Election under way in DPRK
Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- Election to the 10th Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK is under way with success, the voters taking part in balloting with high revolutionary enthusiasm, the central election committee announced.
As of twelve today, 91.42 percent of the registered voters had taken part in balloting.
Three-party talks for August 15 festival held
Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- Working-level talks were held on July 21 between the north, south and overseas preparatory committees for a "Grand Festival for National Reconciliation, Unity and Reunification."
The north and overseas preparatory committees accepted the agenda items of the talks proposed by the south preparatory committee as its delegate could not participate in the talks owing to the obstructions of the South Korean authorities. The talks were to be held in Beijing.
The talks discussed the prevailing situation concerning the festival, measures for it and programs and adopted an agreement.
It was agreed at the talks that the festival shall be held at Panmunjom on August 14 and 15 on the theme of great national unity and the reunification of the country and its keynote be firstly the principle of national independence and love for the country and the nation secondly, national reconciliation and unity and improvement of inter-Korean relations, thirdly, contact, dialogue, solidarity and alliance of the whole nation, and fourthly, the building of a reunified country by means of confederacy.
It was also agreed to hold a joint meeting for unity of compatriots, an art festival for national reunification, a photo and fine art exhibition a joint art performance for reunification and other events and also have events separately in the north, south and abroad.
The three parties agreed to hold the next working-level talks around August 5 and ensure the participation in the festival of all the political parties, public organisations and individuals in the north, south and abroad that agree upon the theme and keynote of the festival.
Papers call for strengthening DPRK government
Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- Papers here editorially call on all the voters to participate in today's election to the 10th Supreme People's Assembly (SPA) and vote for the candidates.
Rodong Sinmun says the history of the people's government is a glorious and brilliant history of the wise guidance and imperishable feats of the great party and the great leader.
Leader Kim Il Sung, on the basis of rich experience and foundations of government building established in the rigorous anti-Japanese revolution, set up the best revolutionary government of Juche type in the world after the country was liberated and successfully guided it for 50 years, the daily says, and continues:
The respected Kim Jong Il has smashed the imperialists' moves to isolate and stifle the DPRK, defended its sovereignty and delivered the Korean people out of the life-and-death crisis.
For the Korean people the homeland is Kim Jong Il and vice versa. All our servicemen and people, deeply aware of this, nominated him as candidate for the spa and are taking part in the historic election with deep trust in him.
Today's election is an important occasion in fully demonstrating the powerful singlehearted unity of our revolutionary ranks around him.
All the party members, servicemen and working people should participate in the election with a strong determination to always remain unfailingly loyal to him and exalt the exploits of the party and the leader for all ages.
Minju Joson says that bright is the prospect of the DPRK led by Kim Jong Il and unshakable is the will of the Korean people to accomplish the socialist cause.
Latest-type destroyer deployed for actual battle
Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- The South Korean puppet hawks deployed a 3,000-ton class destroyer of the latest type for actual battle on July 24, a Seoul-based radio said.
They said that the destroyer, equipped with various kinds of missiles and torpedoes, is the flagship of the puppet naval tactical mobile detachment.
The deployment came few days after the puppet Defence Minister, Chon Yong Thaek, told journalists that the north will remain the "main enemy" of the south until the reunification of the two halves of Korea and that the "basic duty of the army is to cope with a war."
This shows that the "people's government" is dancing to the tune of its master, the U.S. imperialists, in frantic new war provocation moves.
Senior officials take part in election
Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- Senior party and state officials have joined the voters in the election to the Supreme People's Assembly (SPA) at different sub-constituencies today.
Vice-President Ri Jong Ok voted for Ri Hwa Ju, a workshop leader of the Sunchon Vinalon Complex= Vice-President Pak Song Chol for Kim In Hwa, a workshop leader of the Pyongyang Daily Necessities Combine= Vice-President Kim Yong Ju for Jo Yun Je, chairman of the management board of the Songmun Cooperative Farm in Samsok district, Pyongyang= Vice-President Kim Pyong Sik for Ri Sung Thaek, manager of the Pyongyang General Printing Plant= Vice-Premier and Foreign Minister Kim Yong Nam for Kang Jong Bong, a workshop leader of the Jaeryong Mine in South Hwanghae Province= Secretary Kye Ung Thae for Kim Kwang Ok, a workshop leader of the Nampho General Smeltery= Secretary Jon Pyong Ho for Kim Yong Bok, deputy chief engineer of the Nampho Ship-Building Complex= and Secretary Han Song Ryong for Jo Pok Hui, director of the Boiler Repair Shop of the Chongchongang Thermal Power Station.
Other senior officials of the party, the state and the army also voted for SPA candidates, that is, officials, servicemen, workers, farmers and working intellectuals.
Election continues in DPRK
Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- The election to the 10th Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK is now going on at all constituencies across the country, the central election committee announced.
According to it, 98.87 percent of the registered voters took part in balloting as of 2 p.m.
Mobile ballot boxes were used for electors who were unable to go to polling booths due to old age, diseases, etc.
Servicemen vote for Kim Jong Il
Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- Officers and men of the Korean People's Army (KPA) registered at constituency no. 666 today voted for General Secretary Kim Jong Il, in the election to the 10th Supreme People's Assembly.
KPA vice marshals Jo Myong Rok, Kim Yong Chun, Kim Il Chol and Choe In Dok joined them in the balloting at its sub-constituencies.
The servicemen put voting cards bearing the august name of the Supreme Commander into the ballot boxes, reflecting the unanimous desire and loyalty of all the servicemen and people of the country.
After casting their votes for him, the electors shouted "Long live the respected Supreme Commander comrade Kim Jong Il "
They then danced and sang songs in a festive mood.

Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- The central election committee announced that the election to the 10th Supreme People's Assembly of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea was being held successfully.
According to it, all the registered voters, except those who are abroad or on ocean, took part in the balloting as of 6 p.m. July 26.
Mobile ballot boxes were used for those who were unable to go to the polls due to old age, diseases, etc.
