"Political prisoners" in S. Korea must be released
Pyongyang, March 18 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today comes out with a signed commentary on recently-taken "amnesty and reinstatement measures" in South Korea.
Branding them as a showy drama to win popularity, the analyst of the paper urges the release of all the "political prisoners."
The analyst further says:
Millions of people were reportedly released by the "measures." but the "political prisoners" released numbered only some 70.
"Political prisoners" including the unconverted long-term prisoners and students of the South Korean Federation of University Student Councils who were detained on charges of the involvement in the "Yonsei University Incident" , were excluded from the "measures."
We express regret that the ruling quarters of South Korea excluded "political prisoners" including pro-reunification activists from the "measures" after they openly objected to the abrogation of the "National Security Law" on March 11.
The showy "measures" make us suspect that the present authorities of South Korea intend to follow in the crime-woven footsteps of the former "civilian" dictators.
They should bear it in mind that politics against the popular feelings will never bear a good fruition and should take measures to set free all the "political prisoners."

First people's government in Korea
Pyongyang, March 18 (KCNA) -- Sixtyfive years have passed since President Kim Il Sung established a people's revolutionary government at the guerrilla zone during the anti-Japanese armed struggle.
In a signed article contributed to this anniversary, Rodong Sinmun today says:
The government was the first genuine one for people in the world history of governments.
Until before the emergence of the people's revolutionary government, communists and people did know no form of government but Commune and Soviet.
The President corrected leftist tendency and extra-leftist practices manifested in the building of a government and energetically directed the work to implement the line of building a people's revolutionary government in conformity with actual conditions of the Korean revolution and in the interests of the people.
On March 18, Juche 22 (1933), he directed a meeting to establish a people's revolutionary government and said that its mission was not to serve landlords or capitalists or any other individuals for their interests but fight for rights and freedom of the people and for the independence of the country and their happiness.
Thus, a people's revolutionary government based on the worker-peasant alliance, a united front body, was established at the guerrilla zone.
With the establishment of the new-type government, the Korean people could triumphantly advance the Korean revolution by firmly rallying broad segments of anti-Japanese forces.
The people's power was established after the country was liberated on August 15, 1945.
Basing himself upon his successes and experience gained in establishing and managing the people's revolutionary government, the president set up a people's power immediately after the country's liberation and constantly strengthened and developed it.
Today, the people's power is creditably carrying out its mission, that is to fully defend the independent rights of the people, cultivate their creative ingenuity and take care of their lives in a responsible way.
