"Foal Eagle" war manoeuvres under fire
Pyongyang, November 4 (KCNA) -- Papers here today describe the "Foal Eagle" joint military exercises which are now being staged frantically by the U.S. military and the Kim Young Sam group in an atmosphere of real war as a gamble with fire no less dangerous than the "Team Spirit".
The situation on the Korean Peninsula is rushing to the brink of war owing to the war manoeuvres staged by the warmaniacs with the mobilisation of an aircraft carrier and huge armed forces of aggression shipped in south Korea from the U.S. mainland and pacific bases and the U.S. troops occupying south Korea and large armed forces of the puppet army nearly 700,000 strong.
The news analyst of Rodong Sinmun says:
"Foal Eagle" is a vast, aggressive, dangerous war exercise in view of scale and content, which surpasses the "Team Spirit" joint military exercises, a nuclear test war against the north.
The puppet warmaniacs are trying to find a way out of the serious ruling crisis in the confrontation and war manoeuvres against the north. They must clearly see that their desperate and adventurous acts will bring nothing but disgraceful ruin and must stop the provocative "Foal Eagle" at once.
The United States must know that its war manoeuvres against the DPRK together with the south Korean puppets will never bring a good result.
If the bellicose elements at home and abroad ignite a war against the north in spite of our repeated warnings, they will have to pay dearly for it.
Minju Joson in a commentary says: it is our will to answer retaliation with retaliation, all-out war with all-out war. We will deal a decisive blow to those who infringe upon our sovereignty and dignity if only a little, and will defend our socialist homeland as firm as a rock.
Korean people's struggle for reunification supported
Pyongyang, November 4 (KCNA) -- A meeting was held at the military complex named "Emilio Barcena Pierr" of cuba on Oct. 29 to mark the month of support to the proposal for founding the Democratic Confederal Republic of Koryo (DCRK).
The General Coordinator of the complex in his speech said that every year the Cuban people set a month of solidarity to support the Korean people's struggle and hold colorful events as a tradition.
The Korean people are a great heroic people who defeated the U.S. which boasted of being the "strongest" in the world, he said, and went on:
"The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) has consistantly made sincere efforts to replace the armistice agreement with a peace agreement since the agreement was signed.
"We hold that Korea should be reunified at an early date by means of founding the DCRK on the three principles --independence, peaceful reunification and great national unity -- put forward by President Kim Il Sung.
"We demand that the U.S. immediately accede to the DPRK's proposal for establishing a new peace mechanism on the Korean Peninsula.
"We fully support the Korean people's just struggle for independent and peaceful reunification of the country."
Provocative war exercise "Shield 97"
Pyongyang, November 4 (KCNA) -- Kim Young Sam's warmongers launched a provocative war exercise "Shield 97" in Seoul area on Monday, according to a radio report from Seoul.
The exercise will continue till Nov. 15 involving 230,000 men of civilians, government officials and military forces under the command of the capital defense headquarters of the puppet army.
The puppets announced that the exercise is to "cope with provocation of the north" and they would stage counter-infiltration operation.
The "Shield" exercise is timed to coincide with the criminal foal eagle joint military game for aggression on the north. This shows well how desperately they are trying to seek a way out of crisis.
Paper on Gen. Secy. Kim Jong Il's military feats
Pyongyang, November 4 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today runs an article titled "General Secretary Kim Jong Il is iron-willed brilliant commander who strengthened the KPA as the pillar of revolution."
The author of the article says:
Today the Korean People's Army (KPA) is famous as the strong pillar of revolution because it has its supreme commander in the person of the General Kim Jong Il, an outstanding military strategist and invincible determined commander.
The course of the growth of the KPA into the strong pillar of revolution is the course of brilliant embodiment of his idea of attaching importance to military affairs.
His idea is that military affairs should be regarded as the most important of state affairs and that the KPA should be strengthened as the lifeline of socialism.
This reflects his noble intention to put forward the army as the hardcore all the time in solving any problem in the socialist cause and lead this cause to constant upswing on the strength of the KPA.
The course of the growth of the KPA is also characterized by his deep trust in the KPA.
His leadership has convinced the Korean people that he is a distinguished leader of revolutionary army-building in our time and an ever-victorious iron-willed brilliant commander.
