Intensive checkup and search in South Korea
Pyongyang, January 13 (KCNA) -- The "civilian"-veiled fascist clique set in motion more than 70,000 policemen for intensive checkup and search across south korea on the evening of January 9, according to a radio report from Seoul.
The puppet national police office announced that the emergency disposition drill and checkup and search were conducted as regards the "confused public atmosphere under the system of the International Monetary Fund".
This reveals the sinister design of the clique to intensify suppression to check a new struggle of the people against the economic trusteeship of the IMF.
Animated People's Palace of Culture
Pyongyang, January 13 (KCNA) -- The Wangjaesan Light Music Band of Korea is now giving art performances at the People's Palace of Culture, drawing a large audience.
Put on the stage are instrumental and vocal musical pieces, dances and other colorful numbers.
The performances are giving conviction and courage to the working people who are pushing ahead with the forced march for the final victory.
The construction of the palace was completed in January Juche 63 (1974). Its total floor space is more than 60,000 square metres.
It is a five-storeyed building with crane-shaped roofs of Korean style.
It has a 3,000-seat conference hall, roundtable meeting hall and banquet halls. It also has more than 500 rooms including a press conference room, photographing room, recording room and typewriting room.
Put on outer walls of the building are mosaics "under the benevolent sunrays," "our prosperous socialist country," "honor of steel makers" and "bumper harvest."
Many international and national meetings and functions were held at the People's Palace of Culture. Among them are the seminar of non-aligned and other developing countries on food and agricultural production (August 1981) and the 7th General Assembly of the coordinating committee of the pool of news agencies of the non-aligned countries (may 1982).
Socialism sure to win
Pyongyang, January 13 (KCNA) -- It is plain that the cause of socialism is sure to win after pulling through difficulties no matter how complicated the present international situation is.
Rodong Sinmun today stresses this in a signed article.
No force on earth can keep humankind from advancing along the road of socialism, the article says, and goes on:
In recent years some countries witnessed the revival of capitalism in the wake of the collapse of socialism. That is no more than a temporary, unusual phenomenon in view of the developing human history.
For its great attraction, the Pyongyang Declaration which calls for defending and advancing socialism is rapidly sweeping the whole world. More than 230 political parties have so far signed the declaration since its publication.
Political parties in Asia, Africa and Latin America and even those in West Europe regard the declaration as a joint action program and work hard to increase international solidarity in the struggle for socialism on the basis of the declaration.
Only socialism is the way for the developing countries to do away with the aftereffects of the imperialist colonial rule and achieve the prosperity of the nation in the building of a new society.
Mindful that it is the best way for them to take the road of socialism in the teeth of obstructions of the imperialists, the peoples in those countries are now advocating socialism and fighting for carrying its noble idea into practice.
Removal of Cold War system in Korea urged
Pyongyang, January 13 (KCNA) -- The Korean Peninsula is the only cold war area in the world at present and this Cold War system must be removed at an early date.
Rodong Sinmun today says this in a signed article.
The Cold War system still remains in the Korean Peninsula owing to the United States, which is seeking to keep it and, on this basis, realize its strategy of aggression on korea and the rest of Asia, the paper points out, and says:
One of the main points of the system existing in the Peninsula is U.S. military forces and bases in South Korea.
When the U.S. troops are removed from South Korea, a decisive phase will be opened for relaxation of the military confrontation and for durable peace in the Peninsula.
What is also important in terminating the Cold War system in this area is to dismantle the "U.N. Command" in South Korea.
The "U.N. Command" is, in essence, the U.S. Forces Command. That is why the U.S. is obliged to dismantle it.
The United States must carry out its obligation and the U.N. resolution calling for the dissolution of the "U.N. Command".
The Korean armistice system should be replaced with a peace-keeping system, which is an important way for putting an end to the cold war system in the Peninsula.
Only when this outdated system, which has been reduced to a mere name due to the U.S. irresponsible deed, is replaced by a peace-keeping mechanism, is it possible to remove the state of armistice between the DPRK and the U.S. and prevent recurrence of war.
There are a lot of things for the U.S. to do in removing the present cold war system in the Korean Peninsula.
The U.S. should sincerely do what it has to do.
Then, confidence in it in relations with the DPRK will be built and a prospect will be opened for improvement of the DPRK-U.S. relations and for the settlement of the Korean issue.
