification of the country, upholding his Juche-based policy of building the country.
The U.S. imperialists and reactionaries, afraid of his patriotic activities, committed terrorist acts more than ten times until he was assassinated on July 19, 1947, Yang Hyong Sop said, and continued:
"Under the care of Secretary Kim Jong Il, national reunification prize was awarded to Ryo and his daughters and son have been active on important posts of state organs."
Yang Hyong Sop called on all the Korean nation to invigorate the nationwide struggle to achieve the independent and peaceful reunification of the country on the basis of the three mainstays, three charters of national reunification under the wise leadership of Secretary Kim Jong Il, true to President Kim Il Sung's behests.