The KPA is the strongest pillar in defending the headquarters of revolution and promoting socialist construction and a model in filling the whole society with revolutionary sound ideology, morality and culture.
The KPA, which has grown to be the pillar of the Korean revolution under the care of General Kim Jong Il, has great strength.
The KPA is prepared to punish any aggressors mercilessly if they violate an inch of land, a blade of grass and a tree in Korea. It is filled with confidence in victory and determination to annihilate the enemies and reunify the country if they unleash war of aggression.
Thanks to this army, the Juche socialism is firmly defended and dynamically promoted.
Starting-point of comprehensive automation
Pyongyang, November 4 (KCNA) -- The Hwanghae Iron and Steel Complex is the starting-point of comprehensive automation in Korea.
General Kim Jong Il said in January Juche 62 (1973) that the Hwanghae Iron Works (Hwanghae Iron and Steel Complex at present) should be built as a model unit of automation and its experience be generalized across the country to powerfully accelerate the automation in all sectors of the national economy.
Discussing automation measures with technicians, he stressed that the model of automation should be of the highest level. And he said that the automation should begin with the introduction of internal closed-circuit television and a commanding system by wireless telecommunication means so that the workers may understand their advantages. He added that workshops with comparatively simple production streamlines and those with more than two processes and heat
Affected furnaces should be remote-controlled and on its basis, furnaces and open-hearth furnaces be remote-controlled completely and thereby, the metallurgical processes as a whole should be switched over to the allround remote-control system. This was a perfect blueprint for the automation of the complex.
To this end, he sent television transmitters of important places to the complex and made sure that internal closed-circuit television and wireless telecommunication were introduced at one unit after another. And he said that the first achievements of automation should be generalized at all workshops and they be gradually remote-controlled.
When the automation of the complex stopped for a while owing to the high-cost sintering furnace workshop, he told officials that nothing should be spared for the sake of the workers. And he led the automation to be realized on the principle of self-reliance.
The automation of the complex was realized with our strength and technique under his wise leadership.
He saw to it that the experience gained in automating the complex should be generalized throughout the country.
Therefore, a national model lecture was given at the complex and automation was introduced at other industrial establishments.
It is DPRK that decides whether to accede to "four-way talks"
Pyongyang, November 4 (KCNA) -- The spokesman for the Foreign Ministry of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea said that participation in the "four-way talks" is a matter of the DPRK's choice which is not affected by anyone's demand or pressure.
The spokesman made the remark in an interview with KCNA today over some news reports that at recent Sino-American summit talks both sides agreed to urge north Korea to participate in the "four-way talks."
He told KCNA:
Such reports only get on our nerves and are not helpful toward the settlement of issues.
It is our consistent position to preserve a lasting peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula. Proceeding from this position, we judge and take measures by ourselves.
As for the "four-way talks," we will participate in the talks if they are good for a lasting peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula. If not, we will not take part in them.
As a matter of fact, we have done and are doing all we can to put the "four-way talks" into reality as talks helpful toward a lasting peace and stability on this Peninsula.
The talks have not been opened, however, because the U.S. side has not resolved our concern over the agenda of the talks and the footing of the parties to the talks.
In this sense, the rumours now spread by some mass media will only throw a wet blanket over the atmosphere that is getting favorable.
DPRK red cross society on kidnapping of ship Moranbong
Pyongyang, November 4 (KCNA) -- The spokesman for the Central Committee of the Red Cross Society of the DPRK told KCNA today as regards the kidnapping of the DPRK ship Moranbong:
As already reported, in early July the DPRK ship Moranbong was kidnapped by members of the Tamil Eelam Liberation Tigers while in voyage on the waters of Sri Lanka and a crewman was killed.
This is very unhappy and regretful.
But it is fortunate that the case was smoothly settled from the humanitarian point of view, though belatedly.
We express thanks to the parties concerned for giving active help and promoting convenience for the safe release of the crewmen of the ship Moranbong and its free voyage.
The free voyage of peaceful ships along international sea routes should not become a target of armed attack in any case under international law.
All the countries should pay due attention lest such an abnormal case as the kidnapping of the DPRK's ship on the waters of Sri Lanka should recur.
