DPRK finishes second in Asian Women's Football Championships
Pyongyang, December 16 (KCNA) -- The DPRK Women's Football Team took the second place at the 11th Asian Women's Football Championships which was held in Guangzhou, China, from December 5 to 14, according to a report.
The DPRK team outplayed Uzbekistan 8:0 and the Philippines 14:1 in the preliminary and Japan 1:0 in the semi-finals.
The DPRK finished the runner-up in the finals with China.
The DPRK is entitled to participate in the 3rd World Women's Football Championships, which will be held in the United States.
KBS precipitates its doom
Pyongyang, December 16 (KCNA) -- The South Korean Broadcasting System (KBS), on instructions of the "Agency For National Security Planning" (ANSP), recently broadcast a false report that it received a "letter from a citizen of Nampho in the north" supporting the production of an anti-north TV series "until azalea comes into bloom".
Our people are advancing towards the final victory, while triumphantly meeting all manners of challenges, successfully overcoming trials and steadfastly maintaining the banner of socialism. It is foolish to suppose that they may lend an ear to such a smear campaign by the Kim Young Sam regime, "ANSP" and KBS.
The false report is another grave challenge to our people, who are angered over the production of the series.
It came when the ugly colors of "ANSP" and the criminal nature of the anti-north drama have drawn fire in South Korea and abroad.
KBS, which regards a venal broadcasting service under the "government-general" of the Japanese imperialists as its "progenitor", has engaged in treacheries, boasting of being a mouthpiece of fascist dictatorship.
It led the reactionary, conservative median branding the Kwangju pro-democracy resistance of South Korean people as "rebellion of rioters" and the pro-reunification, pro-democracy movement of the South Korean Federation of University Student Councils as "leftist, pro-Communist activities".
It is the blackest one of the KBPS's crimes that it, on the order of "ANSP", centre of plots, started the "social and cultural program" zealously fostering north-south confrontation.
The production of the anti-north drama by KBS only precipitates its doom.
Now all the Koreans including the fellow countrymen in the north are bitterly condemning KBS for the series and are willing to demolish the plot-breeding tool and sternly punish those involved in the production of the series. It is not merely a threat.
If KBS continues producing the anti-north drama, ignoring our warning, it will meet a miserable end.
Tanzanian National Coordinating Committee for Celebrations formed
Pyongyang, December 16 (KCNA) -- A Tanzanian national coordinating committee was formed in Dar es Salaam on December 6 to celebrate the 6th anniversary of the election of Kim Jong Il as Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army and the 80th birth anniversary of the great communist revolutionary fighter Kim Jong Suk.
The first meeting of the committee discussed a plan for colorful functions including a meeting, lecture, film show, seminar, reading session and art performance.
Righteous protest against traitors
Pyongyang, December 16 (KCNA) -- Upwards of 2,000 students and workers held a rally in Seoul a few days ago in protest against an agreement on the terms of rescue package for economy the South Korean rergime recently reached with the International Monetary Fund.
The protest is an eruption of pent-up wrath upon the Kim Young Sam regime which has plunged the South Korean economy into an irretrievable bankruptcy with decadent politics and an expression of unanimous will of the South Korean workers and people of other social strata not to allow the humiliating "agreement", says Rodong Sinmun in a signed commentary today.
The news analyst continues:
When coming into power, Kim Young Sam committed himself to "revive" the dying economy. In the whole period of his term of office, however, he has all along pursued reactionary economic policies, making a mess of the economy and deteriorating the people's livelihood to the extreme.
The Kim Young Sam regime, which is directly responsible for the worst economic crisis, is now trying to flee from the responsibility for it and impose more disaster and sufferings upon the South Korean people, inviting their bitterer condemnation.
As already reported, the recent "agreement" is a subordinate and humiliating one, which makes it possible to leave the South Korean economic sovereignty to the tender mercy of the IMF by law.
In the final analysis, only the South Koreans will fall a victim to the IMF "trusteeship".
There is no room for the South Koreans to move back because they have been deprived of democracy and right to existence.
Only struggle is their way out.
Leading member of Hanchongryon sentenced to imprisonment in S. Korea
Pyongyang, December 16 (KCNA) -- The Seoul District Court on December 12 sentenced Ri Jun Gu, Chairman of the National Reunification Committee of the South Korean Federation of University Student Councils (Hanchongryon), to four years' imprisonment and three years' suspension of qualification on charges of violating the "National Security Law", according to a radio report from Seoul.
