Theses on socialist education praised

Pyongyang, September 14 (KCNA) -- Shasi Bushan, Director of the Socialist Pedagogy Institute of India, had an interview with a KCNA correspondent in New Delhi on September 3 to mark the 20th publication anniversary of President Kim Il Sung's work "Theses on Socialist Education". He said Korea's theses on education is a crystal of extraordinary thinking, creative pursuit and tireless efforts of President Kim Il Sung, a great educationist who built Korea into a country of education, the envy of the world and showed the true path of popular education to the progressive humankind, he said. The publication of the theses which gave clear answers to all the questions arising in the development of socialist education, he said, was a great event that provided the progressives of the world with socialist education programme. He stressed that socialist Korea has become the first country of intellectuals where the programme of intellectualizing the whole society is successfully being pushed ahead. He said: Kim Jong Il, the supreme leader of Korea, is a great educationist and teacher produced by the present times. He has developed and enriched President Kim Il Sung's outstanding idea on socialist education to place the education of the country onto a high level in conformity with the requirement of the developing realities.


Anti-Hanchongryon moves under fire

Pyongyang, September 14 (KCNA) -- The south Korean puppets are intensifying the dangerous and frantic moves against Hanchongryon (South Korean Federation of University Student Councils). In this connection, chairmen of Student Committees of Kim Hyong Jik University of Education, Cha Kwang Su Sinuiju University of Education No.1, Koryo Songgyungwan and Wonsan University of Agriculture in the DPRK published statements on Saturday. The statements denounced the Kim Young Sam group for arresting and punishing innocent patriotic students at random after deciding to clinch "legal action" against students who have refused withdrawal from Hanchongryon, by the end of October. They said the students in the north, as colleagues and felllow countrymen, can never remain indifferent to such merciless repression of students of Chosun Univeristy and other schools affiliated with Hanchongryon. They will not allow Kim Young Sam, whose days are numbered by history for his heinous crimes during his term of office, to obliterate Hanchongryon, an organization of one million students which has honored its name through struggle for reunification and patriotism, in a bid to save his dirty life, they warned. The statements called upon students and people in the south to turn out in the struggle to defend Hanchongryon from the traitor's reckless suppression. They also extended compatriotic support and encouragement to one million fellow students of the south in the righteous struggle for final victory, stressing the patriotic cause of Hanchongryon for independence, democracy and reunification is just.


Banquet for FAO Director-General

Pyongyang, September 14 (KCNA) -- The Government of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea gave a banquet for the Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and his party on a visit to Korea at the Mansudae Assembly Hall on Saturday. Invited to the banquet were Jaques Diouf, Director-General of the FAO, and his party, Christian Lemaire, representative of the United Nations Development Programme, Birgitta Karlgren, representative of the World Food Programme, Omawale Omawale, special representative of the United Nations Children's Fund in Korea. Vice-premier Kong Jin Thae, Vice-minister of Foreign Affairs Choe Su Hon, who is also Chairman of the Korean Committee of the FAO, and other officials concerned were present. Speeches were exchanged at the banquet.
