Diplomatic envoys lay floral baskets before Presidential Statue

Pyongyang, September 9 (KCNA) -- Representatives and officials of foreign embassies in Korea laid floral baskets before the Statue of President Kim Il Sung on Mansu Hill Monday to mark the 49th birthday of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. They were Vietnamese, Libyan, Indonesian, Iranian and Cuban diplomatic envoys and embassy officials. Earlier, on Saturday the Indian Ambassador and his Embassy officials laid a basket of flowers before the Statue to pay homage to President Kim Il Sung.


Film show given to mark Tajik National Day

Pyongyang, September 9 (KCNA) -- The Korean Society for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries gave a film show at the Chollima House of Culture on Monday to mark the National Day of the Republic of Tajikistan. Present at the show were vice-chairman of the society Ryang Tal Ju, officials concerned and citizens. The participants saw the eighth part of "KAPF" writers, that is part 41 of the multi-part feature film "the nation and destiny".


Educational aid fund and stipends to Korean children in Japan

Pyongyang, September 9 (KCNA) --Secretary Km Jong Il sent educational aid fund and stipends to Korean children in Japan on the occasion of the 49th birthday of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. The aid fund and stipends this time, which were sent for democratic national education of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan, amount to 120,350,567 yen in Japanese currency. As a result, President Kim Il Sung and Secretary Kim Jong Il have so far sent in 138 instalments the educational aid fund and stipends totally amounting to 43,289,883,000 yen.


NDFSK Central Committee's congratulatory letter to Secy.Kim Jong Il

Pyongyang, September 9 (KCNA) - Secretary Kim Jong Il received a congratulatory letter from the Central Committee of the National Democratic Front of South Korea (NDFSK) on September 9, Juche 86 (1997), the 49th birthday of the DPRK. The letter says the foundation of the DPRK was the great birth of a genuine independent and sovereign state, the people-centred country, which brought an epochal change in shaping the destiny of the Korean nation who once suffered an eclipse on the world map. It was also a capital event that ushered in a new era of building the state based on the idea of "the people are my god" for the first time in history, it notes. The fatherly leader President Kim Il Sung's cause of building the Juche-based state is creditably being carried forward by the respected General Kim Jong Il, the letter says, and goes on: "The DPRK advancing victoriously under your tested leadership has firmly maintained the socialist principles and anti-imperialist stand in radically-changing whirles of history and successfully applied the ideas of independence, peace and friendship, thus greatly contributing to the accomplishment of socialism, the human cause of independence. "Indeed, you are the destiny of Juche Korea and the symbol of all victories and glory and yours is the bosom of the genuine motherland for the 70 million nation. "With the unshakable faith that led by you, we surely win, we will concentrate all efforts on building up the NDFSK and revolutionary movement ranks into invincible ranks unshaken in any change of situation, and will see to it that the public of south Korea revere you as the saviour of the nation."


Letter to Secy. Kim Jong Il from Chongryon Central Standing Committe

Pyongyang, September 9 (KCNA) - Secretary Kim Jong Il received a letter from the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) on September 9, Juche 86 (1997), the 49th birthday of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. The letter says that President Kim Il Sung achieved the historic cause of national liberation and paved a unique path to the people's cause of independence to found the DPRK, the genuine fatherland of the Korean people, for the first time of national history. Today the DPRK is demonstrating its dignity as Kim Il Sung's Korea, which will be everlasting with his revolutionary life and enduring feats, and as a powerful socialist state based on eternal foundations for the accomplishment of Juche cause, the letter notes, and says it is because it has the respected General Kim Jong Il, a peerlessly great man, as the great leader. The letter further says: "You represent the destiny of the fatherland, the victory of the Juche cause and the movement of Koreans in Japan and the future of Korean residents in Japan. "The socialist homeland is the cradle of happiness and the beacon of hope for Korean residents in Japan. "We will regard the DPRK founded by the Generalissimo and led by you as the most valuable motherland and will always share the destiny with the socialist homeland in any circumstances. "We will always be with the people in the homeland who are making the final charge in 'arduous march' for national prosperity in all domains in response to your call, and thus greatly contribute to firmly defending the socialist homeland and to prosperity and development of our country, our homeland."