It charged that he took the lead in a demonstration of students at the time of the inaugural ceremony of the fifth-term "Hanchongryon".
Symposiums held to commemorate 80th birth anniversary of Kim Jong Suk
Pyongyang, December 16 (KCNA) -- Officials of the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League and the Union of Agricultural Working People of Korea held symposiums in Pyongyang on December 15 to commemorate the 80th birth anniversary of Kim Jong Suk, a great communist revolutionary fighter.
The symposiums pointed out that the whole life of Kim Jong Suk was a brilliant life of a revolutionary soldier and an outstanding woman revolutionary boundlessly loyal to President Kim Il Sung, who devoted her all to the revolutionary cause of Juche started in the forests of Mt. Paektu from the first days when she embarked upon the road of the revolution to the last moment of her life.
It was stressed that she performed exploits for the development of the youth movement, trained farmers into true masters of the revolution and construction and led them to discharge their revolutionary duties.
Implementation of UN resolution on Korea urged
Pyongyang, December 16 (KCNA) -- Austrian organizations issued statements urging implementation of the resolution of the 30th UN General Assembly Session on Korea.
The Group for the Study of Kim Il Sung-Kim Jong Il Juche Idea in Vienna in a statement on Dec. 8 said that the resolution on Korea adopted at the 30th UN General Assembly Session 22 years ago has not yet been implemented.
The statement went on:
The division of Korea, the last product of the Cold War, should be terminated within the 20th century.
The U.S. should immediately dissolve the "UN command" in South Korea and withdraw its troops from South Korea.
We request the U.S. to make all efforts to implement the resolution.
The Austrian Jurists' Union for the Defence of Democracy and Human Rights in South Korea in a statement dated Dec. 9 said:
The "UN command" in South Korea can never be recognized as a UN organisation.
It is no more than a tool of the U.S. to cover its occupation of South Korea.
We appeal to the UN to make all efforts to have the "UN command" in South Korea dissolved at once in accordance with the UN resolution.
S. Korea: crimes of "GNP" exposed
Pyongyang, December 16 (KCNA) -- A private loaner, Kang Tong Ho, called a press conference at Youido Tourist Hotel in Seoul on Dec. 12 and said Rhee Hoi Chang's "Grand National Party" (GNP) was going to collect 50 billion won from a private money market for the soon-to-be-held "Presidential Election", a Seoul-based radio said.
Kang said "GNP" had intended to gather 50 billion won at the Myongdong private money market in Seoul in return for a 55 billion won promissory bill drawn by a construction company with some 50,000 hectares of the Chonan Training Centre as security. He also revealed that "GNP" was to receive the money on Dec. 12 by discounting the bill. He produced proofs by making public a copy of the registered claim to the training centre, a copy of the promissory bill signed by the head of the organizational headquarters and the secretary general of "GNP" and five tapes recording dialogue between the private loaner and a "GNP" official, said the radio.
Book "Mother is always with us" published
Pyongyang, December 16 (KCNA) -- The Workers' Party of Korea Publishing House recently brought out a book "Mother Is always with us" to commemorate the 80th birth anniversary of Kim Jong Suk great communist revolutionary fighter.
The book contains 25 reminiscences on her imperishable revolutionary exploits and noble virtues.
The reminiscences of the book say that she defended President Kim Il Sung at the risk of her life, devotedly worked for the comfort of the President, took part in the training of all branches of arms and led the members of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army, upholding President's strategic plan of developing the KPRA into revolutionary armed forces prepared for modern war during the hard-fought anti-Japanese armed struggle.
Also edited in the book are reminiscences saying that in August Juche 34 (1945) when the country was liberated from the Japanese colonial rule she met with students and young people from all walks of life to indicate a way ahead of them and took warm care of the children of the anti-Japanese revolutionary martyrs, her comrades-in-arms of the anti-Japanese revolution and guards.
Great Ten-Point Programme, eternal banner of the DPRK
Pyongyang, December 16 (KCNA) -- President Kim Il Sung published a famous work "Let Us Embody the Revolutionary Spirit of Independence, Self-Sustenance and Self-Defence More Thoroughly in All Branches of State Activity" on December 16, Juche 56 (1967).
