Kim Jong Il sends open letter to voters

Pyongyang, July 12 (KCNA) - Genereal Secretary Kim Jong Il today sent an open letter to all voters throughout the country. The letter reads in full:

Open letter to all voters throughout the country
I was nominated as candidate for the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly (SPA) at the meetings of voters which were held recently at all constituencies throughout the country to nominate their SPA candidates. I think this is an expression of deep trust of all voters in our Party and a manifestation of the unshakable faith and will of our people and People's Army soldiers to make our socialist country more prosperous and carry forward the Juche revolution generation after generation under the Party's leadership. I extend warm thanks to all voters for expressing deep trust in me. For a revolutionary, there is no greater honor and happiness than to enjoy the people's trust and serve them. True to President Kim Il Sung's noble idea of loving the country and the people, I will devotedly work for the country and the people and live up to the people's deep trust and expectation. I have agreed to be registered as SPA candidate at constituency No. 666 for the 10th Supreme People's Assembly Election because the DPRK law on the election to People's Assemblies at different levels stipulates that one constituency shall register one candidate. Our DPRK Government is a genuine people's government built by our people under President Kim Il Sung's leaderships It is also a powerful weapon in the cause of socialism. The 10th SPA election is an important political event that is of historic significance in strengthening the people's government and consolidating the socialist system as required by the new stage of our revolution that is characterized by inheritance to the cause of President Kim Il sung. All voters should take part in the election with the high honor and pride of DPRK citizenship and elect those who serve the people faithfully as deputies to the SPA so that the superiority of our socialism and the powerful wholehearted unity of our society can be demonstrated and our revolutionary government be consolidated. Kim Il Sung's work published in booklet in Laos

Pyongyang, July 12 (KCNA) -- "Answers to the Questions Raised by the Editor-in-Chief of the Indonesian Newspaper Media Indonesia," a famous work of President Kim Il sung, was brought out in booklet by the Lao State Publishing House on July 6 on the occasion of the fourth anniversary of his death. The work was published on September 1, 1992.

Korean books donated to India

Pyongyang, July 12 (KCNA) -- A Korean book-donating ceremony took place at the All-India Youth Federation on July 4 on the occasion of the fourth death anniversary of President Kim Il sung. The DPRK Ambassador handed the first and second volumes of the anti-Japanese revolution, part 1 of the President's reminiscences "With the Century." The chairman of the All-India Students Federation said at the ceremony that the Youths and Students of India will deeply study the President's reminiscences to learn from his revolutionary life.

S. Korea deploys long-distance transport helicopters

Pyongyang, July 12 (KCNA) -- CH-47D long-distance Transport helicopters brought from the united states were deployed in south Korea on July 8, a Seoul-based radio said. The former "civIlian"-veiled "government" owed the United States 1.37 billion dollars in arms deal. But the self-styled "government of the people" concluded another contract for purchasing weapons worth 8.2 billion dollars with the U.S. imperialists. Their deployment of the transport helicopters shows that their moves to screw up the situation are reaching a very dangerous stage.

U.S. should accept DPRK's proposal for new peace mechanism

Pyongyang, July 12 (KCNA) -- The Egypt-Korea Friendship Association published a statement on July 5 to mark the month of international solidarity with the Korean people. The statement said that the United States must discard its Korea policy, a legacy from the Cold War era, withdraw its troops from south Korea, improve the DPRK-U.S. relations according to the DPRK-U.S. Joint Statement and framework agreement, and respond as soon as possible to the DPRK's proposal for building a new peace-keeping mechanism on the Korean Peninsula. "The cease-fire has not yet been turned into a durable peace on the Korean Peninsula and distrust and confrontation between the north and south have still continued" the statement said. "this is entirely attributable to domination and intervention of outsiders, anti-reunification forces' dependence on outsiders and policy of confrontation against the north." The Arab Art, Culture and Information Association of Egypt in a statement published on the same day referred to the moves of the anti-reunification forces to keep Korea divided. It expressed solidarity with the Korean people in their struggle for the independent and peaceful reunification of the country.

Reception given in North Hamgyong Province

Pyongyang, July 12 (KCNA) -- The North Hamgyong Provincial Committee of the DPRK-China Friendship Association gave a reception on July 11 to mark the 37th anniversary of the signing of the DPRK-China treaty of friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance. Invited to the reception were Consul General Zhang Min and officials of the Chinese consulate general in Chongjin. Present there were Vice-Chairman Kim Chol Gun of the North Hamgyong Provincial Administrative and Economic Committee who is chairman of the North Hamgyong Provincial Committee of the DPRK-China Friendship Association and officials concerned. Speeches were made at the reception.

Guns should be turned on U.S. troops

Pyongyang, July 12 (KCNA) -- The Patriotic Soldiers Fellowship Society in Scouth Korea published an article calling upon the puppet army soldiers to turn their guns on the U.S. troops, according to Kugukjonson, the organ of the Central Committee of the National Democratic Front of South Korea. The article said that the puppet army is a colonial mercenary army necessary to maintain the colonial rule of the United States and carry out its policy of aggression on Korea. That is why many officers and men were sent to the Vietnam War on the orders of the united states, died there or are now suffering its sequela, it noted. They are forced to level guns at the fellow countrymen in the north. It stressed that the puppet army soldiers should rise up in the sacred war to annihilate the Yankee aggressors, the cause of the misfortune and suffering of the nation, in the event of contingency.

Voters' lists made public in DPRK

Pyongyang, July 12 (KCNA) -- Election committees of sub-constituencies across the country made public the voters' lists on July 11 with the approach of the election of deputies to the Tenth Supreme People's Assembly. The lists were worked out on the basis of the rules of the law on election of deputies to people's assemblies at all levels of the DPRK. They contain all citizens with the right to elect, who are residing in relevant areas.
