Preparatory committee inaugurated in Zambia

Pyongyang, December 6 (KCNA) -- A preparatory committee was inaugurated in Zambia on November 29 to commemorate the sixth anniversary of Kim Jong Il's election as Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army and the 80th birth anniversary of Kim Jong Suk, a great communist revolutionary fighter. Pyongyang, December 6 (KCNA) -- The 6th anniversary of Kim Jong Il's election as Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army and the 80th birth anniversary of Kim Jong Suk, a great communist revolutionary fighter, were commemorated in Uganda and Madagascar. A month of Korean photo exhibition and film show began in Kampala on November 28. The Ugandan Minister of State for the Ministry of Natural Resources in his speech declared the month of Korean photo exhibition and film show. He said: Comrade Kim Jong Suk, a great communist revolutionary fighter, is an outstanding woman revolutionary who embarked upon the road of revolution in her early years and devoted her whole life to the victory of the Korean revolution with her boundless loyalty to President Kim Il Sung. She made sure that the revolution could be carried forward to accomplish the cause of Juche started by President Kim Il Sung. As they are led by Kim Jong Il, the Korean people are dynamically advancing along the road of socialism, true to the instructions of President Kim Il Sung. Korean films were screened at Juche school and Nansan Senior Middle School in Madagascar.

Russian aeroplane exhibition and demonstration flight in Pyongyang

Pyongyang, December 6 (KCNA) -- A Russian aeroplane exhibition and demonstration flight were held here from Dec. 3 to 5. Present were officials of the General Civil Aviation Bureau of the DPRK and members of the " IL-96m" delegation led by Genrikh Novozhilov, general designer of the Ilyushin Aviation Complex of Russia, and the " TU-204-100" delegation led by Alexander Poukhov, chief constructor of the Tupolev Joint-Stock Company of Russia. The participants looked round the interior and exterior of new-type passanger planes " IL-96m" and " TU-204-100" and learned about their structure and powers. And they saw the take-off, flight and landing of the passanger planes.

Soldier-builders of recreation ground commended

Pyongyang, December 6 (KCNA) -- A state commendation ceremony was held for soldiers of the Korean People's Army who participated in the building of the Mt. Kuwol Recreation Ground on dec. 5. Officers and soldiers of the KPA were commended for their heroic feats in harnessing nature with indomitable will and in the revolutionary spirit of armymen and building Mt. Kuwol, a noted mountain on the west coast, into cultural increation ground for the people, true to the behests of President Kim Il Sung and orders of General Kim Jong Il, Supreme Commander. The title of Labour Hero of the DPRK was awarded to Sin Tae Gyun, a general of the KPA, and two others, the " Kim Il Sung Order" to KPA units and an officer, the " Kim Il Sung Youth Honour Prize" to nine soldiers, an honorary title to one soldier and orders and medals to thousands of soldiers. Watches bearing the name of President Kim Il Sung and commendations of General Kim Jong Il were also awarded to soldiers.

Pyongyang, December 6 (KCNA) -- In order to achieve greater victory in today's struggle to glorify a new era of the Juche revolution, it is necessary to carry through the call of the Workers' Party of Korea " Let us live our own way !." In all domains of the revolution and construction. Rodong Sinmun says this in an editorial today. The daily goes on: For the WPK and the Korean people to live their own way at present means to cherish deep in their mind General Kim Jong Il's idea of and faith in independence and carry out the revolution and construction the way he does. The Korean way contains man-centred philosophy and patriotic soul. The Korean people have no better slogan than this. To carry out the call is a steadfast guarantee for decisively smashing the imperialists' moves to isolate and stifle the DPRK and firmly defending our socialism. The Korean-style strategy and way of revolution are a powerful weapon to take the initiative and win victory in the struggle against the enemy. National meeting of active cultural preservation workers held

Pyongyang, December 6 (KCNA) -- A national meeting of active cultural preservation workers took place here on Dec. 4 and 5. The meeting, the first of its kind in Korea, reviewed the proud achievements and experiences in the cultural preservation and discussed the tasks to effect a new turn in preserving national culture in keeping with the requirement of the developing reality and firmly defend and further exalt the undying feats performed by President Kim Il Sung and General Kim Jong Il in reclaiming the national cultural heritage. The Workers' Party of Korea Central Committee in a congratulatory message to the meeting said that the cultural preservation workers sincerely carried out their honourable tasks and registered great achievements in implementing the party's policy of cultural preservation. They found out Tangun cemetery and other remains and relics worthy of national treasure through a nationwide drive for surveying and unearthing national cultural heritage and made a scientific study of historical evidence, greatly contributing to increasing the cultural wealth of the country, systematizing and further glorifying the five-thousand-year history of the nation on a Juche-based way. Korean boxers successful at international tournament

Pyongyang, December 6 (KCNA) -- Korean boxer Pak Chol Jun carried off gold cup, gold medal and diploma in the 57 kg category, Cha Ho Chol silver cup and silver medal in the 51 kg category and Ri Chol bronze medal in the 63.5 kg category at the 97 China Egana Cup A-Class International Boxing Tournament held in Guangzhou, China.

U.S. papers ridicule S. Korean authorities' humiliating attitude on terms of IMF rescue package

Pyongyang, December 6 (KCNA) -- U.S. papers ridiculed the South Korean authorities' humiliating attitude on the terms of rescue package of the International Monetary Fund, The Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation from Seoul quoted its correspondent in Washington as saying. The Washington Post in an editorial said that the current financial assistance was not a present but a loan from the United States. The U.S. government should bring this fact home to South Korea, it noted. The New York Times said that the International Monetary Fund made the South Korean authorities accept all its demand by threats and by entreaties. USA today wrote that South Korean business groups are on the brink of bankruptcy and the future of South Korea is uncertain and the time of serious hardships will follow.