Expounded in the work are all theoretical and practical matters arising in the building and activity of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, a socialist country--maintenance of the principle of independence in political, economic, military and cultural branches, strengthening of the people's government, acceleration of the three revolutions, economic management, officials' style of work, national reunification and external affairs.
Rodong Sinmun in a signed article today says the Ten-Point Programme is a great one which indicates the path of embodying the immortal Juche idea, strengthening and developing the DPRK into a powerful socialist country, independent in politics, self-supporting in the economy and self-reliant in national defence and pushing ahead with the cause of socialism and communism triumphantly.
In the last 30 years after the publication of the Ten-Point Programme the DPRK has laid a solid political, economic and military basis and considerably raised its prestige in the international arena, and the programme serves better as the great programme of state building in the era of independence, the article says, and goes on:
The Korean people's struggle to preserve the Juche character and national character is precisely the undertaking to embody the Ten-Point Programme. The DPRK will never deviate from the road indicated by the Ten-Point Programme.
General Secretary Kim Jong Il is successfully carrying the line of independent state building maintained by the President forward.
His long history of revolutionary activity is just glorious years during which he has adhered to the Ten-Point Programme set forth by the President.
His wise guidance over the work to successfully carry into practice the President's line of state building has been proved by his invariable maintenance of the revolutionary line of independence, self-sustenance and self-reliance in all aspects of the revolution and construction.
It has also been proved by his adhering to the principle of the working class, the principle of socialism, in any adversity and by his leading the people's government to serve the people faithfully.
A bright future is heralded in the way ahead of the DPRK with General Secretary Kim Jong Il being the supreme leader of the Workers' Party of Korea and the revolution.
Many poems and words of songs created
Pyongyang, December 16 (KCNA) -- Many poems and words of songs were recently created by people of all strata and servicemen in Korea on the occasion of the 80th birth anniversary of the great communist revolutionary fighter Kim Jong Suk.
They unanimously say Kim Jong Suk, a heroine of the anti-Japanese war who defended the President Kim Il Sung at the risk of her life, was a distinguished model of loyalty and highly praise her immortal exploits for the revolution.
Among them is a poem "Comrade Kim Jong Suk, heroine of anti-Japanese war" which admires her life as lifeguard of President Kim Il Sung.
There are poems "Mother's Gold Ring" and "Harmonica of Heroine", lyric poem "Looking up to mother's image" and others, which say that her noble traces and relics everywhere in the fatherland are treasures of the revolution.
A lot of words of songs including "Mother's image during her days on Mt. Paektu", "Our mother shining as star", "Mother smiles as ever" and "It snows on Osan Hill" were created. They express the pledge of the Korean people to uphold General Secretary Kim Jong Il with loyalty and filial piety, following her example as the lifeguard.
There are also many poems and words reflecting yearning and respect for Kim Jong Suk.
Newly-discovered rocks around Piru Peak on Mt. Paektu
Pyongyang, December 16 (KCNA) -- Expeditioners who have been active on Mt. Paektu in Korea for 17 years have discovered five good-looking rocks around Piru Peak.
The peak east of the Mt. Paektu crator is a peculiar-shape peak representing the natural beauty of the mountain.
One of the five rocks is the tiger-shape rock, 2,671 metres high, which is standing on the top of the peak, facing Janggun, Haebal and Hyangdo peaks. Associated with the rock is a legend that a tiger climbed Janggun Peak only to be fascinated by the spirit of the mountain, and settled on Piru Peak to defend Janggun, Haebal and Hyangdo peaks.
The whale-shape rock (2,650 metres) is the second highest peak after the tiger-shape rock and the most steep and deep-rooted among the rocks around Piru Peak. It boasts of a legend that a whale from the East Sea became hard there, deeply moved by the beauty of the mountain.
Standing high between the tiger-shape and whale-shape rocks is a camel-shape rock, 2,645 metres high. A legend says a camel, a tropical animal, came to the mountain, prompted by the rumour that if it drinks water of Lake Chon on Mt. Paektu, it can live 1,000 years more, and became hard, admiring the beauty of the mountain.
The fairy-shape rock (2,643 metres), which is the nearest to Janggun Peak among the rocks, also has a legend that a fairy descended aboard a twin rainbow and settled near Janggun Peak.
The last one is a dragon-shape rock, 2,300 metres high.
It is standing between the whale-shape rock and the camel- shape rock. According to a legend, a dragon who had lived on Lake Chon gave up ascending to heaven and became hard, enraptured by the mountain's beauty.
