G. S. Kim Jong Il receives letter from Ri In Mo

Pyongyang, December 25 (KCNA) - General Secretary Kim Jong Il received a congratulatory letter from Ri In Mo, an incarnation of faith and will, on Wednesday, the sixth anniversary of his election as Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army and the 80th birth anniversary of the communist revolutionary fighter mother Kim Jong Suk. Ri In Mo said in the letter that he met mother Kim Jong Suk in Phungsan just after the Pochonbo Battle in July 1937 and in a secret liaison place in Autumn of 1938. At that time she gave him valuable instructions for underground activities and learnt about and directed the activities of the Phungsan area revolutionary committee under the association for the restoration of the fatherland, he noted. He said that upon hearing the news of her death in Sep. 1949, he was overwhelmed with grief. Her revolutionary life was too short, but her achievements are very great, he stressed. Ri said that he would write good articles to widely introduce her distinguished personality and exploits and the greatness of General Kim Jong Il. "Your politics is always successful and it will prove more successful in the future," Ri said, adding: "Your longevity guarantees the prosperity of socialist Korea and invincibility of the Korean Revolutionary Armed Forces."


Letter to G.S. Kim Jong Il from Chongryon CSC

Pyongyang, December 25 (KCNA) - General Secretary Kim Jong Il received a letter from the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean residents in Japan (Chongryon) on Dec. 24 on the occasion of the 80th birth anniversary of the communist revolutionary fighter mother Kim Jong Suk. The letter said that the mother Kim Jong Suk with most steadfast revolutionary outlook on the leader was the best guard, who defended President Kim Il Sung at the risk of her life as a bulwark and shield in the arduous anti-Japanese war and in the complicated situation after the liberation of the country and the loyalist who devoted her all to the good health of the great leader. She was the noblest woman and a brilliant paragon of revolutionaries, who devoted all her wisdom and energies to the country, the people and posterity, and embroidered her life with patriotism, comradeship and love for posterity, the letter said, and went on: She was a great mother of Korea who brought the sun of guidance for the 21st century who would carry forward the Juche revolutionary cause. She will be alive in the mind of the people in the homeland and Korean residents in Japan as a heroine of the anti-Japanese war and woman general of Mt. Paektu, who established the tradition of patriotism and the tradition of defending the leader at the cost of life which would be eternal wealth of the Juche revolutionary cause, and as a peerless great woman who performed undying feats for the country, the nation and revolution. The Chongryon officials and Koreans in Japan will hold the fatherly leader Generalissimo Kim Il Sung in high esteem for all ages as mother Kim Jong Suk wished and accomplish the Juche revolutionary cause and achieve victory in the movement of the Korean residents in Japan under the leadership of General Kim Jong Il.


KPA officers and men vow to remain loyal

Pyongyang, December 25 (KCNA) -- A solemn ceremony of officers and men of the three services of the Korean People's Army was held at the revolutionary martyrs cemetery on Mt. Taesong on December 24 to pay homage to the communist revolutionary fighter mother Kim Jong Suk and pledge loyalty. Lying before her bust was a wreath from Kim Jong Il, General Secretary of the Workers' Party Of Korea, Chairman of the National Defence Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and Supreme Commander of the KPA. Attending the ceremony were Ri Jong Ok, Pak Song Chol and other senior party, state and army officials. Laid before her bust was a wreath in the joint name of the WPK Central Military Commission and the DPRK National Defence Commission and wreaths in the name of the three services of the KPA. KPA Vice Marshal Jo Myong Rok, Director of the General Political Department of the KPA, addressing the ceremony, said: "Mother Kim Jong Suk remained loyal to President Kim Il Sung and performed undying feats in the sacred struggle for the Juche revolution and made it possible for the Korean people to be blessed with illustrious leaders generation after generation. She is immortal in the hearts of the Korean people and the progressives of the world." He called for carrying on the revolution with redoubled efforts under the guidance of General Kim Jong Il. Then followed a military parade of officers and men of the KPA three services.


Floral baskets and wreaths before statues of Kim Jong Suk

Pyongyang, December 25 (KCNA) -- Floral baskets were laid before the statue of the communist revolutionary fighter mother Kim Jong Suk in Hoeryong city, north Hamgyong Province, on December 24 on the occasion of her 80th birth anniversary. A floral basket sent by General Kim Jong Il was laid before her statue. Laid before her statue were floral baskets in the name of North Hamgyong Provincial Party Committee, and party and power bodies and adminstrative and economic organs in the Province. The participants made bows in humble reverence to mother Kim Jong Suk. A floral basket was laid before her statue in Kim Jong Suk County, Ryanggang Province, on Wednesday. Chinese delegations, Korean residents in China and officials of the Consulate General of China in Chongjin visited the statue of mother Kim Jong Suk to lay floral baskets and make bows. Chief of the Pyongyang mission of the National Democratic Front of South Korea (NDFSK) Ri Sang Chol and its members in the name of the NDFSK Central Committee and the military attaches corps here laid wreaths before the bust of mother Kim Jong Suk in the revolutionary martyrs cemetery on Mt. Taesong, Pyongyang. O Ik Je, Vice-Chairman of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland and advisor to the central guidance committee of the Korean Chondoist Association, visited the bust of mother Kim Jong Suk in the revolutionary martyrs cemetery on Mt. Taesong to pay homage to her.


80th birth anniversary of Kim Jong Suk commemorated in Korea

Pyongyang, December 25 (KCNA) -- Colorful events were held in Pyongyang and local areas on December 24 to commemorate the 80th birth anniversary of the communist revolutionary fighter mother Kim Jong Suk. Pak Song Chol, Kim Yong Nam and other senior party and state officials were present at an evening gala of youth and students in Pyongyang held at the central hall of youth. The performers danced and sang famous songs "Azalea" and "My Mother" and other songs on the undying exploits of mother Kim Jong Suk, who made great contributions to the Juche revolutionary cause, and prayed that she would enjoy immortality along with the prospering and developing socialist homeland. Kim Young Sam "inspects" frontline unit

Pyongyang, December 25 (KCNA) -- Kim Young Sam of South Korea "inspected" a army unit on the western sector of the front Tuesday and called for "keeping the military readiness" which apparently means preparation for invasion of the north, according to a radio report from Seoul. Showing up in the area near the Military Demarcation Line, this "civilian" warmaniac clamoured about non-existent "provocation" and "threat" by the north. It shows once again that he far surpasses the preceding military fascists in treachery.


Pak Song Chol meets Australian guests

Pyongyang, December 25 (KCNA) -- DPRK Vice-President Pak Song Chol met with family members of the late Australian journalist Wilfred Burchett at the Mansudae Assembly Hall today. Present at the meeting were Chon Yon Ok, Vice-Chairwoman of the Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries. Vessa Burchett, widow of Wilfred Burchett, said that during their stay they were moved to see enormous achievements made by socialist Korea. Korea has made more amazing progress in the 80s and 90s, she added.
