G.S. Kim Jong Il inspects forward command post
Pyongyang, January 28 (KCNA) - General Secretary Kim Jong Il inspected the forward command post of large combined unit no. 567 of the KPA.
He was accompanied by Jo Myong Rok, Director of the General Political Department of the KPA= KPA Generals Hyon Chol Hae and Pak Jae Gyong and the staff members of the KPA Supreme Command.
The Supreme Commander climbed up to the forward command post and looked at the defence theatre and the southern land, learned in detail about the topographical conditions and deployment of forces and heard about the situation.
He was much satisfied with the fact that the unit has firmly prepared itself as a matchless one capable of defeating any surprise attack of the enemies at a strike.
He said that as reliable soldiers with a pledge to share destiny with the party and cover a long journey of the revolution to the last are firmly defending the forefront,the Juche revolutionary cause and socialist country are invincible.
He put forward tasks that would be very instrumental in further increasing the combat power of the unit and fortifying the defence theatre in face of the provocative moves of the enemies which are getting all the more pronounced with each passing day.
He met the soldiers on duty at the forward command post.
He appreciated their efforts before having a picture taken with them.
He visited a company under the unit.
He saw the company soldiers in a firing-posture training.
He noted with great satisfaction that all the combatants have prepared prepared as matchless fighters who are able to defeat any formidable enemy at a strike, and encouraged them greatly.
He looked round the bedroom, cultural and educational facilities and supply establishments of the company to show warm care for the daily life of the servicemen.
He acquainted himself with the use of publications, television set and wallpaper board, sports and amusement games, the temperature of the bedroom and supply of non-staple food and favourite commodities to the servicemen.
He went on to say that the company servicemen have prepared themselves as matchless combatants and kept the unit tidy to be an example for the whole army, and that the way of fight and life of the heroic KPA, the army of the leader and the party, is a true model of a revolutionary army.
He gave them a pair of binoculars and an automatic rifle as gifts and posed for a souvenir picture with them.
U.S. troops' training to put down anti-American demos
Pyongyang, January 28 (KCNA) -- Some 200 u.s. military policemen in South Korea staged a training to put down anti-American demonstrations at the military base of the U.S. aggression forces in North Kyongsang Province on January 24, according to a radio report from Seoul.
This is the first of its kind that they openly held.
Some 40 Katusa soldiers played a role of demonstrators, shouting "U.S. troops, go home" and the U.S. MPs staged a training to put down demonstrations, wielding clubs against them with shields in hand.
The fact shows that the U.S. aggressors plan to mobilize even their forces in the crackdown upon South Korean people if necessary, upset by the anti-American feelings growing in south korea whose economy is under trusteeship by the international monetary fund wirepulled by the United States.
Full-length novel "Pyongyang declares" published
Pyongyang, January 28 (KCNA) -- The Korean literary and art press group recently brought out a full-length novel "Pyongyang declares", a serial of the cycle of novels "Immortal guidance."
It covers a period from the late 1980s to the early 1990s.
It depicts the noble traits of General Kim Jong Il who further consolidates the Korean-style socialist system under the fast-changing situation and illumines the road of revival to the progressive people aspiring after independence and socialism.
The novel eloquently proves that General Kim Jong Il is an outstanding teacher of the international communist movement and the sun of the progressive people by portraying General Kim Jong Il who sees to it that the historic Pyongyang Declaration was adopted with the 80th birthday of President Kim Il Sung as an occasion and shows deep love for communists of different countries fighting for the rebuilding of socialism.
With a high artistic delineation, it confirms that the socialist cause is, in essence, the cause of the leader and that socialism will certainly win only under the guidance of the leader.
Party on National Day of India
Pyongyang, January 28 (KCNA) -- Jagjit Singh Sapra, Indian Ambassador to the DPRK, gave a party on Jan. 27 to mark the day of the proclamation of the Republic of India.
Invited to the party were Kim Yong Nam, Vice-Premier and Foreign Minister, Ju Song Il, Chairman of the Central Committee of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea and Chairman of the Korea-India Friendship Association, and other officials concerned.
Speeches were exchanged at the party.
KPA, pillar of socialism
Pyongyang, January 28 (KCNA) -- The Korean People's Army is a pillar of Korean socialism.
The KPA officers and men have been firmly imbued with the spirit of human bombs under the slogan "Let us safeguard the headquarters of the revolution headed by General Kim Jong Il with our lives "
Among them are hero Kil Yong Jo who sacrified himself for the safety of the headquarters of the revolution by piloting his plane, not bailing out of the plane when it was out of order and other soldiers who fought singlehandedly behind the enemy lines in defence of the authority of Supreme Commander General Kim Jong Il.
The People's Army is reliably defending Korean socialism.
Last year, the KPA soldiers honorably defended the security of the country from the continued provocation moves by the imperialists and their followers.
The KPA has grown up to be the crack force which is superior to any formidable enemy in political and ideological, strategical and tactical aspects and in military technique.
It is also playing the role of creators of happiness in Korean socialist construction.
The KPA servicemen have distinguished themselves at construction sites under the slogan "Let us take upon ourselves both national defence and socialist construction " the West Sea Barrage, the Pyongyang-Hyangsan Tourist Highway, the Anbyon Youth Power Station, Mts. Jongbang and Kuwol recreation grounds and other monumental edifices of the country are soaked with the precious sweat of soldiers.
They laid the foundation of a new advance in agricultural production by devotedly working together with the people last year.
The KPA is a model of society in all aspects including spiritual and moral traits, fighting spirit, cultural and emotional life.
Achievements in scientific research
Pyongyang, January 28 (KCNA) -- Korean scientists made achievements in scientific research for various domains of the national economy.
Many scientific results have been reported from institutes under the national academy of sciences.
The institute of heat engineering completed the method of operation of a boiler.
The method has proved successful at a number of units in different domains of the national economy, saving 2,000 to 3,000 tons of coal per 10 ton-class boiler.
The institute of geology developed a multi-circuit general electric detector which will be very instrumental in underground photographing.
The recently-developed detector makes it possible to facilitate construction and hydrogeological, coal and nonferrous metal ore prospecting and historical relics discovery with scientific accuracy and to save a huge amount of money, manpower and time.
The academy of medical science established the way of producing reagents used for diagnosis of hepatitis-c. The mushroom institute succeeded in the research into agaric of a new specimen whose yield will be 1.4 times the one now under cultivation.
Its germ is supplied to a large number of units up and down the country.
The scientists of korea are successfully solving urgent scientific and technical problems to make an effective use of the existing economic foundations and boost major sectors of socialist construction.
Talks between Korean and Mongolian foreign ministers
Pyongyang, January 28 (KCNA) -- Vice-Premier and Foreign Minister Kim Yong Nam had a talks with Minister of Foreign Relations of Mongolia Shukhar Altangerel at Mansudae Assembly Hall on Wednesday.
Present at the talks on the DPRK side were officials concerned and on the opposite side were the Minister's entourage and Mongolian Ambassador to Korea D. Byambaa.
The two sides discussed the issue of further developing friendly relations between the two countries and two peoples and a series of matters of mutual concern.
The talks proceeded in a friendly atmosphere.
