Rodong Sinmun supports s. Korean workers' struggle
Pyongyang, October 28 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today comes out with a signed commentary supporting the just struggle of south Korean workers for democracy and vital rights.
On October 22, the 20,000 employees of the Kia Motors Co. in south Korea started a general strike in protest against the puppet regime's decision on "court receivership" of the Kia group. On the 25th, the south Korean confederation of trade unions held a rally at which it declared that if their demands were not met, they would go on a nationwide general strike.
The news analyst of the paper says:
These massive struggles are an eruption of the unanimous asiprations, desire and will of south Korean workers to win the vital rights and democratic freedom and rights with a united effort.
The crisis of the Kia group is an inevitable product of the treacherous policy of the Kim Young Sam group which have made havoc with the economy and impoverished the people's life by enforcing the comprador-capital-first policy, not concerned about the workers' living.
It is only too natural that the strikers, branding the crisis of the Kia Motors Co. As a product of the criminal political-economic confusion between the puppet regime and the comprador capitalists, are strongly calling for the immediate withdrawal of the decision on "court receivership".
Their struggle for vital rights and freedom is an exercise of their inviolable rights.

The confederation also declared that a stronger second-stage general strike will be launched from the 3rd of the next month if the puppet authorities refuse to meet their demand during the first-stage strike.
U.S. and s. Korean puppets start "Foal Eagle" joint war exercises
Pyongyang, October 28 (KCNA) -- The U.S. and the south Korean puppets started the joint war exercises codenamed "Foal Eagle" on October 27, according to a foreign press report from Seoul.
The warmaniacs hurled into the war exercises the puppet three services 650,000 strong, most of the U.S. troops occupying south Korea 37,000 strong, the U.S. aircraft carrier independence and other criminal war equipment.
This is a grave provocation to ignite a new war of aggression on the Korean Peninsula= It fully revealed the bellicose and aggressive colors of the U.S. imperialists and the south Korean puppets as a wrecker of peace and heinous warmaniac.
The Kim Young Sam group in a crisis started the war exercises in the areas along the military demarcation line and across south Korea together with the U.S. imperialists. This is an extremely dangerous military frenzy of the warmaniacs to unleash a war at any cost.
The Korean people will watch this with high vigilance and deal a thousandfold merciless retaliation to them if they ignite a war.
"Foal Eagle" war exercises denounced
Pyongyang, October 28 (KCNA) -- The Central Committee of the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League published a statement on October 27 denouncing the south Korean puppets for starting the large-scale joint war exercises codenamed "Foal Eagle" together with the U.S. troops.
The south Korean ruling quarters are overheated with the manoevures against the north together with outside forces.
This is an anti-national criminal act which can never be justified, the statement says, and goes on:
The reckless war racket is a last-ditch effort of those who are driven into a tight corner with the approach of the puppet Presidential election.
Kim Young Sam is but a living corpse. With any war manoevures against the north he can never bridge over the present catastrophic crisis.
The Kim Young Sam group must give up the reckless arms buildup and war manoeuvres against the north at once and step down promptly, admitting his failure.
The United States must abandon its foolish ambition for stifling the DPRK with strength behind the facade of peace and stop goading the puppets onto a war.
Rodong Sinmun on rumours about DPRK
Pyongyang, October 28 (KCNA) -- Some countries expressed the expectation that some "change" would be made in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. Some others alleged that their relations with the DPRK could not be improved because it refuses to make "concessions".
Commenting on this fact, a news analyst of Rodong Sinmun today says:
These remarks can be made only by those who do not know well about the faith, will and principled stand of the Workers' Party and people of Korea.
It is the invariable faith of the Korean people that Korean socialism will certainly win because there are General Secretary Kim Jong Il, an ever-victorious iron-willed brilliant commander, the Workers' Party of Korea, an experienced and tested Party, the powerful revolutionary armed forces and the might of singlehearted unity.
We will hold higher the red flag of socialism than ever before no matter how others may slander us and which way the wind may blow.
We warn them not to expect any change from us.
The principled stand of our Party and people in foreign relations is consistent.
We have actively developed our relations with those countries which do not infringe upon our sovereignty, dignity and interests.
The same can be said of the relations with the United States and Japan.
A radical change will be made in relations between the DPRK and the United States if the U.S. fulfils its obligations as a direct Party responsible for the Korean question.
If Japan sincerely repents of its crime-woven past, discards its hostile policy toward the DPRK and stops encouraging the division of Korea and obstructing its reunification, we will approach Japan with friendly feelings and the abnormal relations between the two nations will be improved.
We will act in step with the united states and Japan in our relations with them.
WPK proposal for reunification supported abroad
Pyongyang, October 28 (KCNA) -- Party delegates of different countries, who attended the international seminar "Socialism toward the 21st Century" held in Havana, made public a joint statement on October 23 supporting the proposal of the Workers' Party of Korea for reunification.
Among them were delegates of the Mexican Communist Party, the Revolutionary Communist Group of Britain, the Ecuadorian Communist Party, the Dominican Workers' Party and the Workers World Party of the United States.
The statement said the independent and peaceful reunification of Korea should be realised at an early date according to the three major charters of national reunification put forward by President Kim Il Sung in his lifetime.
The south Korean authorities should immediately respond to the proposal for reunification by confederacy formula based on the three principles of national reunification -- independence, peaceful reunification and great national unity which were confirmed through the July 4 North-South Joint Statement and welcomed at the 28th session of the UN General Assembly -- and on one nation, one state, two systems and two governments, the statement said.
It strongly demanded that the United States renounce its policy of hostility toward the DPRK and conclude a peace accord with it in order to ease the tension in the Korean Peninsula and remove the danger of war.
To prevent a war and ensure a lasting peace in the Peninsula is the demand of the Korean nation and, at the same time, the desire of the international community for world peace and security, the statement said, calling upon the countries concerned, which are directly responsible for the Korean issue, to play a positive role in position helpful to Korea's reunification.
Legends about Mt. Kuwol
Pyongyang, October 28 (KCNA) -- Mt. Kuwol is one of five famous mountains in Korea.
It occupies a wide area of south Hwanghae Province.
There are many legends about the mountain which have been handed down from olden times.
According to legends, Tangun, the ancestral father of the Korean nation, spent his childhood on Asa peak 552 metres above sea level.
Tangun trained military arts and practised penmanship on a cliff of Tangun peak and governed the human society.

The Pyolhaktho rock says that a crane, which came to take Tangun to the heavens with her, turned into a rock while waiting for him. This rock stands in Wolji-ri, Anak county.
These legends show how ardently the inhabitants of Mt.Kuwol worshipped Tangun.
There are also legends on the beauty of Mt. Kuwol. The pond of three sisters says that three fairies of the heavens bathed in a pond after coming down to the mountain to enjoy its beautiful scenery.
According to a legend about the Ryongdae well, a dragon took a rest in the well on his way to the heavens.
The rock of four fairies tells a story that four fairies of the heavens used to play on the rock.
Another legend says that great Buddhist priest Sosan of Mt. Myohyang, when he was at the age of 70, visited the walled Mt. Kuwol and easily lifted a big rock which 10 strong young men could not move.
Besides, there are legends about a broad bellflower saying that it helped Pyori, a daughter of the heavens' king, to be married to Rira, a young man of Mt. Kuwol, and about Ok Byol who sacrified herself for the sake of her boyfriend who was participating in a resistance for justice.

In the poem, she praised General Kim Jong Il as a peerless hero produced by the nation and as the dignity of the nation.
