Inter-Korean dialogue called for

Pyongyang, March 1 (KCNA) -- The Egypt-Korea Friendship Association recently released a statement supporting the proposal put forward by the DPRK political parties and organizations at a joint meeting. The statement said: We are convinced that the realization of the proposal for dialogue will undoubtedly be helpful towards the reunification of Korea on the basis of the three principles of independence, peaceful reunification and great national unity which were agreed to by the north and the south. We ardently hope that a wide-ranging dialogue will be held between the north and the south as early as possible and Korea reunified through confederacy.

Sea mobile training in S. Korea

Pyongyang, March 1 (KCNA) -- The South Korean warmaniacs staged a sea mobile training against the north on the West Sea from Feb. 25 to 28, a Seoul-based radio reported. The training, largest ever since the beginning of the year, involved many warships such as destroyer, patrol boat and clipper and warplanes including antisubmarine patrol planes and antisubmarine helicopters. In the training a joint operation of the naval and air forces was carried out along with an anti-ship, anti-air and anti-ground live-firing drill. The training, which took place at the time of "change of regime" in South Korea, indicates that the warmaniacs are still seeking confrontation and increased tension.

"Korean Central Yearbook" No. 50

Pyongyang, March 1 (KCNA) -- A meeting took place on Feb. 28 to mark the publication of "Korean Central Yearbook" No. 50. A decree of the Central People's Committee of the DPRK was read out at the meeting before the order of the National Flag First Class was awarded to the book that greatly contributes to widely introducing the advantages of the Korean socialism centred on the popular masses at home and abroad. Then followed a report. The reporter said that the 50 years of the yearbook is a brilliant history of the wise guidance of President Kim Il Sung and General Kim Jong Il who initiated the edition and wisely led it. During the period, famous works of President Kim Il Sung and General Kim Jong Il and the data of their glorious revolutionary activities have been edited historically and profoundly, the reporter said. Russian Committee for Sun's Day inaugurated

Pyongyang, March 1 (KCNA) -- A Russian Organizing Committee for Commemoration of Sun's Day was inaugurated on Feb. 26. Aleksandr Kapto, Vice Director of the Institute of Social and Political Affairs and Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, was elected Chairman of the committee. The committee in its statement said that this year the progressive forces over the world together with the Korean people would commemorate Sun's Day, the 86th birthday of President Kim Il Sung (April 15) and that his august name was associated with the heroic chronicles of the 20th century. The statement said the cause pioneered by President Kim Il Sung has been carried forward successfully by the supreme leader of the Korean people General Kim Jong Il, which creditably guarantees the completion of the Juche cause. "We will pay boundless homage to President Kim Il Sung, the greatest man in our era, by grandly commemorating Sun's Day", the statement added.

Papers blast S. Korea for military drill

Pyongyang, March 1 (KCNA) -- The South Korean warmaniacs staged an anti-north military drill for several days with the mobilization of the puppet army's "Ulji Eagle" unit, "Jonjin" unit and the combat commanding training corps under the puppet army education command, crying for "establishment of combat posture" and "increased combat commanding and controlling capacity". This comes under fire in papers here today. In a commentary Rodong Sinmun says: The drill, which shows they are trying hard to unleash a war against the north in league with outsiders, is a premeditated provocation aimed at threatening peace and aggravating the situation in the country. Their aerial, ground and naval exercises with U.S. troops have rendered confrontation between the north and the south all the more acute and driven the situation of the country to the brink of war. It is foolish of the South Korean warmaniacs to try to emerge from the serious political and economic confusion and crisis in such a way as resorting to military adventure against the north. The provokers can never go scotfree. They must clearly know that they will get nothing but destruction in war preparations against the fellow countrymen in the north.

Rodong Sinmun denounces U.S. warhawks

Pyongyang, March 1 (KCNA) -- The U.S. military warhawks are now crying over the DPRK's "possible surprise attack." Commenting on it, Rodong Sinmun today warns them to ponder over matters, not misjudging the situation, overheated with a daydream. U.S. Pacific Commander-In-Chief Joseph Prueher, in an interview with the New York Times on Feb. 20, said since most of the U.S. units based in the Asia-Pacific region were sent to areas surrounding Iraq, the forces for coping with "emergency" in Asia have been decreased drastically. He also said "north Korea's surprise attack" is the first target of vigilance. Their outcries over "north Korea's surprise attack" revealed their intention to start another war on the Korean Peninsula under its pretext, Rodong Sinmun says, and continues: With the united states trying to attack the DPRK with military force, we can never sit with folded arms. We do not reject dialogue and negotiations. But we cannot allow them to be used as means of testing and stifling us. If the U.S. warhawks attempt to play a military gamble behind the scene of talks, we will cope with it with greater strength.
