U.S. citizen expelled = KCNA report =

Pyongyang, August 28 (KCNA) -- A competent organ of the DPRK expelled U.S. citizen Lee Kwang Dok on August 28, Juche 87 (1998). After receiving an espionage task from an agent of the "Agency for National Security Planning" of South Korea, he came to the DPRK allegedly for a joint venture company. He was caught red-handed on may 27 while committing such crimes as alluring citizens of the DPRK into South Korea, spying on the actual conditions of the DPRK and distributing anti-DPRK propaganda materials. For his acts of seriously infringing upon the sovereignty of the DPRK, he should have been severely punished according to our law. However, our organ concerned decided to fine him and expel him from the DPRK because he honestly admitted and apologized for his crimes and the U.S. government requested it to show leniency for him, a U.S. citizen, taking into account his old age and illness. We allowed the U.S. side to have a consular access to him in accordance with a tentative agreement on consular protection signed in December 1994 between the DPRK and the United States and provided him with all humanitarian help such as medical treatment and exchange of letters with his family members. The U.S. side expressed thanks for this. We will never pardon those who try to hurt our socialism but will sternly punish them according to the law of the DPRK

U.S. warned not to act rashly

Pyongyang, August 28 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today accuses the United States of overtly making provocative military action against the DPRK and rendering the situation on the Korean peninsula extremely strained. The news analyst says: The U.S. move to use force against the DPRK is prompted by their intention to invade the DPRK out of reckless war psychology. More than once have we warned the U.S. that use of force cannot work on the DPRK and will only result in negative effect. The army and people of the DPRK have a proud record. They won in the three years of the Fatherland Liberation War, shattering the myth about "mightiness" of U.S. The United States has got nothing but defeat and disgrace from confrontation with the DPRK. The U.S. must no longer foolishly try to test our strength. If the U.S. unleashes war against the DPRK, we will mercilessly annihilate the aggressors on this land. The U.S. had better ponder over what price it will have to pay for the use of force against the DPRK.
