Shameless challenge to justice and truth = KCNA commentary =
Pyongyang, May 14 (KCNA) -- The Japanese government decided to totally deny the ruling of the Yamaguchi district court that it should make state compensations to former "Comfort Women for the Japanese Army" and lodged an intermediate appeal with the Hiroshima high court on May 8, according to a news report.
Enraging people, this is a shameless challenge to justice and truth.
As already reported, the Yamaquchi district court in Japan recently made a comparatively fair decision that the Japanese government should compensate 300,000 yen to each of three "comfort women" of South Korean origin who brought lawsuits for compensation against it. Though belated and partial, it can be said to be fortunate for the conscience of humankind, who values justice, truth and human rights.
Nevertheless, the Japanese government lodged an intermediate appeal in defiance of elementary human ethics, morality and international law. This reveals that the moral inferiority and shamelessness of the present Japanese authorities have already reached the extremity of subhumanity.
The criminal "comfort women" case, which was recorded as an unprecedented disgrace in human history, is a monstrous rape committed by the Japanese imperialists with the connivance of the government. In those days, the Japanese imperialists established the unprecedented system of "comfort women" to supply women as war munitions, crying that it was necessary to gratify sexual demands of soldiers in order to retain their war zeal and combat capacity.
Women of Korea and other countries, more than 200,000, were "hunted" and enlisted as "comfort women." the Japanese imperialists locked them in wooden brothels. A woman was raped by 20 to 40 Japanese beasts every day. In case "comfort women" refused to obey, they dismembered their limbs or gouged out their breasts, thus killing them. They regarded it as their pleasure.
It is not accidental that the entire humankind feels indignant at the crimes concerning the "comfort women."
How to liquidate bestial crimes and disgraceful past of Japan today when the 21st century is coming is considered a touchstone for determining qualifications of the Japanese as human beings.
The Japanese authorities must clearly know that without the sincere liquidation of their past, they cannot clear themselves of such a dishonor as a "filthy country" and "morally inferior country."
Human conscience is following the attitude of Japan.
Rodong Sinmun on S. Korean chief executive's "dialogue with people"
Pyongyang, May 14 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today, commenting on the South Korean authority's recent "dialogue with people," says politics is not a waste of words.
Though the South Korean economic situation has become all the more serious, he embellished the situation, alleging that the serious economic crisis has been brought under control and the economy improved, the daily says, and continued:
In the "dialogue" he said the economic crisis can be straightened out and the unemployment problem solved only through the introduction of more foreign capital and the application of a lay-off system. His remark is really ludicrous. It is due to foreign capital that the South Korean economy has been ruined.
He paid no concern to the national reunification issue but cried for "reciprocity" which is necessary between countries.
His "dialogue with people" was aimed at pacifying public discontent, ensuring the "stability of the regime" and winning success in the forthcoming "local self-government election."
Rodong Sinmun on strengthening non-aligned movement
Pyongyang, May 14 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today carries a signed article on strengthening and developing the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).
"Let Us Further Strengthen and Develop the NAM under the Banner of anti-Imperialist Independence", which is a call of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the DPRK, reflects the idea on further expanding and strengthening the NAM under the changed circumstance, the daily says, and goes on:
What is important in strengthening the NAM at present is that the NAM should invariably adhere to the basic idea of anti-imperialist independence, strengthen its unity and cohesion, expand its ranks and develop South-South Cooperation.
The non-aligned countries should steadily strengthen the Nam under the banner of anti-imperialist independence, not wavering under any complicated situation.
They should counter the divisive and alienation moves of the imperialists with the strategy of unity, settle divergence of views and disputes on the principle of mutual respect, non-interference in other's internal affairs, equality and reciprocity and firmly unite with each other.
Unity is the only way of strengthening the NAM and enhancing its position and role in the international arena.
It is also important to continue expanding its ranks. In expanding its ranks, it is imperative to appreciate and admit applicants with loyalty to its basic idea and principle as a criterion.
If the non-aligned countries develop South-South Cooperation, they can develop the economy without recourse to the developed countries.
Intensifying economic power is tantamount to the strengthening of resisting power against the west.
The Workers' Party and people of Korea will in the future, too, remain loyal to the basic idea and principle of the NAM and vigorously advance shoulder to shoulder with the non-aligned countries in the struggle to oppose imperialism and build a new independent world.

The daily goes on:
General Kim Jong Il's all-embracing politics is the politics of noble human love that embraces all people with loving care. It is the most magnanimous and patriotic politics that unites all classes and strata of the nation rock-firm for the common cause of the country and the nation.
Steadfast are his faith and will to accomplish the cause of national reunification, the lifelong intention of President Kim Il Sung and the vital requirement of the nation, through the great unity of the entire nation in our generation.

Five-point policy, banner of Korea's reunification
Pyongyang, May 14 (KCNA) -- Randriamvao Mahubazaka, General Secretary of the United Party of Struggle of Madagascar, made public a statement on May 5 supporting the five-point policy of great national unity advanced by General Kim Jong Il.
In the statement, he said that the five-point policy is a library of great national unity and banner of Korea's reunification which indicates the way of accelerating national reunification through the great unity of the nation.
He called upon all political parties, organisations and public figures in South Korea to turn out as one in the sacred struggle to achieve great national unity and Korea's reunification, upholding the five-point policy.
He urged the new rulers of South Korea to discard the treacherous policy of dependence upon outside forces and take the road of national unity and reunification.
He demanded that the United States abandon the anachronistic Korea policy, withdraw its troops from South Korea without delay and stop interfering in the internal affairs of Korea and obstructing Korea's reunification.
The Central Committee of the Romanian Communist Party in a statement on May 4 expressed support for the five-point policy of the great unity of the Korean nation and declared that it would firmly stand by the side of the heroic Korean people fighting to achieve the independent and peaceful reunification of the country against the anti-reunification moves of the U.S. and their stooges.

