Put on display are some 100 art pieces including Korean paintings, oil paintings and posters which show immortal revolutionary exploits of President Kim Il Sung and the leadership traits of Supreme Commander Kim Jong Il of the Korean People's Army. Typical of them are "evening of victory in war" and "giving the grit of marksman."
Jang Chol, vice-Premier of the Administration Council and Minister of Culture and the Arts, was present at the opening ceremony.
International delegation of youths and students interviewed in Korea
Pyongyang, July 25 (KCNA) -- The members of the international delegation of youths and students calling for the demolition of the concrete wall were interviewed by reporters in Pyongyang on July 24.
Harchand Singh, General Secretary of the World Federation of Democratic Youth, said that they had come to Korea to see at first hand the concrete wall and feel the tense situation on the Korean peninsula.
The South Korean authorities are scheming to perpetuate the division of the country at the instigation of the United States, he said. Their moves can never be overlooked.
He also said there is no just reason and pretext for the U.S. troops to remain in South Korea now and that the United States must withdraw its troops and nuclear weapons from South Korea at once.
Turning Korea's reunification issue into a worldwide one is a very timely question at present, he noted.
The world federation of democratic youth will actively support and encourage the Korean people and youths in their struggle to reunify the country, he added.
Charge d'affaires ad interim of the Syrian embassy here Bassam Al-Haji Hussein who is a delegate of the revolutionary youth of Syria, and Jose Ramon Rodriguez Sisilia, a delegate of the union of young communists of Cuba, in their speeches expressed full support to and solidarity with the Korean people, youths and students in their struggle to pull down the concrete wall and achieve the independent and peaceful reunification of the country.
A joint friendly gathering with the members of the delegation took place on the same day.
Obstacles should be removed first
Pyongyang, July 25 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today lambastes the South Korean rulers for trying hard to check the opening of the August 15 Grand Pro-Reunification Festival by dint of the anti-reunification fascist "National Security Law," the "Agency for National Security Planning" and the "Ministry of National Unification."
Neither a successful opening of the festival nor reconciliation, cooperation and reunification between the north and the south can be expected without the elimination of "NSL," "ANSP" and such traitors as Kang In Dok, "Minister of National Unification," the daily says in a commentary, and continues:
"NSL" defines the north as an "anti-state organization" and the fellow countrymen in the north as "enemy," criminalizes contact and exchange between people of the north and the south and charges South Korean champions of reunification with "benefiting the enemy." as long as the South Korean rulers maintain "NSL" it is impossible to successfully hold the festival.
"ANSP" is the general headquarters of fascism, plot and inter-Korean confrontation that suppresses the South Korean people desirous of independence, democracy and reunification. It is "ANSP" that cracked down on eight pan-national rallies for the country's peace and reunification, festivals of the national alliance of youth and students for the country's reunification, and all other pro-reunification events held in South Korea in recent years.
The Kang-bossed clan of the "Ministry of National Unification" is a group of anti-north, anti-reunification elements who can no longer be left unpunished. Kang is an ultra-rightist and separatist antagonizing the north.
It is he who schemes to exclude pro-reunification, patriotic organizations from this year's august 15 festival and form for the festival a "council" which is considered to be a "government"-controlled organization in every respect.
The institutional mechanisms and the traitors opposed to reunification should be removed.
ay of second liberation
Pyongyang, July 25 (KCNA) -- The Korean people observe July 27 as the day of the second liberation.
July 27 is a historic day when the Korean people won a great victory in the Fatherland Liberation War (June 25, 1950-July 27, 1953).
The United States provoked the last Korean war and planned to occupy Pyongyang and Wonsan at one sweep and move up to the Amnok and Tuman rivers as soon as possible in a bid to occupy the whole northern half of Korea.
From the first day of the war its plan was shattered to pieces by the counterattack of the Korean People's Army.
The KPA ensured high mobility and employed various methods of war, including encirclement warfare, mountain warfare, night actions and the combination of large and small units to deliver wholesale death to the U.S. aggressors.
In a month or so after the outbreak of the war the people's army destroyed the main force of the South Korean puppet army and the U.S. imperialist aggressors and liberated more than 90 percent of the southern half of Korea and more than 92 percent of the population.
The enemies expanded the war stage by stage through a "new offensive" and "summer and autumn offensives" designed to recover themselves from the crushing defeat, boasting of numerical and technical advantages.
The heroic soldiers Korean People's Army dealt a heavy blow at the enemies in a large number of battles, including those on Wolmi Island, heights 1211 and 351 and on Mt. Wolbi and a battle on the sea off Jumunjin.
