Dangerous moves to become military power = KCNA commentary =

Pyongyang, June 12 (KCNA) -- The Japanese defence agency reportedly decided to take part in the development of the "Theatre Missile Defense (TMD) System" and began discussions with the United States. Originally, the united states proposed joint development of the TMD system to Japan. For its thin technical feasibility and a colossal amount of money needed for it, however, Japan has gone ahead with only a technical study with a little investment under the pretext of "Japan-U.S. joint study." but it is now entering a full-fledged stage of development including the manufacture of accessories. Japan is alleging that the decision is part of "defence steps" to counter nuclear missiles with increasing "international fear of possible nuclear proliferation" caused by nuclear tests of India and Pakistan. The allegation is only aimed at fooling international public opinion. What Japan is really seeking in the development of the TMD system is to modernize military equipment with the backing of the united states and gain military supremacy in the whole of Asia. Japan already carried out h-2 space rocket launching tests several times under the pretext of the "development of the space." h-2 rocket is capable of delivering nuclear warheads and striking any target on the globe. Japan has technologies enough to manufacture nuclear weapons any time and has stockpiled large quantities of plutonium. Nobody can predict what Japan, which has already made full preparations to possess strategic nuclear missiles, will do after the development of the TMD system. What is clear is that the Japanese reactionaries want to gain military upperhand and establish their sphere of domination in the Asian region by gratifying their ambition for converting Japan into a military power. However, they are seriously mistaken. Asia is not what it was when the Japanese imperialists were marching with the sun flag in their hands, singing the army song. The Korean and other Asian people are closely watching the reckless military buildup of the Japanese reactionaries and will take strong measures to counter them.

Japan accused of fooling Asian nations

Pyongyang, June 12 (KCNA) -- The Japanese government is covering up the militarist nature and danger of the legislative arrangements related to "emergency in areas surrounding Japan," while alleging that they are not a "geographical concept." In a commentary Rodong Sinmun today says the sinister and aggressive nature and purpose of the legislative arrangements are illustrated by the fact that Japan intends to legalize overseas dispatch of the "self-defence forces" and satisfy its old ambition for a "Greater East Asia Coprosperity Sphere." It is natural that Asian nations are taking a serious view of the legislative arrangements. The Japanese reactionaries, who have already had the capacity of overseas aggression from the material and military point of view, are trying to legalize military operations outside the Japanese boundary through the legislative arrangements allegedly to cope with "emergency in areas surrounding Japan." Most of the Asian nations including Korea will never tolerate their anachronistic design of overseas aggression. The Japanese reactionaries must stop trying to realise their militarist desire by fooling the Asian nations with a third-rate trick.

Struggle for national independence against outside forces called for

Pyongyang, June 12 (KCNA) -- Kuguk Jonson, an organ of the central committee of the National Democratic Front of South Korea (NDFSK), carried an article titled "June 3 Uprising, today's realities." The article said that the June 3 Uprising, which occured with the treacherous "South Korea-Japan talks" as an occasion 34 years ago, demonstrated the patriotic will of South Korean people to defend the dignity of the nation against domination and subjugation by outside forces. It further said: The uprising shows that as long as colonial domination by outside forces continues, the banner of national independence should not be lowered but lifted higher and the struggle for independence of society should be conducted to the last. The present regime appointed as acting Prime Minister a pro-Japanese traitor who signed the treacherous "South Korea-Japan agreement," and has unhesitatingly committed pro-Japanese flunkeyist crimes. Present developments call for relentlessly conducting a powerful anti-outside forces struggle under the banner of national independence. The students and patriotic people from all walks of life should daringly rise in the struggle for national independence against outside forces, inheriting the spirit of the June 3 Uprising.

Aid-begging trip

Pyongyang, June 12 (KCNA) -- The present ruler of South Korea begged for investiment in South Korea at the New York stock exchange, according to a radio report from Seoul. He told the leading U.S. banking officials that the second exchange crisis would not occur in South Korea. He said it is high time for them to invest in South Korea, and asked them to make active efforts for this. While trying to introduce foreign capital to save the economy which has gone bankrupt owing to foreign capital, the puppet clique is allowing foreign businessmen to buy South Korean enterprises. It is clear to any one that the introduction of foreign capital leads to the further dependence of the key industries of South Korea and harsh colonial plunder. The begging for investment under the situation shows that the present ruler is a dirty traitor who puts his preceding dictators to shame.
