Kim Il Sung will always live in hearts of all people

Pyongyang, July 2 (KCNA) -- President Kim Il Sung had devotedly worked for the people's wellbeing, national prosperity and world peace and security to the last moment of his life. S. Batacharaya, General Secretary of the Revolutionary Socialist Party of India, stressed this in an interview with the KCNA correspondent in New Delhi on June 25. He said the unexpected death of President Kim Il Sung at an important time of the struggle of the Korean and world people for Korea's reunification and world peace and security, was the greatest loss and sorrow of humankind. For his deep love for and devotion to the people and for his distinguished services to the human cause of justice, peace and socialism, the president will always live in the hearts of all the people, he said. He said the revolutionary cause of the president is now being creditably carried forward in all fields of socialist Korea under the tested leadership of Kim Jong Il, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea.

Kim Jong Il is nominated as candidate for SPA

Minju Joson warns against U.S. attempt of aggression

Pyongyang, July 2 (KCNA) -- A few days ago, the U.S. Secretary of Defense, William Cohen, said that the U.S. Forces should continue to remain in the Asian region including South Korea and that the United States would develop the "system of security alliance" with the South Korean puppets and the Japanese reactionaries. Commenting on his outbursts, a news analyst of Minju Joson today says: Cohen's remarks are a wanton challenge to the unanimous demands of all the Korean people and world's peaceloving people for the withdrawal of the U.S. troops from the Asian region including the Korean peninsula and a serious act going against the trend of the times heading for peace and detente. Bellicose forces of the U.S. military are openly blaring that they will continue to station the 100,000 U.S. troops in Asia and that they will keep the presence of its troops in South Korea even after the Korean peninsula is reunified. This shows that their scheme of aggression is invariable. Theirs is an anachronistic design. The United States would be well advised to look straight at the trend of the times and get its troops out of South Korea and other Asian region as early as possible.

Japan not qualified to get permanent seat on UN Security Council

Pyongyang, July 2 (KCNA) -- During his overseas tour the Japanese foreign minister claimed that Japan should become a permanent member of the UN Security Council. Rodong Sinmun today describes his behaviour as impudent. The news analyst says: The Japanese authorities' insistence on permanent membership of the UN Security Council with an advertisement of Japan's "international responsibility" and "role" is a shameless act of those who do not mind their p's and q's. Japan has brought immeasurable misfortune and pains to humankind. It, therefore, is not qualified to get a permanent seat on the UN Security Council by nature. In addition to this, it still remains an "enemy state" in the UN Charter. Japan's insistence on permanent membership of the UN Security Council, is a mockery of and challenge to justice and conscience of humankind. To become a permanent member of the UN Security Council is not the kind of issue which can be settled as desired by Japan itself. If Japan truly values international justice and conscience and is interested in world peace, it should clear off the past before anything else.

Solidarity with Korean people expressed in India

Pyongyang, July 2 (KCNA) -- A meeting of representatives of political parties and public organizations in India was held in New Delhi on June 26 to mark the month of international solidarity with the Korean people. It was cosponsored by the Asian regional committee for supporting Korea's reunification, the All India Indo-Korean Friendship Association and the Indian Committee for Supporting Korea's Reunification. Speakers at the meeting urged an end to the U.S. imperialists' military occupation of South Korea and denounced the South Korean rulers' policy of division and confrontation. They renewed their determination to crush the imperialists' moves against the DPRK and expressed full support to the South Korean people in their struggle for national reunification, democracy and vital rights. The meeting adopted an appeal to the Indian people and the world's peaceloving people. The appeal expressed full support for all the proposals and efforts of the DPRK to reunify the country by means of confederacy under the five-point policy of great national unity advanced by General Kim Jong Il and build powerful socialism. It strongly urged the United States to immediately stop its aggressive moves and hostile policy towards the DPRK and replace the armistice agreement with a peace accord in the interests of the Korean people and the world people. It called upon the world's peaceloving people to fully support the Korean people's just struggle for national reunification.