The defeat of the U.S. in the three-year-long Korean war drove them into a tight corner.
The U.S. loss of manpower and materials was nearly 2.3 times that in the Pacific War during the Second World War.
Driven to the last ditch, the U.S. yielded to the heroic Korean people on July 27, 1953, and signed the armistice agreement.
The Korean people, therefore, won a great victory in the Fatherland Liberation War.
The victory won by the Korean people under the wise guidance of President Kim Il Sung humbled the U.S. who were boasting of being the "strongest" in the world and shattered to smithereens the myth of their "mightiness."
Military attaches visit Panmunjom
Pyongyang, July 25 (KCNA) -- The military attaches' corps in Korea visited Panmunjom on July 24 to mark the 45th anniversary of the victory of the Korean people in the Great Fatherland Liberation War.
The attaches looked round the ceasefire negotiation room and the room where the armistice agreement was signed. They were told that in the war the Korean people were the first in history to defeat U.S. imperialism, which had boasted of being the "strongest" in the world, and to wrest a letter of surrender from it.
They looked at the monument dedicated to the last signature made by President Kim Il Sung on a historic document for national reunification in his lifetime.
They also inspected the conference room of the defunct military armistice commission and other places in Panmunjom.
The attaches then visited a unit of the Korean people's army and looked at the concrete wall built by the U.S. imperialists and the South Korean puppet clique along the Military Demarcation Line.
Friendship meeting with embassy officials
Pyongyang, July 25 (KCNA) -- A friendship meeting with cultural and friendship-related officials of foreign embassies was held here on July 24 to mark the 45th anniversary of the victory of the Korean people in the Great Fatherland Liberation War.
Prior to the meeting, the participants laid flowers at the revolutionary martyrs cemetery on Mt. Taesong and the monument to the victory in the Fatherland Liberation War.
They then saw the sixth part "immortal feats, great victory" of the Korean documentary film "the Fatherland Liberation War."
They had a friendly talk.
On behalf of the foreign embassy officials, Stanislaw Skowron, councillor of the Polish embassy, said leader Kim Il Sung was an invincible, determined commander and brilliant military strategist in that he victoriously led the three years of hard-fought war.
S. Korean authorities urged to accept just demand of women
Pyongyang, July 25 (KCNA) -- A spokeswoman for the Central Committee of the Korean Democratic Women's Union published a statement to the press on July 24 as regards the miserable plight of the South Korean women getting worse under the anti-social misrule of the authorities depending on the outsiders.
Unemployment in South Korea has put the women in a more glooming position, she said. This is an inevitable consequence of the U.S. imperialists' colonial domination and the South Korean rulers' anti-social misrule.
The South Korean women should valiantly join in the labour movement and other mass movements for vital rights and democracy, establish contact with workers, students and people of other social standings and wage a joint struggle with them, she said, adding: the South Korean rulers must unconditionally accept the just demand of the workers and women for vital rights and democracy and stop the unjustifiable suppression of the labour movement at once.
Songdowon International Children's Camp
Pyongyang, July 25 (KCNA) -- Camping began at the Songdowon International Children's Camp this year.
Schoolchildren from China, Russia, Nepal, Thailand, Mongolia, Tanzania and other countries are enjoying themselves together with Korean schoolchildren.
The camp is located in Wonsan, a scenic city on the east coast of Korea.
The campers are consolidating their knowledge, building up their physical strength and deepening feelings of friendship at the camp, a centre of all-round after-school activities.
The camp covers an area of 300,000 square metres.
It has campers'houses reminiscent of a vessel sailing on the ocean, a house of culture, a dinning hall, a park and other facilities. It can accommodate more than 1,200 campers for a term.
The International Children's House of Friendship is well furnished with a 1,200-seat theatre, a computer game room, a table-tennis room, a mountaineering and maritime knowledge dissemination room, a drawing room, a library and other facilities.
The camp was opened in April Juche 82 (1993). Tens of thousands of schoolchildren have since then enjoyed a camping life.
The camp is the fruition of deep loving care of Kim Jong Il, who is regarding children as the "king" of the country.
He proposed to build the camp and directed the construction on several occasions. He saw to it that the best facilities were supplied to the camp. When the building of the camp was completed, he visited the camp and put forward tasks to be carried out in its management and operation.
Kim Jong Il cables Fidel Castro Ruz

The message said:
The attack on the Moncada Barracks made by Cuban revolutionaries 45 years ago under your command was a signal event in the history of the Cuban people's revolutionary struggle.
