Indian party leader on Sun's Day
Pyongyang, March 24 (KCNA) -- D. Vishwas, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the All-India forward bloc, issued a statement to the press on Mar. 17 on Sun's Day and said that the august name of President Kim Il Sung, symbolic of the struggle for justice, peace and socialism, will inspire hundreds of millions of people in the world forever.
The model of socialist construction was set in Korea, he said, noting that the Pyongyang declaration is an inspiring banner for the strengthening and development of the socialist movement.
"We pay high tribute to comrade Kim Jong Il who is devoting his all to accomplishing the revolutionary cause of President Kim Il Sung.
"We declare that we will always stand on the side of the heroic Korean people," he stressed.
Rodong Sinmun on outbursts of national unification minister
Pyongyang, March 24 (KCNA) -- "Minister of National Unification" of South Korea Kang In Dok said that they would not "repeat the same mistake as in the past in the issue of repatriating unconverted long-term prisoners."
Commenting on his remarks, Rodong Sinmun today says:
It is an unavoidable legal obligation of the present South Korean regime to resolve the issue of the repatriation of unconverted long-term prisoners, the offspring of wrong-doings of the successive dictators who did not want national reconciliation and unity.
His remarks cannot be construed otherwise than an open declaration that they would not send the unconverted long-term prisoners of the DPRK origin back to the north. In Essence, it means that they would suffocate them to death by keeping them in custody in South Korea where they have no blood relations.
We are disappointed at his remarks.
The South Korean ruling quarters are advertising about "reunion of separated families" and "solution of humanitarian issues."
If it had been true, they should have expressed their willingness to repatriate the unconverted long-term prisoners, which is vital to solving humanitarian issues and improving the relations between the north and the south.
We express once again our apprehensions over Kang In Dok's remarks that he would not solve such an urgent matter as repatriating the unconverted long-term prisoners.
Rodong Sinmun calls for accelerating forced march
Pyongyang, March 24 (KCNA) -- The signal fire kindled by General Kim Jong Il at the Songjin Steel Complex represents the invariable determination and will of the Workers' Party of Korea to break through difficulties with bold offensives and ensure a new passage of advance in socialist economic construction, says Rodong Sinmun in a signed article today.
The author of the article says:
Gifted with clairvoyant intelligence and extraordinary penetration, the General takes the initiative and pulls through difficulties whenever the situation is complicated and a vast task is raised and leads the revolution to victory.
It is under his revolutionary guidance that the Korean people had been able to valiantly make the "arduous march" and that they are now firmly convinced they would win the final victory in the present forced march.
With a view to making a new advance in socialist economic construction, the General has found himself among the people, encouraged them to redouble their confidence and kindled a signal fire of great upsurge so as to spread it throughout the country. He concentrated efforts on the main link and boosted the national economy as a whole. This is precisely the wisdom of his guidance.
His guidance inspires the Korean people with redoubled confidence and courage and enables them to make the final victory, valiantly pulling through any difficulties.
Veteran's life
Pyongyang, March 24 (KCNA) -- A new merited lecturer is welcoming visitors to the victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum.
He is a war veteran Han Ju Gyong, 73, who had long worked at the military armistice commission (Panmunjom mission of the Korean People's Army). He worked there for 30 years after he joined the army during the war.
On March 6 he was awarded the military title of lt.
General of the KPA and appointed a merited lecturer of the Museum.
General Secretary Kim Jong Il acquainted himself in detail with his work and life and highly praised him for his merited service.
Looking back with deep emotion upon him one day in late February, comrade Kim Jong Il told officials to see what he was doing and let him work as a merited lecturer at the Museum. And he was given a modern flat and a car as gifts.
Dozens of war veteran merited lecturers at the Museum are loved by the people.
Reinforcement of repressive tools in S. Korea
Pyongyang, March 24 (KCNA) -- The Government Administration and local autonomy of South Korea (former Ministr of Home Affairs) on Mar. 20 made public a plan to promote the existing police organs in Kwangju, Taejon and Ulsan to the local police offices, according to a Seoul based radio report.
It also opened to the public a plan to organize "autonomous crime prevention teams" and full-time "voluntary service teams".
Following in the wake of the preceding rulers' repression, the new regime of South Korea is going to squander taxes squeezed from the people on reinforcing the repressive tools even in defiance of the financial crisis under the IMF's trusteeship.
Sinpho area fishing bases
Pyongyang, March 24 (KCNA) -- There are many fishing bases in our country. Sinpho city on the east coast has several fishing bases--large Sinpho and Yanghwa fisheries, fishermen's cooperatives, culture farms and fishing sub-workteams.
Ports, major or minor, at these fishing bases are all mechanized and automated and can serve all types of fishing boats.
This area is provided with several ten-thousand-ton freezing factories, fish-processing centres, shipyard, ship-repair and fishing-tackle production centres.
Fisheries have scores of large, modern and all-purpose fishing boasts--12,000-ton processing mother ships, freezing-transport ships, 7,000-ton trawlers. They catch a lot of fish through deep-sea fishing, irrespective of weather.
The sea off Sinpho is Korea's leading pollack fishing ground.
The fisheries in the Sinpho area are engaged mainly in deep-sea fishing and properly combine inshore fishing with it all the year round.
The Sinpho fishery carried out its fish-catch quota under the six-year national economic plan (1971-1976) one year and a half ahead of schedule. Fisheries here play a big role in reaching the nation's fishing goal.
The processing bases here mass-produce frozen fish, pickled fish, fish-powder and salted fish eggs.
Fish is supplied across the country and exported in large quantities.
There are modern apartment blocks and modern villages, a house of culture for deep-sea fishermen and cultural centres, hospitals, polyclinics, schools, kindergartens and creches and trade networks.
There are also a fisheries college and technician training centres in fisheries and a fishermen's college, a part-time higher educational institution for fishing fleets.
Special state benefits are given to fishermen and there are a special supply centre and rest home for deep-sea fishermen.
Sinpho was desolate with some wooden boats before Korea's liberation. But now it has turned into a modern fishing industrial centre under the wise guidance and concern of President Kim Il Sung.
He made a large state investment in the fishing industry here and gave personal guidance to it and looked after fishermen's life.
The Korean fishermen celebrate March 22 as their jubilee to mark that day in Juche 46 (1957) when he visited Sinpho and immortalize his exploits. Fihermen here are resolved to catch more fish.
