Suppression of South Korean educationists

Pyongyang, December 3 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun in a signed commentary today denounces the Kim Young Sam group for cracking down on university professors in Kwangju and Seoul who wrote and published textbooks that give knowledge of the North and South of Korea. The daily brands this criminal act as the wanton despotism of the dictators turning their back on democracy. It goes on: It is the elementary principle of educational work to teach justice and truth to distinguish between right and wrong. If this principle is not kept, the rising generation cannot be brought up to be the pillars of the future and they will not distinguish between justice and injustice. This is good both in view of the mission of educationist and in view of national reconciliation and unity. As seen in the puppets' brutal suppression of educationists, the Kim Young Sam group are making desperate efforts to take the initiative in the forthcoming puppet Presidential election. But it is a foolish act.

S. Korean regime berated for suppression of students

Pyongyang, December 3 (KCNA) -- The secretariat of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland released information bulletin no. 754 on Tuesday urging the south Korean puppets to promptly stop the harsh suppression of students' righteous activities. Recently, the puppets arrested three leading members of the Student Council of Seoul National University including its newly-elected chairman, Jong Pyong Do, because they had refused to secede from the south Korean federation of University Student Councils (Hanchongryon). And, with the mobilization of riot police, they cracked down on a rally and demonstration of the university's students demanding their release. The suppression is part of the puppets' efforts for arresting all of those who still remain in Hanchongryon and totally stamping out the students' activities for independence, democracy and reunification, said the bulletin. It reveals Kim Young Sam's sinister intention to pull his regime from the worst ever crisis and ensure his safety in the future, it noted. The bulletin urged the South Korean puppets to immediately release all the students arrested on unreasonable charges, the three leading members of the Student Council of Seoul National University included, and stop the fascist suppression of patriotic-minded students.

R.S. on U.S. strong-arm policy

Pyongyang, December 3 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today carries a signed article blasting the anti-DPRK strong-arm attitude of the U.S. hawks running counter to the flow of dialogues between the DPRK and the United States. Any military threat and pressure will only produce bad results, the author of the article says, and continues: What the U.S. hawks seek in employing military threats and pressure is to obstruct the socialist construction of the Korean people and drive the hostile relations between the DPRK and the united states to the brink of military conflicts and war. This compels us to exert utmost efforts to further increase our self-defensive capabilities. If they think that the DPRK will make any concession or submission under the U.S. military threats and pressure, it is a foolish miscalculation. If the United States persists in military threats and pressure against the DPRK, it will mar the atmosphere of dialogue and hinder the implementation of the DPRK-U.S. agreed framework. It is high time the DPRK and the United States promoted mutual trust and created circumstances favourable to dialogue and the implementation of the DPRK-U.S. agreed framework. The U.S. military threats and pressure against the DPRK are acts betraying the interests and aspirations of the two peoples to remove the hostile relations between the two countries and establish friendly relations, endangering the stability of Asia and obstructing the sound development of international relations. Before it is too late, the United States must rectify its harmful policy of military threats and pressure against the DPRK. Only then, will the public attitude toward the United States change and an affirmative change take place in relations between the DPRK and the United States. Everything depends on how the United States acts.
