Booklet revering President Kim Il Sung distributed in s. Korea

Pyongyang, September 5 (KCNA) -- The members of the sun society in south Korea printed a booklet supporting the resolution on exalting the revolutionary life and undying exploits of President Kim Il Sung for all ages, the Seoul-based radio voice of national salvation quoted the Taegu City Committee of the National Democratic Front of South Korea as saying. The title of the book is "Sun's Day, the Eternal Festival of the Nation". Printed in it is a picture of President Kim Il Sung and the full text of the resolution. Also printed is the picture of Mangyongdae flanked by words "1912-the first year of Juche" and "April 15-Sun's Day" under which there is an article entitled "Let us uphold President Kim Il Sung as the sun of Juche for all ages".

Korea's achievements in education

Pyongyang, September 5 (KCNA) -- Today marks the 20th anniversary of the publication of the Theses on Socialist Education (Day of Education) in Korea. On Sept. 5, 1977, President Kim Il Sung published a work "Theses on Socialist Education". In the theses, he formulated the basic principle of socialist education. This basic principle is to arm the people with the communist revolutionary idea and, on this basis, make them have a wealth of scientific knowledge and a strong physique. Since the publication of the theses on education, the level of the universal 11-year compulsory education has been raised and the contents of education of general basic subjects been improved. And education of basic technique combined with modern production has been intensified, with the result that all the younger generation have grown to be able men who are possessed of a high level of secondary general knowledge and creative ability. Particularly, a regular genius education system from the general education to higher education has been established so that school children can bring their distinguished talents and ability into full bloom. As a result, the qualitative level of education has been further raised. Besides, in keeping with the trend of the development of modern science and technology, the contents of higher education have been improved, the scientific and theoretical level of education been markedly increased, new scientific and technical domains been explored and a great advance has been made in education of ultra-modern science and technology and computer education. The number of universities and colleges has increased 1.9 times and the holders of academic degrees and titles more than 10 times since the education theses was published. In particular, factory colleges, farm colleges, fishery colleges and other study-while-working education institutions have been expanded and developed. Now, Korea has an army of more than 1.8 million intellectuals. Korea is a country of education and learning in which all people study. It has reached such a high phase that it can realise the intellectualisation of the whole society in the near future.

Greetings to Secy. Kim Jong Il from Cambodian King

Pyongyang, September 5 (KCNA) - Secretary Kim Jong Il on August 26 received a message of greetings from Cambodian King Norodom Sihanouk in Beijing on the occasion of the 49th anniversary of the founding of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. The message noted: The Cambodian people are recollecting with the highest respect and reverence his excellency Generalissimo Kim Il Sung, who was the greatest hero whom Korea acclaimed for the first time in the history of several thousand years, the liberator of Korea, the father of the independence of Korea, the founder of the invincible Democratic People's Republic of Korea and a designer of the building of Juche Korea which is the most modernized and developed in all domains of socialist construction and the sacred cause of the independent and peaceful reunification of Korea. Criminal intention to keep tension in Korean Peninsula

Pyongyang, September 5 (KCNA) -- The United States is insisting on the use of anti-personnel landmines in south Korea, saying that if they are removed, more than 20,000 U.S. troops must be additionally deployed in south Korea, according to a radio report from Seoul. The U.S. is making such utterances at an international conference on banning the use of anti-personnel landmines held in Oslo. This fact shows that the U.S. is not interested in peace and peaceful reunification of Korea and is still persisting in its anachronistic policy to keep the present tension of the Korean Peninsula as it is. This makes the world people doubt whether the U.S. would take a realistic stand to establish a new peace-keeping mechanism in the Korean peninsula at such a negotiation as the four-way talks. The U.S. would be well advised to stop aggravating the tension in the Korean Peninsula, going against the trend of the times.