Bright is future of DPRK

Pyongyang, September 9 (KCNA) -- Papers here today dedicate editorials to the 49th founding anniversary of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. Rodong Sinmun in an editorial says the foundation of the DPRK on September 9, Juche 37 (1948), was a historic event of weighty importance in the development and prosperity of the country and motherland as well as in the life of the Korean people. After its founding the DPRK covered the road of hard-fought struggle and proud victory, the editorial says, and goes on: The history of the DPRK is associated with the energetic guidance of the respected Secretary Kim Jong Il who has embodied President Kim Il Sung's idea of building a Juche-based power. Thanks to the absolute authority and outstanding leadership of the General, the ever-victorious iron-willed brilliant commander, the DPRK has turned into an invincible country which is able to defeat any enemy at one stroke and the Korean people have become a heroic people who emerge ever-victorious in the confrontation with the imperialists. Led by him, our country will be prosperous forever and led by him, the Korean people will have a bright future. The General is the destiny and future of the DPRK. The Government of the DPRK is a weapon for realisation of his idea and guidance. The supreme mission of the people's power is to build in this land a communist society where independence of the people is fully realised through brilliant embodiment of his ideology and politics. The General unfolded a far-reaching plan to make the country powerful in the economy as well as in politics and military affairs and gives wise guidance over the work for its materialisation. The prestige of our motherland is raised higher with each passing day and the future of the DPRK is bright. As they fight for the just cause under the guidance of a great leader, the Korean people will always emerge victorious. Minju Joson in an editorial notes that the harmonious whole of the leader and people based on faith and sense of obligation is the most valuable gain of the Korean revolution and a source of inexhaustible potentials of the DPRK.


Ill-intentioned war racket against DPRK

Pyongyang, September 9 (KCNA) -- Minju Joson today denounces the Kim Young Sam regime for staging a large-scale surprise assault and landing exercise in the area of the south Han River on September 5. In the military manoeuvre which began with fighter planes and helicopters striking an "enemy position" with live bullets and bombs some of the puppet army soldiers who crossed the river in tanks, armoured vehicles, helicopters and boats, secured a bridgehead on the riverbank and the main forces which crossed the river through a floating bridge defeated the "enemy", the news analyst says, and goes on: The military manoeuvres which are staged almost every day following the large-scale ULJI Focus Lens joint war exercises of the south Korean puppets and the United States are aimed at rounding off war preparations against the northern half of Korea. The frantic war preparations of the Kim Young Sam regime are an open challenge to the people desirous of peace and reunification. So, they cannot be allowed at all.


People visit cemeteries and monument

Pyongyang, September 9 (KCNA) -- Senior Party and Government officials, working people, soldiers of the Korean People's Army and youth and students laid wreaths before the Mt. Taesong Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery and the Patriotic Martyrs Cemetery and floral baskets before the monument to victory in the Fatherland Liberation War on Monday to mark the 49th anniversary of the founding of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. Wreaths and a floral basket sent by Secretary Kim Jong Il were laid before the cemeteries and the monument. Vice-presidents Ri Jong Ok, Pak Song Chol and other senior Party and Government officials were present at the ceremonies. Amid the playing of music, wreaths and a floral basket were laid in the joint name of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, the DPRK Central People's Committee and administration council. Wreaths and floral baskets were also laid in the name of the Ministry of People's Armed Forces, public security organs, working people's organizations, ministries of the Administration Council, central state organs, units of the KPA, and Party and power bodies, administrative and economic organs, educational institutions and co-operative farms in Pyongyang. And working people of all strata, soldiers of the KPA and youth and students laid bouquets and flowers.


Homage paid to President Kim Il Sung

Pyongyang, September 9 (KCNA) -- Senior Party and state officials including Ri Jong Ok and Pak Song Chol visited the Kumsusan Memorial Palace today to pay homage to President Kim Il Sung on the 49th anniversary of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. A floral basket was laid before the Statue of the President in the joint name of the Workers' Party of Korea Central Committee and Central Military Commission and the DPRK National Defence Commission, Central People's Committee and Administration Council. The senior officials expressed reverence before the Statue and entered the hall where the President lies in state. They then looked round the orders and medals awarded to the President by foreign Party and state leaders and prominent figures as well as a train car used by him for on-site guidance and foreign tour and a motor car used by him in the last period of his lifetime.
