Kim Jong Il's election as WPK General Secretary hailed
Pyongyang, October 17 (KCNA) -- City and provincial committees of the National Democratic Front of South Korea (NDFSK) held meetings to congratulate Kim Jong Il on his elcetion as General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, according to Radio Voice of National Salvation from Seoul.
Meetings were held by the Seoul city, south Jolla and Kangwon provincial committees of the NDFSK on Oct. 10 and by the Inchon City Committee on Oct. 11.
A special communique of the WPK Central Committee and Central Military Commission on Kim Jong Il's election as General Secretary was read out at the meetings and speeches were made.
Speakers said that the respected General Kim Jong Il has advanced the Juche-oriented policy and way of reunification in the van of the struggle for national reunification and wisely led the struggle for its realisation so that the anti-peace and anti-reunification moves of separatists at home and abroad might be checked and frustrated and the national reunification movement has turned into a nation-wide movement.
They praised General Kim Jong Il as the outstanding leader and the greatest man the Korean nation and humankind met. They expressed the belief that holding him at the head of the Party, the leadership ability of the WPK will be incomparably strengthened, socialism of Juche in the north will shine more brightly, national reunification be remarkedly accelerated and our country be prosperous as a strong power which the world people envy.
Letters to General Secretary Kim Jong Il were adopted at the meetings.
Meeting for study of Juche idea in Japan
Pyongyang, October 17 (KCNA) -- A meeting for the study of the Juche idea was held in Tokyo on Oct. 12 under the sponsorship of the National Liaison Council of Japan societies for the study of Kim Jong Il's works, in celebration of Kim Jong Il's election as General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea.
Professor Takao Kamakura of Saitama University, Chairman of the council, and Secretary General Kenichi Ogami of the International Institute of the Juche Idea made reports.
They noted that General Secretary referred to the importance and significance of the issue of preserving the Juche character and national character at present in his famous work "On Preserving the Juche Character and National Character of the Revolution and Construction" and called for adopting a peace agreement between the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and the United States and establishing friendly and normal relations between the DPRK and Japan in another famous work "Let Us Carry Out the Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung's Instructions for National Reunification".
General Secretary Kim Jong Il has made principled efforts to preserve the purity of the Juche idea since the 1960s, especially for three years since President Kim Il Sung passed away, they added.
A letter to General Secretary Kim Jong Il was adopted at the mMeeting.
The letter said Kim Jong Il's election as General Secretary of the Party is the most auspicious event in the second half of the 20th century, for which the adherents of the Juche idea as well as progressive peoples struggling for independence of the world have waited.
"We will more deeply study your revolutionary activities and the Juche idea and more vigorously work for the dissemination of the idea and independence of the world", the letter added.
Secretary Choe Thae Bok meets Chinese delegation
Pyongyang, October 17 (KCNA) -- Choe Thae Bok, alternate member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, on Thursday met and had a friendly talk with the visiting delegation of Qiu Shi, politico-theoretical magazine of the central committee of the Communist Party of China led by its editor-in-chief Xing Fensi.
Present there were Ryang Kyong Bok, editor-in-chief of Kunroja, and Wan Yongxiang, Chinese Ambassador to Korea.
The head of the delegation said that during his stay in Korea he heard the news that Kim Jong Il was eleceted as General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and the Chinese people are sharing the joy with the Korean people.
Noting that Kim Jong Il's election as Party General Secretary is a great auspicious event for the WPK and the Korean people, he expressed the hope that all the Korean people will achieve greater success in the future, too, under the leadership of General
Secretary Kim Jong Il.
Friendship between the two countries provided by President Kim Il Sung, Comrade Mao Zedong, and other revolutionaries of the old generation is invincible one which underwent historical trials, he said.
Floral baskets to Gen. Secy. Kim Jong Il from foreign Party and state leaders
Pyongyang, October 17 (KCNA) - General Secretary Kim Jong Il received baskets of flowers from Party and state leaders of different countries upon his election as General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea.
They were Col. Moammer El Gaddafi, leader of the Great September First Revolution of Libya= Boris Petkov, Chairman of the Executive Council of the C.C., the Bulgarian Communist Party (Marxists)= and Yacob Zayadine, General Secretary of the C.C., the Jordanian Communist Party.
The baskets were handed to officials concerned.
3rd Peace Race in Ppyongyang
Pyongyang, October 17 (KCNA) -- The Third Peace Race was organised in Chongchun Street here on Oct. 12 under the cosponsorship of the Korean Committee for Solidarity with the World People and the Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries.
Over 1,000 people from all walks of life participated in this group race, which took place in 5 km-long section under the slogans "for peace, friendship and solidarity" and "for the independent and peaceful reunification of the fatherland".
Pyongyang Textile Machine Factory
Pyongyang, October 17 (KCNA) -- The Pyongyang Textile Machine Factory is increasing the production of textile equipment.
According to managing director Kim Hong Jun, the factory fulfilled the September plan at 125.2 percent and is carrying out the daily plan at 120 percent in October. The gross industrial output value has grown 10.4 times since the commissioning.
The factory is chiefly making textile machines and their parts. It has ten odd workshops and produces more than 80 kinds of basic equipment and tens of thousands of kinds of goods. They are supplied to textile mills across the country.
It occupies an area of more than 81,000 square meters and is located in Songyo district, Pyongyang.
General Secretary Kim Jong Il conducted production practices at the factory for about 20 days from late April, Juche 50 (1961) when he was studying at Kim Il Sung University.
In the period he set a noble example of equipment management, operating lathe no. 26.
In June, Juche 71 (1982) the factory initiated " the model machine movement of loyalty for emulating lathe no. 26" and called upon the working people across the country to turn out in the movement. More than 83,000 workteams, more than 72,000 workshops and more than 49,000 factories have become model units, and over 600 units have won the title of " honour prize for model machine no. 26 factory" for 15 years since the movement.