Popular Susok resources
Pyongyang, May 14 (KCNA) -- Korea is abundant in Susok resources as it has many mountains, valleys, rivers and streams, long coastlines.
Susok means natural rock of ornamental and antiquarian value which is shaped after being washed by water for a long time.
Korea has formed the Susok association, a permanent body of the central committee of the Korean General Federation of Science and Technology in order to make an efficient use of Susok resources.
The association is carrying on active prospecting work across the country on the basis of settling a geological premise on Susok. And it is arranging Susok exhibition halls in different places and disseminating science and technology on Susok.
Displayed at a recent exhibition in Pyongyang were more than 200 pieces of Susok found throughout the country. These are various in size and form, drawing a particular attention for their ornamental and antiquarian value. Great valuable in particular are those found in the basins of the River Ryesong in Kumchon county, North Hwanghae Province, and the River Rimjin in Poptong county, Kangwon Province. Among them are a rock giving a special show of a landscape of mountains and water with one or several waterfalls, a rock showing mountain peaks surrounding a lake and a rock showing human and animal figures.
Kim Wan U, permanent vice-chairman of the Susok association, said that multifarious rocks of Korea will attract great popularity at home and abroad in the future.
Statements of leader Kim Jong Il
Tokyo, May 14 (Korea News Service)-- Mother Mountain--"Mt. Paekdu is the mother where all the mountain ridges of Korea converge. Moreover, it is the great home of the revolution where the precious revolutionary tradition was formed, which the Korean people should hand down from generation to generation.
"The revolutionary spirit that rose in flames in the thick forests of Mt. Paekdu, is the most precious asset which should shine in this land from generation to generation, and is the immortal banner which guarantees the boundless prosperity of the Korean nation."
On Revolutionaries-- " We are human beings before we are revolutionaries.
We should know human beings and love them."
"A flower bud is beautiful in itself, but when it opens into a flower, it becomes more beautiful. When I say there is no complete revolutionary, I do not have in mind the height to which the ordinary man cannot climb, but rather the high demand and humble character a communist does not feel satisfied in attaining in his spiritual and moral training."
For the People-- "The popular masses are the most excellent, the greatest and the most beautiful beings in this world. Because of this, I enthusiastically adore the popular masses. Our best teacher is the popular masses. There is no teacher in this world wiser and more intelligent than the popular masses."
"There are big things and small things in our work, but there should be no big or small things in the heart of service to the people. Even if the work is small, we must do it with the utmost enthusiasm and sincerity, if it is for the people.
We must be true servants to the people."
Living in the Korean Way-- "Living in the Korean way means thinking with our own heads, acting and solving everything with our own strength according to the interests of our country's revolution and people, as demanded by the Juche idea."
"Just as a poet who does not love nature, cannot sing of its beauty, so a natural scientist who does not love the nature of his fatherland, cannot remake it into a bountiful and beatiful one, nor can he explore its inexhaustible resources to contribute to the strength and prosperity of the state or to the increased welfare of the people."
Trust and Love-- "No genius, hero or great man move the hearts of the people unless he has the heart and love with which to lead them along the glorious road of revolution." "Nothing is more precious to a human being than his friends. A human being must know to respect and love his friends, share their sorrows as his own, and sacrifice himself for them."
The Party-- "Our party is the mother party. Therefore, a party activist must always have the traits of a mother and have warm contact with the people. He should listen to the masses and work energitically and tirelessly for their interests.
This is the style and basic character of our party's activist."
"The party is the core of the independent socio-political organism, as a pivotal contingent of the popular masses, firmly united organizationally and ideologically, with the leader as the center."
The Juche-Oriented World-View--"We should not confine ourselves to associating the mission of philosophy with the practical transformation of the world, but should consider it from the standpoint of what the purpose of transformation is, from the basic standpoint that man is the master of transformation. Viewed from the basis of man as master, it is clear that in the end the purpose of the practical transformation of the world is to hew out man's destiny."
"Philosophy should be the science of clarifying the way of hewing out man's destiny as a world-view and serve the freedom and liberation of people."
"Juche philosophy presented the position and role of man in the world as a fundamental question for philosophy, and has made clear the philosophical principle that man is the master of everything and decides everything. The fundamental question of Juche philosophy is not the question of man himself but the question of relations between the world and man, and the philosophical principle of Juche is not a mere view of life but a principle which makes clear its world-view. Juche philosophy elucidates a human-centered world-view, a Juche-oriented world-view."
Songs, Music and Emotions-"As I always say, songs should not be regarded as an art merely to be appreciated. Songs are weapons and a propelling force for revolution.
"As I always say, people must understand and love music. When they do, they can have rich feelings of life. Only those cadres who understand emotions, have feelings and are senstive, can love the people enthusiastically. This is why I often have you listen to music."
