Greetings to Kim Jong Il from Cambodian King

Pyongyang, September 14 (KCNA) - General Secretary Kim Jong Il received a message of greetings from Cambodian King Norodom Sihanouk on Sep. 6 upon his reelection as Chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK and the 50th birthday of the DPRK. The message said that since its foundation the DPRK with a history of half a century had won victories in all aspects along the road of independence, the most correct and glorious road, defending its dignity and sovereignty under the wise guidance of Kim Il Sung who is the most outstanding and immortal President of the DPRK. Kim Jong Il has made decisive, great and important contributions to the state building of the Korean nation, the message said, adding: Under his guidance the valuable and fraternal relations of friendship between Korea and Cambodia will be everlasting in the future, too.

NDFSK delegation interviewed

Pyongyang, September 14 (KCNA) -- A delegation of the National Democratic Front of South Korea (NDFSK) to celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the DPRK called a press conference at the Pyongyang mission on Sep. 12. Ri Kang Sok, member of the Standing Committee of the NDFSK Central Committee who is heading the delegation, extended greatest glory and warmest respects to General Secretary Kim Jong Il, lodestar of national reunification, on his election to the highest position of the DPRK, carrying the unanimous loyal mind of vanguard fighters and patriotic people in South Korea. He said that General Secretary Kim Jong Il has moved all the people of the world by administering great politics of loyalty and filial piety to the fatherly leader president Kim Il Sung after the greatest state funeral in the history of 5,000 years. The grand celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the DPRK were an epitome of shining development of Juche Korea and a demonstration of the great unity of the leader, the party and the popular masses and the might of a strong and prosperous country, he said. Celebration meeting of Koreans in Russia

Pyongyang, September 14 (KCNA) -- A meeting of Korean organizations in Russia was held in Moscow on Sep. 10 to celebrate the reelection of General Secretary Kim Jong Il as Chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK. Speeches were made after a report by Ro Yong Jin, vice-Chairman of the United Confederation of Koreans (Kothongryon) in Russia and chairman of Kothongryon in Moscow, at the meeting. The reporter and speakers mentioned the proud route of the DPRK under the wise guidance of the President Kim Il Sung and General Secretary Kim Jong Il and the advantages of the socialist system in Korea. A bright future and eternal prosperity of a strong socialist country are in store for the country and the nation with Kim Jong Il in the highest position of the state, they said. They expressed their resolution to take an active part in the patriotic work for national reunification and the prosperity of the country. A letter to General Secretary Kim Jong Il was adopted at the meeting.

The 50th birthday of the DPRK was a grand festival of socialist victors which demonstrated the might of Juche Korea which has won victory after victory, the editorial says, and continues: With this anniversary brilliantly adorned, a great success was made in resolutely preserving the revolutionary character of the DPRK as the state of the President Kim Il Sung. The anniversary marked an epochal occasion in building a powerful socialist state under the guidance of General Secretary Kim Jong Il. We are now faced with an honorable task of build a powerful state of Juche that has the greatest strength in ideological, political, military, economic and all other aspects. Inexpressible obstacles lie in our way of accomplishing this vast task. However, we have all politico-ideological, military and economic potentials to build a powerful state. Floral basket from President of Democratic Congo

Pyongyang, September 14 (KCNA) -- Raurent Desire Kabila, President of Democratic Congo, sent a floral basket to the DPRK embassy in his country on Sep. 8 congratulating General Secretary Kim Jong Il on his reelection as Chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK and on the 50th founding anniversary of the DPRK. Written in the ribbon hanging on the floral basket are letters "please accept my best wishes for happiness of your excellency comrade Kim Jong Il and prosperity of your country."

Artificial satellite "Kwangmyongsong No.1" makes 100 rounds of the earth

Pyongyang, September 14 (KCNA) -- The artificial satellite "Kwangmyongsong no.1" which had been launched in Korea at 12:07 on August 31 made 100 rounds of the earth between 08:24 and 11:17 on September 13. In the 100th period the satellite passed the DPRK in the air 220 kilometres high via the sky above the northern part of Hawaii, Chile, Argentina and other South American countries, the Atlantic ocean, Namibia, Angola, Democratic Congo, Ethiopia, Pakistan and China. The first artificial satellite of the DPRK successfully made 100 rounds of the earth, demonstrating the potentials of the DPRK which is accelerating the development of the space, an area of ultra-modern science of humankind, in reliance upon national strength and advanced science and technology. The artificial satellite is expected to be seen with the naked eye when it is passing the DPRK in early October.

Greetings to 17th Congress of Communist Party of India

Pyongyang, September 14 (KCNA) -- The Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea sent a message of greetings to the 17th Congress of the Communist Party of India today. The message congratulated the party on its 17th Congress and expressed the conviction that the congress will make great contributions to the strengthening and development of the party as well as the struggle for independence against imperialism and for socialism.
