Koreans in Russia vow to implement five-point policy of great national unity

Pyongyang, May 17 (KCNA) -- A meeting of Koreans in Russia took place in Moscow on may 12 to carry through the five-point policy of great national unity indicated by General Secretary Kim Jong Il in his famous work "Let Us Reunify the Country Independently and Peacefully Through the Great Unity of the Entire Nation." It was noted at the meeting that when the entire Korean nation in the north, south and abroad turns out in the struggle to implement the five-point policy, the day of reunification will come certainly. It was also stressed that the South Korean authorities should convert the anti-north confrontation policy into a pro-north reconciliation policy and dissolve such anti-reunification institutional machines as the "National Security Law" and "National Information Agency."

Guarantee for student movement and labour movement called for in S. Korea

Pyongyang, May 17 (KCNA) -- The Student Council of Seoul National University demanded the chief executive ensure the just student movement and labour movement on May 13, according to a radio report from Seoul. It denounced the puppet prosecution's decision to take a legal action against members of the South Korean Federation of University Student Councils (Hanchongryon), with it labelled as an "organisation benefitting the enemy," as an encroachment upon elementary human rights and free expression of view. It demanded the chief executive ensure the activities of students and workers, not suppress them by violent means.

S. Korean authorities attempt to suppress workers' struggle

Pyongyang, May 17 (KCNA) -- The South Korean fascist clique held a "meeting of security-related ministers" on May 13 and decided to strictly deal with the struggle of workers for vital rights, a Seoul-based radio report said. They took the step, branding workers' rallies and demonstrations scheduled for May 16 as "illegal" and "violent." The fascist clique threatened that they will arrest all of the demonstrators on the spot and, at the same time, in case they miss some of them, they will chase them to the end and prosecute them. This fully revealed the fascist colors of those who took power with the signboard "people's government."

Belligerent elements must not run riot =KCNA commentary=

Pyongyang, May 17 (KCNA) -- The U.S. Defense Department recently announced a plan to sell some 500 air-to-ground missiles to South Korea, according to a news report. South Korea is said to load military helicopters with them for "anti-tank combat action." This is another grave thing that is screwing up the military confrontation between the north and the south and driving the situation on the Korean peninsula to the brink of war again. Some time ago, the united states, with the Iraqi incident as an occasion, deployed huge armed forces including a new air strike force, and combat equipment in South Korea and reorganized the South Korea-based U.S. 8th Army Command and the U.S. mainland-based 3rd army into a field army system. The United States' continuous arms buildup reveals its intention to stifle the DPRK with military force. It cannot be overlooked that the present "government" of South Korea is purchasing large quantities of military hardware from the united states. The fact shows well that "dialogue" and "confidence-building" the present rulers of South Korea are calling for are no more than hypocrisies and they are in actuality following in the footsteps of the warmaniacs of the "civilian"-veiled regime. The warmongers must not run riot.

U.S. to supply 500 missiles to S. Korea

Pyongyang, May 17 (KCNA) -- The U.S. Department of Defense plans to supply the South Korean puppets with some 500 tow-2a air-to-ground missiles, their spare parts, examination equipment and technical supporting facilities, according to a foreign press report. The South Korean military is said to use the missiles for anti-tank helicopters. The U.S. , who are recklessly trying to contain the democratic people's republic of Korea by military force, have steadily supplied the puppet clique with necessary equipment, while encouraging them to another war.

S. Korean rulers must not act rashly

Pyongyang, May 17 (KCNA) -- The military brasshats of South Korea held "meetings of commanding officers" of all services and incited confrontation and war against the north. This revealed the criminal intention to create circumstances and conditions to ignite the war against the north together with outside forces. Rodong Sinmun says this in a commentary today. The daily goes on: This is stirring up disappointment and concern among the entire fellow countrymen aspiring after national eeconciliation, unity and reunification. We are heightening vigilance against this. It is a unanimous view of people at home and abroad that the warmaniacs may unleash a war against the north at any moment when the opportunity presents itself, while reinforcing armed forces and staging war manoeuvres on the pretext of the fictitious "threat of north's provocation." The puppets are styling their regime a "people's government" and paying lip service to "reconciliation" and "cooperation," but they have an axe to grind. We warn that the warmaniacs will be sternly punished if they continue to act rashly, answering the good intention of the fellow countrymen for national reconciliation and unity with intensified confrontation and war manoeuvres against the north.

Rodong Sinmun criticizes Japan's obtrusive act

Pyongyang, May 17 (KCNA) -- The Japanese government recently sent UN missions of many countries a resolution calling for support for Japan's permanent membership of the UN Security Council. Describing it as an obtrusive act, Rodong Sinmun today says the permanent seat on the un security council is not a thing which can be got with money. Japan's desire to become a permanent member of the UN Security Council, which deals with major international issues, is an insult to the UN and a challenge to justice, the daily says in a commentary, and continues: It is ridiculous for Japan to say that if it becomes a permanent member, it will be able to play a more responsible role in UN activities. If Japan fails to become a permanent member, the result will be favorable to UN activities, not negative. Japan had better fully settle the crime-woven history if it wants to be welcomed in the international arena. Without the settlement of the history, it should refrain from arguing about its permanent membership. It should take a proper position and attitude in diplomacy, too. If it continues reading other's mind, it can never win international confidence. It would be well advised to deeply think of itself before lobbying other countries for support for its permanent membership.
