Pyongyang, October 25 (KCNA) -- Remains of an American soldier, which had been found during the third joint search for remains of U.S. servicemen in Jonsungri, Unsan county, North Phyongan Province from Oct. 4, was transferred to the U.S. side through Panmunjom on Friday.

Secretary Choe Thae Bok meets Chinese delegation

Pyongyang, October 25 (KCNA) -- Choe Thae Bok, alternate politburo member and Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea Central Committee, met and conversed with a delegation of China's Beijing Daily led by President Man Yunlai at the Mansudae Assembly Hall Friday. Dangerous military tie-up

Pyongyang, October 25 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today runs a commentary disclosing the real intention of the United States and Japan which are scheming to stage various joint military exercises in November under the new "Japan-U.S.defense cooperation guidelines". The news analyst says: Through the "guidelines", the U.S. seeks to tighten the subordinate military tie-up with Japan, legitimatize Japan's military support to it and get the "self-defense forces" involved in its aggressive war. And with the new "guidelines" Japan is trying to secure legitimate conditions for joint military action with the United States outside its territory and rushing headlong toward the road of military overseas aggression. The U.S.-Japan joint military drills are aimed at perfecting the system of joint operation to stage joint operations in any place of Asia anytime. Their spearhead is directed to the Korean Peninsula. It is because the U.S. and Japanese reactionaries have given priority to controlling the DPRK to carry out their military strategy toward Asia. The planned U.S.-Japan joint military exercises are a premeditated step for bringing into practice the joint operation scheme, which is intended to make a preemptive attack on the DPRK. They are seeking military aggression on the DPRK and the rest of Asia with the new "guidelines", which will aggravate the tense situation in this region and pose a grave threat to peace and security. The United States and Japan are by no means "defenders of regional security", the commentary stresses.

General Secretary Kim Jong Il awarded order of organization of socialists in Mediterranean

Pyongyang, October 25 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il was awarded the first class of the order, supreme order, of the organization of socialists in the Mediterranean on his election as General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK). A member of the permanent secretariat of the organization who is executive director made an address for conveying the order in the name of the organization at a meeting in Tarabulus on Oct. 18. He said that the permanent secretariat of the organization was glad to extend the warmest congratulations to General Kim Jong Il, who was elected General Secretary of the WPK by the unanimous desire of the Korean people, in the name of the political parties, organizations and forces of all Mediterranean countries affiliated with the organisation. Book praising General Secretary Kim Jong Il published in Yugoslavia

Pyongyang, October 25 (KCNA) -- A book "To Marshal Kim Jong Il" was published in Yugoslavia on October 17 to congratulate General Kim Jong Il on his election as General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea. The book edits articles praising the greatness and leadership feats of General Kim Jong Il which were written by Durica Rabovic, Secretary General of the Yugoslavia-Korea Friendship Association. Extraordinary plenary meeting of C.C., Communist Party of Malta

Pyongyang, October 25 (KCNA) -- An extraordinary plenary meeting of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Malta took place on Oct. 14 to congratulate General Kim Jong Il on his election as General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea. General Secretary of the C.C., the CPM Anthony Vassalo made a report at the meeting. He extended warm congratulations to General Kim Jong Il on his election as supreme leader of the WPK. Representative of UNDP gives party

Pyongyang, October 25 (KCNA) -- Representative of the UNDP to Korea Christian Lemaire gave a party on Friday, Day of the United Nations. Invited to the party were Vice-Minister Choe Su Hon of Foreign Affairs and officials concerned together with foreign diplomats in Pyongyang. Present there were also interim acting representatives of the World Food Program and United Nations Children's Fund to the DPRK. Speeches were made at the party.

KNCP statement

Pyongyang, October 25 (KCNA) -- The Korean National Peace Committee (KNCP) issued a statement Friday condemning the south Korean rulers for more frantically hurrying towards the completion of preparations for a war against the north. The statement says that the Kim Young Sam group worked out a detailed operation plan for a preemptive attack on the northern half of the country and is hell-bent on extensive arms buildup. They announced they would stage "Foal Eagle" joint military exercises with the United States from Oct. 27 to Nov. 8,to perfect the attack operation against the north in all aspects, it notes, and goes on: The facts clearly show that the danger of war on the lips of the south Korean authorities does not come from the north of Korea, but from the south. The Kim Young Sam group, who have been forsaken by the nation for their anti-national, anti-social evil policies, are now in an uncontrollable unrest with "Presidential Elections" approaching, and their scheme for "resumption of office" is becoming impossible. They are seeking a way out of the worst crisis by aggravating the situation and more desperately staging war games against the north to this end.

A celebration meeting of the Arab and friendly political parties and national liberation movement forces was held in Damascus on Oct. 11. Present at the meeting were representatives from 19 political parties and organizations including the Communist Party of Syria (Bagdash), the Communist Party of Syria (Yussef), the Palestinian National Liberation Movement, the Iraqi Communist Party and the Jordanian Communist Party. Rally and demonstration in south Korea

Pyongyang, October 25 (KCNA) -- More than 8,000 members of the "Korean Confederation of Trade Unions" held a rally at the Jongmyo Park in Seoul on October 24 in protest against the puppet authorities' disposal of the Kia business group which is now in the crisis of bankruptcy, according to a radio report from Seoul. They accused the government of neglecting the bankruptcy of the Kia business group and driving the economy into confusion before handing over the Kia Motor Co., Ltd. to a specific businessman. They branded the authorities' decision concerning court receivership toward the Kia business group as a plot of political-economic collusion and declared that in case the Authorities do not withdraw it forthwith, they will stage a general strike throughout the country. The unionists of the Kia Motor Co., Ltd. and Daegyong- Hwasong Co., Ltd. in Ansan of Kyonggi Province joined the strike of the unionists of the Kia Motor Co., Ltd. and the Asia Motor Co., Ltd. on Oct. 24. The unionists of the Kia Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. and the Kia Electricity Co., Ltd. in Changwon of South Kyongsang Province held general meetings and decided to enter an all-out strike from Oct. 27.
