Papers on just struggle of Libyan people
Pyongyang, June 11 (KCNA) -- The Korean people extend full support and firm solidarity to the Libyan people in their just struggle to defend the dignity of the nation and the sovereignty of their country, say Pyongyang-based papers today in signed articles dedicated to the 28th anniversary of the abolition of a U.S. military base in Libya.
The author of a Rodong Sinmun article says:
The imperialists, regarding Libya as a thorn in their side for its anti-imperialist independent stand, have persistently tried to make the Libyan people shrink from the road of their own choice.
With no isolation and suffocation moves, however, can they break the will of the Libyan people.
The Libyan people, convinced of the validity of their cause, are dynamically advancing along the road of their own choice under the guidance of colonel Moammer El Gaddafi, leader of the Great September First Revolution, repulsing the anti-Libyan moves of the imperialists.
A signed article of Minju Joson says that the recent victory of the Libyan people in confrontation with the imperialists over the "lockerbie incident" clearly demonstrates their unbreakable anti-imperialist independent stand and will.
Statement of NDFSK spokesman
Pyongyang, June 11 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the National Democratic Front of South Korea (NDFSK) in a statement published on June 9 on the occasion of the 11th anniversary of the June popular resistance urged the patriotic-minded South Korean people from all walks of life to preserve the valuable experience of the resistance and fight united as one, the Seoul-based radio Voice of National Salvation reported.
He said that the June resistance involving more than 5 million people of different social standings was recorded as one more brilliant chapter in the history of anti-American, anti-dictatorial patriotic movement.
Referring to the despicable flunkeyist act of the present ruling forces, he further said:
This treacherous act is a mockery of the June popular resistance.
The national democratic forces with the working people at the head should wage a powerful struggle for the abrogation of the evil labour law and "National Security Law", the dissolution of the "Agency for National Security Planning" and the release of prisoners of conscience and thus drive the "people's government" out of power.
They also should develop the anti-government democratic struggle into an anti-American, anti-outsider independent struggle to put an end to the U.S. colonial domination and interference and to the trusteeship of the International Monetary Fund and, at the same time, launch a nationwide movement for independence and reunification.
S. Korea continues purchasing weapons from U.S.
Pyongyang, June 11 (KCNA) -- The South Korean regime made a contract with the United States to purchase dlrs 8.2 billion worth of weapons and has imported F-16s, harpoon missiles, multiple rockets launchers, etc. From the United States on a stage-by-stage basis, according to a radio report from Seoul.
Now the regime owes the United States dlrs 1,370 million in arms deal. The United States wants South Korea to pay off the debt within two years.
The arms purchase by the puppet regime is an anti-nation act showing how frantic it is in war preparations against the north.
"Constitutional amendment" likely to spark discord in S. Korea
Pyongyang, June 11 (KCNA) -- Kim Yun Hwan, vice-president of the South Korean opposition "Grand National Party," told a press conference on June 8 that the agreement between the "National Congress for New Politics" and the "United Liberal Democrats" on "constitutional amendment for cabinet system" which led to the establishment of the coalition "government" is unlikely to be implemented, a Seoul-based radio said.
If the coalition "government" brings forward "constitutional amendment" again, it will be confronted with objection of the "GNP," he added.
His remark indicates that the issue will spark a fresh strife in the South Korean political camp.
The ruler of South Korea, in the hope of defeating the candidate of the then ruling party in the "Presidential Election" in December last year, joined hands with the "ULD," promising Kim Jong Pil, a "Yusin" remnant, to revise the "constitution" for cabinet system in the middle of his term if he came to power.
The "GNP" objection will be favorable to the ruler, who is seeking to monopolize power.
At a recent press conference, Kim Jong Pil contended that a political reform for "cabinet system" based on the "multi-party structure" should be carried out because things are not going well under the present system. His remark is apparently a token of discontent with the ruler, who may break his promise.

Japanese authorities' abuses of DPRK denounced
Pyongyang, June 11 (KCNA) -- The spokesman for the Foreign Ministry of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea was interviewed by KCNA today over the results of search for Japanese missing persons made public by the DPRK Red Cross Society recently.
The spokesman said:
From the humanitarian point of view, the Red Cross Society carried out a searching operation with sincerity for five months, taking into account Japan's request for information as to whether there are Japanese missing persons in the DPRK or not.
The results of the searching operation, however, prove that none of the Japanese missing persons has been in the DPRK.
Asked by the Red Cross Society, authoritative government organs of the DPRK carried out the searching operation in a responsible way in cooperation with it. The Japanese government was officially informed of the results of search through an appropriate channel.
Originally, Japan attempted to charge the DPRK with being "kidnapper" by raising outcries over the "suspected kidnapping" of Japanese persons by the DPRK.
But it is real kidnappings that the Japanese imperialists took millions of Koreans to Japan before the liberation of Korea and Kim Dae Jung was abducted in Tokyo in the '70s.
Japan, which is recognized as a perpetrator by history and the international community, gravely insulted the DPRK's sovereignty and dignity with outcries over "kidnapping" in a bid to paint itself as a victim. Its hostile act can never be tolerated.
Though the Japanese authorities cancelled the word of "suspected kidnapping" and requested the DPRK to find out missing persons, the results of search finally prove that their missing has nothing to do with the DPRK, either.
As we have stated, the normalization of DPRK-Japan diplomatic relations and food assistance are not compulsory.
It is a legitimate right of the Korean people to make Japan compensate for its past crimes and it is the unswerving will of the DPRK government to exercise the right by all means.
