Pyongyang construction accelerated
Pyongyang, May 4 (KCNA) -- Projects to change the appearance of Pyongyang have been vigorously accelerated with the approach of the 50th National Day (September 9).
A new street construction from Rimhung intersection linked with the Kumsusan Memorial Palace, sacred ground of the sun, to Sinmi-dong is a main one of the projects.
The street stretches nearly 16 kilometres.
Soldier-builders successfully built up the skeleton of a new road with two large-scale blastings.
Trees have been planted along the road.
Over one million trees were planted and some 80,000 square metres turfed in the 6 km section from Pyongyang airport to Sinmi-dong.
The construction of over 2,000 flats is being accelerated on a full scale.
At present, the frame assembling of over 120 apartment houses has been completed in the main.
Soldier-builders in the construction of the April 25 Hotel have carried out more than 90 percent of the frame assembling by simultaneously pushing ahead with the construction of over 10 buildings.
In various construction sites including the April 25 Film Studio of the Korean People's Army and the General Koryo Medicine Hospital, a new method of building has been introduced to finish the projects by the 50th anniversary of the National Day.
G.S. Kim Jong Il inspects KPA unit no. 757
Pyongyang, May 4 (KCNA) - General Secretary Kim Jong Il inspected the command of the KPA unit no. 757 on May 3.
General Kim Jong Il went round a room for education in revolutionary relics, a room for education in revolutionary traditions and a class education room of the unit.
He said that it is very good that the unit is giving the revolutionary education and class education in various and efficient ways to suit the features of young soldiers. The noble spirit of the revolutionary forerunners should be implanted in the mind of the servicemen of the rising generation and the reactionary nature of the imperialist aggressors and class enemies should be brought home to them, so that they may defend the socialist system centred on the popular masses, the precious gains of the Korean people, at the risk of their lives with burning hatred for the enemy, he stressed.
He called at the operation command room to learn about how the unit was discharging its combat duty.
He said that the revolutionary armed forces should be further strengthened to cope with the ever intensified new war manoeuvres of the imperialists and their stooges against the DPRK.
He set forth highly important tasks which serve as guidelines in increasing the combat power of the unit in every way.
He went round the cultural education facilities and compound of the unit. He noted that the construction of minor power stations now under way should be completed fast to electrify all the supply service facilities of the unit.
He further said that the army should be a model in the land management including the forests, roads, rivers and streams around the unit.
He posed for a souvenir photograph with the officers and nen of the unit.
Suppression of pro-reunification forces
Pyongyang, May 4 (KCNA) -- The new government of South Korea is suppressing the pro-reunification patriotic forces.
The situation two months and more after the appearance of the people's government in South Korea shows that there is nothing to expect from it.
The present rulers have fully revealed their anti-democratic nature in the crackdown on the South Korean Federation of University Student Councils (Hanchongryon), a mass organisation of the South Korean students.
They defined Hanchongryon as an enemy-benefiting organisation in view of the national security law and checked the meeting of deputies to the sixth-term Hanchongryon. The fascists mobilized 34 police companies more than 4,500 strong and helicopters on April 9 and reinforced the repressive forces at over 7,000 the next day, the opening day of the meeting.
After they frustrated the meeting, they issued a repressive order to arrest the interim chairman, deputies and all other hardcore members of the organisation and sent the police across South Korea the list of 400-500 persons to be arrested.
They plan to upgrade police tools in Kwangju, Taejon and Ulsan to local police agencies and form detached police forces and gave even park caretakers the judicial police power, expanding repressive tools and forces. And they are mercilessly cracking down on the people's aspiration for reunification and their progressive activities.
All facts show that the present rulers are suppressors little different from the preceding civilian-veiled fascist clique.

Being briefed on the history of the home where he fostered a great ambition for the independence of Korea and for freedom and happiness of the people, they looked round relics preserved there.
After posing for a souvenir picture in front of the home, they went up to Mangyong Hill to have a bird's-eye view of the city.
On the same day, art troupe members spent a pleasant time at Mangyongdae fun fair with schoolchildren and working people in the city.
The children of the north and the south deepened compatriotic feelings, dancing and singing happy to see you, our wish is reunification and other songs.
Earlier, the art troupe visited the Tower of the Juche Idea, the monument to party founding, etc.
Dangerous "cooperation"
Pyongyang, May 4 (KCNA) -- The U.S. State Secretary and the South Korean Foreign Minister had talks on May 1 and agreed to closely cooperate in the policy towards the north, according to a radio report from Seoul.
Taking the U.S.-toeing stance at the talks, the South Korean authorities agreed with their master to cooperate in isolating the north and seeking permanent division of Korea.
The U.S. State Secretary fully supported the puppets' confrontation with the north.
The fact shows that though the South Korean authorities are calling for reconciliation and unity, their call is an empty word and they are persistently seeking dependence on outsiders, not national independence.
Japanese reactionaries hit for trying to embellish war of aggression
Pyongyang, May 4 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun May 4 denounces the Japanese reactionaries for seeking a nationwide show of a film pride to embellish the past war of aggression from May.
The film deals with Hideki Tojo, who was punished as an A-Class War Criminal in accordance with a decision of the international tribunal right after the second world war.
The film distorts Japan's past invasion to Asia, claiming that Tojo defended the pride of the Japanese nation.
The news analyst says:
The Japanese reactionaries, far from making an apology for and repenting of the indelible shocking crime, are openly denying and beautifying it. Their act proves to be shameless.
By screening the film the Japanese reactionaries seek to eradicate the guilty conscience of the past and implant the pride of the past in the minds of the Japanese.
Their scheming to incite what they call pride and militarism among the people through such a propaganda medium as film clearly proves that the moves to revive militarism and stage a comeback have already reached a dangerous phase.
Now the Asian people are not what they were in the past.
If the Japanese reactionaries dare repeat the past, ignoring the trend of the time, they will certainly meet nothing but a thousandfold revenge and defeat.

In the budget of the "ANSP" the traitor Kim Young Sam spent 96.7 billion won for the 1992 "Presidential election" and 44 billion won for the "National Assembly Election" in April, 1996.
More than 106.2 billion won from the "ANSP" budget in 1996 flew into the ruling party in the name of the "fund for policy execution."