U.S. military occupation of south Korea can never be justified

Pyongyang, September 5 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today carries a commentator's article 52 years since the U.S. military occupation of south Korea. Owing to the U.S. policy of occupying south Korea, the peace in the Korean Peninsula and its peaceful reunification still face a grave obstacle and the way of unified development of the Korean nation is blocked today when the cold war has come to an end, the article says, and notes: The United States and the south Korean authorities are making nonsensical remarks to justify the U.S. military presence in south Korea, doggedly turning their back on the trend of the times and the DPRK's just demand for the withdrawal of the U.S. troops from south Korea. No matter how the situation on the Korean Peninsula may develop in the future, we will not allow the imperialists to realize their aggressive and dominationist ambition by interfering in the reunification question of our country and will strongly demand an end to the occupation of south Korea by the U.S. imperialist aggression forces, the root cause of the national division and fratricidal war. There is no slightest change in such principled stand of ours. The withdrawal of the U.S. troops from south Korea is indeed a main key to detente, cooperation and complete peace on the Korean Peninsula. We make it clear that there can be no peace talks which exclude the question of the U.S. military pullout from south Korea. If the United States approaches the Korean question with the position of strength without renouncing the old concept of the cold-war age or continues laying obstacles in the way of peace and reunification on the Korean Peninsula while avoiding the withdrawal of its troops from south Korea, we will never sit idle. It is our unshakable resolution and revolutionary will to reject the outside forces and achieve the independent and peaceful reunification of the country in our generation with concerted efforts of the whole nation. Improvement of DPRK-Japan relations depends on Japan's stand and attitude

Pyongyang, September 5 (KCNA) -- If Japan continuously dislikes repenting of the past, does not want to rectify its hostile policy toward Korea but impedes the reunification of Korea, we will have no choice but to approach Japan badly. Rodong Sinmun says this in a signed article today. The daily notes: If Japan corrects the wrong attitude and policy toward Korea, we will approach Japan with friendly feelings and then, the abnormal relations between them will be normalized. It is the starting point of the solution to the problem of DPRK-Japan relations for Japan to sincerely repent of and liquidate its past wrongdoing. If Japan does not repent of its past with sincerity, it will be difficult to expect a positive change in the DPRK-Japan relations. Japan's hostile policy toward Korea is the main cause of creating the relations of antagonism between them and making them worse. The successive Japanese reactionary ruling quarters, zealously joining in the Korean strategy of the imperialists, have resorted to the manoeuvres to harm, isolate and stifle the DPRK with antagonism against it. The anti-DPRK moves of the Japanese reactionaries are getting all the more undisguised, assuming a more dangerous color after the end of the cold war. Japan must give up the criminal moves to stifle the DPRK. by origin, Japan is responsible for the division of Korea. If Japan had not invaded and occupied Korea in the past, the question of the division of Korea would not have been raised. Japan must feel responsibility for it and do things favourable to the reunification of Korea. Historically, we are victim and Japan is offender. Japan must renounce the wrong attitude in the relations with us and implement what it should do in sincerity. If Japan truly hopes to normalize the DPRK-Japan relations and is willing to make friends with us, it must show its intention in practice. We will follow the attitude of Japan.

Solidarity movement supporting Korea's reunification called for

Pyongyang, September 5 (KCNA) -- Guy Dupre, Secretary General of the International Liaison Committee for Reunification and Peace in Korea (CILRECO), published a statement supporting "Let Us Carry Out the Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung's Instructions for National Reunification", a famous work of Secretary Kim Jong Il. The cilreco welcomes the unshakable will of Secretary Kim Jong Il to achieve the independent and peaceful reunification of Korea in accordance with the most just reunification line advanced by President Kim Il Sung, the statement said, and continued: The committee was struck with admiration at the clear will for dialogue and reunification of Secretary Kim Jong Il. who declared that he would meet the south Korean authorities any time and have an open-hearted negotiation over the destiny of the nation if they show an affirmative change in practice. Papers on 20th anniversary of Theses on Education and Day of Education

Pyongyang, September 5 (KCNA) -- Papers here today dedicate editorials to the 20th anniversary of the publication of President Kim Il Sung's famous work "Theses on Socialist Education" and the Day of Education. Rodong Sinmun says the theses is a monumental work showing the exploits of the President's outstanding idea and leadership for the education of the rising generations and an immortal library of education of the present times. The paper refers to achievements made in this field for 20 years since the theses was published. As the policy of the Workers' Party of Korea for strengthening the political and ideological education has been carried out, the rising generations have been trained to be true revolutionaries and patriots who are devoting everything to the socialist cause of Juche and prosperity of the country, considering loyalty to the party and the leader as their life and soul. Malagasy organisation decides to use Juche Era

Pyongyang, September 5 (KCNA) -- The annual meeting of the Madagascar-Korea Friendship Association which was held on August 28 decided to commemorate April 15 as Sun's Day every year and use the Juche Era in congratulatory and other messages to Secretary Kim Jong Il from September in order to exalt the brilliant revolutionary life and undying exploits of President Kim Il Sung, the great leader and teacher of the Korean people and the progressive people of the world. This was stressed in the decision which was adopted at the annual meeting to support the resolution "on exalting the revolutionary life and undying exploits of the great leader comrade Kim Il Sung for all ages." It decided to rename the association "Madagascar-Korea Friendship and Solidarity Committee".

