Korean people's cause of reunification supported
Pyongyang, January 15 (KCNA) -- The Asian Regional Committee to Support Korea's Reunification, the All-India Indo-Korean Friendship Association and the Indian Committee for Supporting Korea's Reunification published a joint statement on Jan. 8 in support of the Korean people's cause of national reunification which was clarified in the Joint New Year Editorial of the newspapers Rodong Sinmun and Joson Inmingun (Korean People's Army).
The statement fully supported Korea's stand of principle toward the question of reunification. A radical change should take place in south korea in order to achieve the reunification of korea at an early date, it said.
It stated that the U.S. troops should withdraw from South Korea as early as possible, taking along with them all their nuclear weapons so that the Korean people may achieve the independent and peaceful reunification of the country by means of founding the Democratic Confederal Republic of Koryo on the three principles of national reunification.
Disgraceful demeanor
Pyongyang, January 15 (KCNA) -- Kim Young Sam, when meeting with the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund on January 12, expressed "thanks" to him for "the quick maximum assistance" from IMF, and asked him for his help in extending payment of short-term loans granted by foreign financial institutions, according to a report.
His flattery came at a time when the whole of South Korea is getting angry at "trusteeship" of IMF= it is one more insult and challenge to the South Koreans.
During his five-year-long term of office the traitor drove all the aspects of social life, including politics and the economy, into a total crisis with dependence on outside forces and irregularities and corruption in south korea. He went the length of allowing "the trusteeship" called "IMF system" and selling off the South Korean economy to the outsiders lock, stock and barrel.
While keeping the indiscrimate, humiliating agreement with IMF from the public, he is now crying for its "early implementation", while imposing "pain sharing" upon the workers and other labouring people of South Korea.
In fact, he is trying to shift the responsibility for his crime onto others, which cannot be allowed at all.
Even a recent issue of the Newsweek said there would be "a national assembly hearing" over the responsibility for the present crisis of South Korea.
First revolutionary newspaper of Korea
Pyongyang, January 15 (KCNA) -- Korea marks the 70th anniversary of the newspaper Saenal.
The newspaper was founded by President Kim Il Sung on January 15, Juche 17 (1928).
The then newspaper carried a number of articles calling for holding fast to the Juche-based stand in the revolutionary struggle, increasing the driving force and awakening masses to national character and class.
It greatly helped the youths and people of other social strata to establish revolutionary outlook on the world and encouraged them to the anti-Japanese struggle.
It was very instrumental in the foundation and publication of Bolshevik, Nongu, the monthly Samil, Sogwang, Jongsori and other revolutionary publications.
It is now the mouthpiece of the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League central committee.
It deals with materials for revolutionary and class education among senior middle school students and for wide knowledge.
It is brought out by the Kum Song Youth Publishing House.
It is playing a big role in training the schoolchildren as reliable successors to the Juche revolution.
"KCTU" protests against authorities' suppression
Pyongyang, January 15 (KCNA) -- The "Korean Confederation of Trade Unions" (KCTU) protested against the authorities's arrest of the chairman of the "National Democratic Federation of Metal Trade Unions" and three other leading unionists, according to a South Korean newspaper report.
It is natural, the organisation said, that they supported their nominated candidate at a meeting of workers. The authorities suppression of this is a premeditated move to obliterate the labour movement, it stressed.
It is a terrorist act that the puppet clique sent policemen to a meeting place to mercilessly crack down on those who supported their candidate, it said.
The organisation called for a prompt punishment of the prime movers.
S. Korea to be faced with "national dishonor crisis"
Pyongyang, January 15 (KCNA) -- The Emergency Economic Measure Committee of South Korea said that there is possibility for South Korea to be faced with national dishonor crisis" in the first quarter of this year, according to a radio report from Seoul.
In a report on the "view of foreign investors regarding the economic crisis of South Korea" the committee said that the authorities announced they should return short-term foreign debts of 21.6 billion dollars in the first quarter of this year, but it is estimated at 40 billion dollars.
It stressed that in case the authorities' plan to introduce foreign loans on a large scale to pay foreign debts fails, south korea will be faced with more serious "national financial crisis" than the catastrophic crisis of foreign exchange in mid-December last year.
The authorities totally opened financial market but the funds invested by foreigners are not coming in and South Korea's downgrading credit abroad makes it difficult for the authorities to borrow short-term 35 billion dollars on short terms, it said.