The Cuban people are now striving hard to defend the achievements of the revolution they made at the cost of blood under the correct leadership of the CPC led by you and steadily advance the socialist cause.
Availing myself of this opportunity, I wish you and the fraternal Cuban people greater achievements in the efforts for defending the country, revolution and the gains of socialism and express the belief that the traditional relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries will continue developing on good terms.
We cannot overlook U.S. military moves = KCNA statement =
Pyongyang, July 25 (KCNA) -- The Korean Central News Agency was authorized to release the following statement today denouncing the United States for deploying huge aggressor forces on the sea off the Korean peninsula:
Recently, the United States announced that nuclear-powered carriers including Carl Vinson belonging to the U.S. Pacific Command, some 20 nuclear-powered attack submarines, various types of warplanes and troops were being deployed on the sea off the Korean peninsula.
It also reportedly decided to issue an alert order to all operational areas of the U.S. Pacific Command including the Korean peninsula as an emergency step to intensify intelligence and lookout for the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
South Korean media and local and foreign public have described the ill-boding military moves as "unprecedented" and "exceptional."
The United States never massed such huge nuclear military equipment and forces on the sea off the Korean peninsula even when the "Pueblo" and "EC-121" incidents occured and when a political vacuum was created and popular uprisings took place in South Korea. Any situation and conditions on the Korean peninsula donot require the deployment of such sophisticated war means.
In the DPRK all the people and servicemen are vigorously accelerating the forced march for the final victory with a high degree of political zeal for the historical election to the 10th Supreme People's Assembly. Koreans at home and abroad are busy preparing the August 15 Grand Festival for National Reconciliation, Unity and Reunification.
The U.S. military moves are very dangerous military actions which can be seen only on the eve of war. They are an undisguised military provocation and a reckless war declaration against the DPRK and unpardonable crimes challenging all the Koreans' desire for the peace and peaceful reunification of the country.
It is nobody's secret that the united states would start aggression on and interference in other countries with moving of huge sea operational forces. It is illustrated well by the Persian Gulf War.
In view of this trite method, the deployment of huge armed forces near the Korean peninsula makes the world people suspect that it is the dispatch of an advance contingent for the provocation of a nuclear war on the peninsula.
Such military movement of the United States is doubtless an open violation of the DPRK-U.S. agreed framework in which it promised not to use its nuclear weapons against us nor pose nuclear threats to us.
We cannot remain a passive onlooker to its wrong attitude toward us.
This year alone, it has reorganised its armed forces present in South Korea into a wartime system and frantically staged large-scale military exercises in various names in and around South Korea. When viewed with this fact, the on-going movement of huge armed forces predicts that the situation will be rendered more serious.
We bitterly denounce, in the name of all the Korean people, the reckless provocative moves of the United States to press the button of a nuclear war after tensioning the situation on the Korean peninsula with armed forces equipped with nuclear weapons.
The situation like the eve of war created by them with this military movement to the sea near the Korean peninsula is designed to threaten with strength the Korean people who are dynamically waging the forced march for the final victory of socialism with the might of singlehearted unity and to check with the help of armed forces the explosive crisis of its colonial government in South Korea which is worsening with the economic bankruptcies and political confusion.
Military threat and pressure, however, can never be omnipotent.
Our people and people's army under a great iron-willed brilliant commander are not frightened by any aircraft carrier or nuclear weapon.
Their revolutionary stamina is characterized by response to strength with strength and war with war.
Though the United States avoids fulfilling the unavoidable framework agreement with the DPRK and tries to make up for it with strength, we can never tolerate it.
When the U.S. wields a stick, we also have the right to wield a stick.
The U.S. must not think the military option is its monopoly.
It is a matter of course that when the offender has the right to choose, the victim also has the right to choose.
The U.S. must stop the arrogant military threat at once, withdraw their aggressor forces and ensure peace on the Korean peninsula.
The South Korean puppets must not act rashly.
Attempt to hurt fellow countrymen with the backing of foreign aggressors is a treason and leads to suicide. The anti-national efforts of the puppets who brand the fellow countrymen as "main enemy" and beg for help of outside forces will face a thousandfold retaliation and end in disgraceful ruin.
We will make the South Korean puppets pay dearly for their treacherous acts.
if the U.S. imperialists and the South Korean puppets encroach on the dignity and sovereignty of the DPRK even a bit, our army and people will pour bullets, shells and bombs on the aggressors and traitors even if the earth may break, so as to wipe them out and reunify the country.