Pullout of U.S. troops demanded

Pyongyang, July 2 (KCNA) -- The U.S. troops should withdraw from South Korea, taking along their nuclear weapons, to open the road of Korea's reunification. The world federation of trade unions said this in a statement published on June 23 to mark the month of international solidarity with the Korean people. In the statement the federation called upon workers, trade unions and democratic forces of all countries to intensify solidarity with the Korean people in the struggle for peace and reunification of the country. The statement extended full solidarity to the DPRK in the efforts to clear away the aftermath of years of severe natural disasters. It also expressed full support and solidarity with South Korean workers in their struggle for the abrogation of the reactionary, evil laws, dissolution of big businesses and ensuring of living conditions.

Bank clerks' sit-in in S. Korea

Pyongyang, July 2 (KCNA) -- An estimated 1,500 clerks of Dong Hwa Bank in South Korea, who would certainly be dismissed, launched a sit-in in Seoul on June 28, said a radio report from Seoul. The bank trade union declared that the strike would continue for an indefinite period unless the "government" withdraws mandatory transfer at once and takes a clear-cut step for employment. It also said that they would refuse to work if a measure is not taken for existence of unionists to be dismissed. In this regard, the South Korean confederation of trade unions made public a statement, in which it rejected the bank reform with no measure for employment and called for a strict step for their existence. The confederation also urged an immediate stop to such unilateral and mandatory financial reform.

DPRK, country for people

Pyongyang, July 2 (KCNA) -- The word "people" is a symbol of love and dignity in Korea in which the people are masters of the state and society. This word is attached even to the names of the country and the state power organ. There are also many honorary titles, schools, hospitals, organs, monumental edifices and others named with the word "people" in Korea. Among them are people's actor and actress, people's scientist, people's hospitals and the Grand People's Study House. Benevolent politics for people is enforced and true culture for people is efflorescing and developing in Korea. This is the true look of Korean society centred on the people. More than 200 countries with different social systems exist in the world. However, there is no such a country in the world as the DPRK which provides people with all happiness, holding them dearer than others. This pride of the Korean people comes from worship for them of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, the great leaders who have devoted all to them, regarding it as their motto to believe in them as in heaven. Kim Jong Il said that the people are the best, the greatest and the most beautiful in the world, so he ardently worships them. Recorded in history are anecdotes about statesmen and great men who engaged themselves in good government for the people. But, there is no such a statesman or great man in the world as Kim Jong Il who raised it as the fundamental question of political philosophy to believe in people as in heaven. It is thanks to his worship and leadership for the people that the Korean people have become dignified and happy people and the DPRK has served the people. The DPRK, taking it as the supreme principle of state activities to improve the welfare of the people, devotes all social wealth to the happiness of the people, with the result that all of them live a happy life under systems of free education and free medical treatment services without any worry about food, clothing and housing. Whatever others may say or no matter how the situation may change, the Korean people are performing fresh achievements in production and construction to further consolidate the anthropocentric socialist system whose advantages they have keenly felt through their experience in life.

People's government very instrumental in completing socialism

Pyongyang, July 2 (KCNA) -- The people's government established in the northern half of Korea serves as a mighty political tool of the revolution and construction= it is very instrumental in consolidating and developing socialist system and winning the final victory of socialism. Rodong Sinmun says this in a signed article today. First of all, the people's government plays a political role in rallying all the people behind the Workers' Party of Korea and the leader and strengthening the driving force of revolution steadily. It imbues the people with the Juche idea and the line and policies of the WPK, which are the embodiment of the idea, and leads all the members of society to think and act anytime and anywhere as desired by the party. All its policies, measures and activities are for materializing the ideas of the party and the leader and ensuring their guidance. It is also a political tool with which to encourage the people to push ahead with the revolution and construction with revolutionary zeal and creative ingenuity. It fully guarantees the rights to independence of the popular masses so as to lead them to have a high honor of being the masters of the state and society and discharge the responsibility and role as such. It leads the people to take an active part in socio-political life so that they may keenly feel the justness of the party line and policies and carry them out. It is also a tool of class struggle which is very instrumental in frustrating the anti-socialist campaign of imperialists and reactionaries. The government of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea concentrates on checking the ideological and cultural poisoning of the imperialists and reactionaries, building up the people's army and developing the nation's war industry though everything falls short of need and difficulties crop up. The energetic efforts of the people's government greatly help toward leading the whole society to attach importance to military affairs and building the class position of Korean socialism into an impregnable fortress.