Book "History of anti-Japanese war" published in s. Korea

Pyongyang, September 5 (KCNA) -- The Paektu society active in Pusan, south Korea, printed a book "History of anti-Japanese War" dealing with the undying revolutionary exploits of President Kim Il Sung and distributed it to fighting organisations and patriotic people across south Korea, the Seoul-based radio voice of national salvation quoted the Pusan City Committee of the National Democratic Front of South Korea (NDFSK) as saying. It deals with materials about the armed struggle around the 1920s, the start of a new armed struggle by General Kim Il Sung, the Pochonbo Battle and other operations to advance into the homeland, the formation of the association for the restoration of the fatherland, preparations for an all-people uprising, the victory of the anti-Japanese armed struggle and its significance in national history. The book is being widely read by south Korean people from all walks of life with deep reverence for him because it impressively tells about the history of the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle of President Kim Il Sung on the basis of historical evidences.

20th anniversary of Theses on Education marked

Pyongyang, September 5 (KCNA) -- A national meeting took place at the People's Palace of Culture on Friday to mark the 20th anniversary of the publication of "Theses on Socialist Education" (September 5, 1977), a famous work of President Kim Il Sung. Present there were Vice-President Ri Jong Ok, who is politburo member of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, and officials concerned. Choe Thae Bok, alternate politburo member and secretary of the WPK Central Committee, made a report. He said that President Kim Il Sung founded the Juche-based idea of education and put his heart and soul into educational work for the rising generation and the training of native cadres. With the publication of the theses the Korean people and the world progressive humankind could have a great programme for the first time in history for training people into communist human beings and a guideline in developing the popular and revolutionary education genuinely conducive to realizing the independence of the popular masses, the reporter said, and went on: President Kim Il Sung's outstanding idea of education and his cause of the building of Juche-based education are being successfully inherited by Secretary Kim Jong Il. Secretary Kim Jong Il published a historic letter "On Further Developing Educational Work" in July 1984, kindled the torch of the revolution in education, clearly indicated the tasks and ways of carrying out the educational theses and thus, opened up an occasion of epochal turn in the development of our socialist education. Settlement of humanitarian issues between DPRK, Japan must not be impeded

Pyongyang, September 5 (KCNA) -- Anti-DPRK smear campaign is now going on in Japan over "suspected abduction case", mass media of Japan said recently. Synchronising with this, some people call for considering the permanent residence in Japan of Takeshi Terakoshi (Kim Yong Ho), a Japanese residing in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, when he visits Japan. Kim Yong Ho released a statement on September 4 in this regard. He said he was born into a poor peasant-fisherman family in Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan, and that when a fishing boat carrying him and his uncle was wrecked in distress 34 years ago, they were saved by the fishing boats of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and later they acquired the nationality of the DPRK and settled down here. He, at the age of nearly 50, lives in Kusong city, north Phyongan Province, and works at a big factory as a leading official of trade union. This being the fact, some Japanese politicians and pressmen are suspecting that he was kidnapped. Kim Yong Ho bitterly denounced them for trying to tarnish the image of the DPRK, branding his denizenship as "abduction". The DPRK has nothing to do with any "abduction", he said. He is a dignified citizen of the DPRK, he said, and continued: "Those who are spreading false rumors about me are the people who want to obstruct the settlement of humanitarian issues between the DPRK and Japan and, furthermore, block progress in the DPRK-Japan relations. "And they are political charlatants who seek to use me for their own or political purposes. "I call for an immediate stop to such a mean act. "I make it clear that if I have an opportunity to go to Japan, I will go as dignified delegation member of the DPRK."

Floral basket to Secy. Kim Jong Il from Palestinian President

Pyongyang, September 5 (KCNA) - Secretary Kim Jong Il received a floral basket from Yasser Arafat, President of the state of Palestine, on the 49th anniversary of the founding of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. The floral basket was handed to an official concerned by Shaher Mohammed, Palestinian Ambassador to Korea, on September 5. The Ambassador said that the great leader President Kim Il Sung was the founder of the DPRK and builder of powerful socialist Korea. He expressed the belief that the great plan and aim of the respected President Kim Il Sung will certainly be realised under the wise leadership of Secretary Kim Jong Il.
