Implementation of five-point policy of great national unity called for

Pyongyang, May 6 (KCNA) -- The publication of General Kim Jong Il's historic letter "Let Us Reunify the Country Independently and Peacefully Through the Great Unity of the Entire Nation," an undying library of great national unity which has opened up bright prospects for national reunification, is a great fortune of the Korean people. Chairwoman Ryu Mi Yong of the central committee of the Chondoist Chongu Party made the remarks in her statement dated May 5 supporting the letter. She said: It is only too reasonable that the General said the principle of national independence is the very basis of the great unity of the entire nation. The homogeneous Korean people who love the country and nation more than anybody else and have a strong capacity for united action have failed to achieve reconciliation and unity because the South Korean ruling quarters do not stand true to the principle of national independence. With the successive rulers of South Korea pursuing the policy of dependence on outside forces the unity of the nation has not yet been achieved. Any one who truly wants inter-Korean reconciliation and national unity should take the road of national independence, not dependence on outsiders. The Chondoist Chongu Party will carry through the five-point policy of great national unity which developed President Kim Il Sung's idea of great national unity to meet the requirements of the present times, and greatly help achieve the great unity of the entire nation in reliance upon the full display of spirit of the singlehearted unity. She expressed the belief that all the religionists and people of other social strata of South Korea, including Chondoists, will actively join in a nationwide struggle for the full implementation of the five-point policy of the great unity of the entire nation.

He went on to say: NDFSK appeals to the 10 million workers to fight out for true labour emancipation and building of a new independent, democratic society.

Five-point policy of great national unity supported

Pyongyang, May 6 (KCNA) -- Indian political and public figures supported "Let Us Reunify the Country Independently and Peacefully Through the Great Unity of the Entire Nation," a historic letter of General Kim Jong Il. Briz Mohan, Chairman of the Indian People's Front, in a press statement on April 24 said that General Kim Jong Il in his letter set forth the five-point policy of great national unity to reunify the country. The policy serves as the only banner to accelerate the reunification of Korea, he stressed. He expressed the belief that all the Korean people will achieve the reunification of the country at an early date, encouraged by his letter. The co-chairman of the All-India Peace and Solidarity organisation in a press statement on April 27 warmly welcomed the letter, saying that it is the only just program which carries a constructive proposal to achieve the reunification of the country by the efforts of the Korean people themselves. The way for Korea's reunification which accords with the interest of the nation cannot be found only by negotiations between authorities, he said. Only when all the Koreans in the north, south and overseas are united under the banner of national reunification and make free and sincere discussions, can a reasonable and realistic way for reunification be found. He urged the South Korean authorities to affirmatively respond to the proposal for reunification through confederation and the five-point policy of great national unity.

Ceaseless war manoeuvres in South Korea

Pyongyang, May 6 (KCNA) -- The South Korean army metropolitan defense command staged another criminal war exercise, according to a radio report from Seoul. The command announced that vehicles of all the units under it will take part in the exercise and pass through the central part of Seoul including Kwanak, Tongjak and Jongro districts on may 4 and 9. The puppets also declared that a mountain-crossing march will be made in Jongro and Unphyong districts. Such ceaseless war manoeuvres fully reveal the bellicose colors of the new "government" of South Korea.

S. Korean rulers hit for brutal suppression of labour movement

Pyongyang, May 6 (KCNA) -- The spokesman for the central committee of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea issued a statement to the press on May 5 denouncing the South Korean authorities for their fascist suppression of democratic labour movement. The statement describes the South Korean authorities' indiscriminate suppression of workers, who held a peaceful rally on may 1 calling for right to existence and freedom, and the arrest of scores of them as a brutal action aimed at emerging from the ongoing ruling crisis caused by political confusion and economic depression. The statement says: Their suppression of the righteous struggle of workers showed that the "labor-management-government agreement" on their lips is a sheer lie and that the South Korean rulers are clean indifferent to the life and interests of the workers and people of other social strata. The realities of South Korea clearly show that there is nothing for the South Korean workers and people of other social strata to expect from the present "government" any longer. Only slavish submission, toil and miserable death are in store for the workers and other laboring people in South Korea where the calls of the people for breaking with the past and making a policy shift are ignored and the former rulers' fascist and anti-social policy of dependence on outsiders still remain unchanged. The South Korean workers should harbour no illusion about the present government, but win a new life through their united efforts. If the South Korean upper echelons in power do not want to meet a miserable end as their predecessors did, they should put an immediate halt to the fascist suppression of workers and other people and release the unreasonably arrested workers and students at once.
