Meetings held for spring tree planting
Pyongyang, March 11 (KCNA) -- A joint meeting of working people's organizations and a national meeting of youth and schoolchildren were held here on Tuesday to launch an all-people campaign for spring tree planting.
On April 6, Juche 36 (1947), President Kim Il Sung personally planted trees on Munsu Hill. Then a new history of nature-remaking drive for planting trees on mountains and hills was started in Korea and that day has been commemorated as day of tree planting in the country.
It was emphasized at the meetings that all the working people, youth and schoolchildren should turn out as one in the tree-planting campaign for the prosperity of the country in hearty response to the Workers' Party of Korea's far-reaching plan on land development.
The meetings called for planting trees in an intensive and effective way on the day and in the month of tree planting. It was also stressed that a large number of persimmon, cryptomeria, Pyongyang poplar and other trees should be planted so as to create timber forests, forests of economic value, reserved forests and ornamental forests in a far-sighted way and turn towns, the countryside, streets, villages and workplaces into gardens and parks.
Rodong Sinmun on outbursts inciting confrontation with DPRK
Pyongyang, March 11 (KCNA) -- A few days ago, the "Defence Minister" of the newly-inaugurated South Korean regime cried that South Korea must maintain "full preparedness to cope with the north's actual threats to security."
Commenting on his outbursts, a news analyst of Rodong Sinmun today says:
During the "civilian" dictatorship following military juntas in South Korea, all military bosses took the lead in inciting confrontation with the north, groundlessly finding faults with the north.
We cannot but suspect that the new "Defence Minister" has inherited all the bellicose colors of his predecessors.
His anti-north clamourings convince us that the new South Korean regime follows in the crime-woven footprints of the "cijqcddictatorship, which has driven the inter-Korean confrontation to an extreme pitch by branding the fellow countrymen in the north as "enemies" and escalating confrontation and war preparations against the DPRK.
The disgraceful ends of the successive warmaniacs eloquently show what fate will go to those who rush headlong along the road of confrontation and war against the DPRK, obsessed with a foolish design of unifying the country through invasion of the north.
The new "Defence Minister" would be well advised to draw a lesson from this and ponder over all things.
Patriotic and fair proposal
Pyongyang, March 11 (KCNA) -- Foreign organizations and public figures issued statements hailing the proposal adopted at the joint meeting of the political parties and organizations of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
The Madagascar-Korea Friendship and Solidarity Committee said in a statement that the political parties and organizations of South Korea should accept the patriotic and fair proposal without delay.
The South Korean rulers should make a switchover of policy to reject outside forces, take a patriotic stand and shape the destiny of the nation hand in hand with fellow countrymen, the statement added.
The group for the study of the Juche idea of Kim Il Sung-Kim Jong Il in Vienna, Austria, said in a statement that Korea's reunification should be realized in accordance with the proposal for national reunification expounded by President Kim Il Sung and that all the political parties and organizations of south korea should be united under the banner of the three charters of national reunification.
George Fung-On, Minister of public services of the Guyanese presidential office, said in a statement that the north and the south should respect the three principles of national reunification and settle the reunification issue in an independent and peaceful way. He held that the South Korean authorities should discard the policy of dependence on outside forces and turn to a pro-north reconciliation policy.
Samuel Warker, Chairman of the Guyanese Labour Union, said in a press statement that the South Korean authorities should remove the institutional and physical obstacles blocking the improvement of inter-Korean relations to express bona fides to open a phase favorable to Korea's reunification. It is a prerequisite for the peace and peaceful reunification of Korea to pull down the concrete wall, abolish the "National Security Law" and dissolve the "Agency for National Security Planning", he said.
Benefits upon foreign women
Pyongyang, March 11 (KCNA) -- The Pyongyang Maternity Hospital in Korea is one of the medical service centers for the women.
The hospital gives medical service to foreign women as well as the Korean women.
The hospital has given obstetrical and gynaecological treatment to some 6,500 foreign women and assisted 400 of them at a childbirth since it opened (march, 1980).
Among them was Maira Pardillo Gomez, wife of Raul Garcia Alvarez who was the former Prensj Latina Cndent in Korea.
She had no children because of her habitual abortion for 8 years after marriage.
She was pregnant and hospitalized one day in 1990.
Aware of the fact, General Kim Jong Il made it sure that she could be safely assisted at a childbirth before returning home and treated as before.
She and her husband were blessed with a son in November and sent a letter of thanks to General Kim Jong Il and asked him to name their son.
He personally named the son "Saebbyol" symbolic of the friendship between Korea and Cuba, and sent clothing and foodstuff to Saebbyol.
He also gave a name "Jindalae" to a daughter of former Palestinian Ambassador to Korea Mustafa Al Safarini when she was born and a name "Solmae" to a son of embassy official Shihad Al Aragy when he was born.
Under his loving care a lot of foreign women including wives of diplomatic officials in korea enjoyed benefits at the hospital.
Reckless nuclear fanatics
Pyongyang, March 11 (KCNA) -- The strategic command of the U.S. Defense Department in a study report on March 1 said that they would "keep up nuclear retaliation threat" to the DPRK and other countries, describing these countries as potential "attackers" and "hostile nations".
Commenting on this, Rodong Sinmun today says:
The U.S. nuclear fanatics are of the view that only the nuclear stick makes it possible to hold other countries under the U.S. girdle and subordinate the world to its will and strategical interests. The call for the "sustained nuclear retaliation threat" is just motivated by this view of theirs.
The U.S. nuclear weapons are levelled at the developing countries, revolutionary and independent countries in particular. It cannot be overlooked that the United States regards the DPRK as the main target of its nuclear strategy.
The DPRK's "possible attack on the U.S." advertized by the U.S. bellicose elements is a fiction invented to justify their nuclear strategy. It is the United States that is seeking military threat, blackmail and attack. It is the height of shamelessness that the United States is trying to attack other countries with the nuclear stick while branding them as attackers.
The U.S. nuclear threat to other countries cannot be justified in any case.
Undying feats in achieving harmonious whole of party and people