National independence, essential for hewing out destiny of nation

Pyongyang, July 2 (KCNA) -- Defending and realizing national independence is essential for hewing out the destiny of the nation, says Rodong Sinmun in a signed article today. The daily notes: What is important in carving out the destiny of the nation independently is above all to resolutely struggle against domination and intervention of outsiders and splittist forces. The Korean nation has been divided into the north and south by outsiders, and its destiny has not yet been independently hewed out on a nationwide scale owing to domination and intervention of outsiders and all the anti-national moves of the splittist forces. Therefore, the entire nation should turn out in the struggle to remove the main obstacles in the way of working out the destiny of the nation. It is also important to solve all the problems in keeping with the interests and aspiration of one's nation and in accordance with the view and faith of one's nation. National interests should be judged correctly in view of the requirement of the nation for independence, and the independent interests of the nation should be defended and all things opposed to them be thoroughly rejected in settling all the problems. It should not be allowed to neglect and encroach upon the right of one's nation to independence. In order to hew out the destiny of the nation with one's own view and faith, one should have the will to settle one's problem with one's own efforts in a responsible manner. And one should always set in motion independent thinking power to judge by oneself, establish independent view and carry it through. What is important in hewing out the destiny of the nation creatively is first of all to oppose dogmatism and settle all the problems in keeping with the specific conditions of the country and the nation. To this end, one should support and carry out the new theories, principles, lines and policies that give a clear exposition of the theoretical and practical problems arising in hewing out the destiny of the nation.

Rodong Sinmun on Japan's shameless attitude

Pyongyang, July 2 (KCNA) -- Japan's insincere attitude towards its past crimes has drawn worldwide criticism, says Rodong Sinmun today. The daily says in an article: "Japan has impudently embellished and justified the war of aggression unleashed by the Japanese imperialists against Asian people in the past. "High-ranking officials of the Japanese government are openly justifying the Japanese imperialists' aggression, slaughters and plunder, the fact which is enough to show Japan's immorality and brazen-facedness. "Japan has also refused to honestly apologize and fully compensate for its crimes and fostered revanchism and militarism among its people." The daily refers to Japan's wrong position concerning the "comfort women" issue and to the Japanese authorities' unreasonable utterances stressing the necessity of visit to the "Yasukuni Shrine." They, who are going against the trend of the times and international relations, must ponder over the serious consequencies to be entailed by their refusal to compensate for the crimes, the daily urges.

"Surprise southward invasion" proved false

Pyongyang, July 2 (KCNA) -- The U.S. imperialists unleashed a war to invade the northern half of Korea on June 25, Juche 39 (1950), and alleged that North Korea made a surprise attack first. Their allegation proved false= It was meant to cover up their true colors as the provoker of the Korean War. The Japenese version of a book "Tragic History of Korean War", published in the United States, says the world people laughed with scorn at the fiction of the "surprise southward invasion" made by the U.S. imperialists, adding that Washington claimed that there the invasion was unexpected, though it could have been informed of the preparation of such an attack through information and that it was funny that the u.s. Intelligence service failed to sniff preparations of such an impressive military action as that across the 38th parallel in Korea. The then U.S. Central Intelligence Agency and its spy networks could not feel military preparations by north Korea for a "surprise attack" because North Korea did not launch such an action at all. In this regard, Robert, who was leading the then group of U.S. military advisors in South Korea, told journalists on May 28, 1950, that there were no signs of reinforcements of North Korean army along the 38th parallel." (the Japanese version of a book "The U.S. and Korean War" published in the U.S.) Macarthur, the then commander of the U.S. Forces in the far east, referring to the outbreak of the Korean War at a hearing of the U.S. senate foreign relations committee in May, 1951, said that the North Korean army was far off the 38th parallel. Its deployment was for defense and not for offensive." (the Japanese book "Korean War"). All this proves the U.S. imperialists' argument about "surpirse attack" false.
