U.S.-Japan military tie-up against DPRK
Pyongyang, September 25 (KCNA) -- Cohen, Secretary of Defense of the United States, and Nukaga, director general of the Defence Agency of Japan, had a confab at the pentagon on September 21 to strengthen military tie-up between them, according to a report.
Discussed at the confab were concrete contents of the joint development of the criminal "theatre missile defense system" and enactment of a bill "in an emergency" around Japan.
It is not secret that the joint development is part of U.S.-Japan preparations for a war against the DPRK and the enactment of a bill "in an emergency" is to implement the new "guidelines for U.S.-Japan defense cooperation", a document of a war of aggression on the Korean peninsula.
Their military tie-up invites deep concern and denunciation from the world public.

Rodong Sinmun flails anti-DPRK, anti-Chongryon rackets in Japan
Pyongyang, September 25 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today comes out with a signed commentary lashing out at anti-DPRK, anti-Chongryon rackets being staged in all parts of Japan.
The commentary says:
The Japanese reactionaries and right-wing gangsters are further intensifying smear campaigns against the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon). This is part of their moves to stifle the DPRK and a deliberate and premeditated political trick to threaten Chongryon and Koreans in Japan and hinder their patriotic activities.
What is intolerable is the fact that the Japanese authorities are conducting vicious anti-Chongryon rackets when they are inciting anti-DPRK feelings in Japanese society, crying that the DPRK fired a "ballistic missile", not an artificial satellite.
While spreading "fear of missiles" in Japanese society, they are fostering violent acts and hostilities against Chongryon and Korean nationals in Japan. This is an offspring of the extreme anti-DPRK hostile policy aimed at an ulterior political purpose.
They must clearly know the seriousness of the situation, arrest those responsible for criminal acts and take an immediate step to prevent the recurrence of hostilities and suppressive campaigns against Chongryon and Koreans in Japan.
We will follow future acts of the Japanese authorities.
U.S. hit for frantic anti-DPRK campaign
Pyongyang, September 25 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today runs a signed commentary denouncing the U.S. for trying hard to stifle the DPRK with continued slander on the DPRK.
The news analyst says:
Of late the spokesman for the U.S. Department of State took issue with the DPRK, going on about verification of "underground nuclear facilities" in the DPRK and "threats of attack" on the U.S. proper with multistage missiles capable of carrying small nuclear warheads. The U.S. Secretary of Defense, Cohen, made identical remarks.
Their allegation is that the DPRK has built "underground nuclear facilities" and launched an artificial satellite, demonstrating its capacity of attack on any target on the earth, which poses "threats" to the U.S. it cannot be construed otherwise than a shameless argument reversing black and white.
The U.S. argument came after the DPRK said that the underground structure in the Nyongbyon area is a civilian one and it launched artificial satellite for peaceful purposes, not a "ballistic missile." The argument is an unpardonable encroachment upon the sovereignty and dignity of the DPRK.
The U.S. has a lot of nuclear facilities, produces large quantities of nuclear substance and possesses a huge amount of nuclear warheads and carrier rockets. It is stepping up the militarisation of space through the launch of espionage and military satellites. What is the U.S. act like in view of the U.S. logic?
By bringing forward the fiction of "threats" the U.S. seeks to justify its campaign to stifle the DPRK and find an excuse to give further push to the militarisation of space.
For the U.S. to talk about the "threats" by the DPRK is the height of impudence.
Whether the DPRK's launch of artificial satellite is used for military purposes or not entirely depends on the attitude of the U.S. and other hostile forces.
The U.S. had better stop advertising the fiction of "threats" from the DPRK and look squarely at the developments.
Inevitable product of criminal intention = KCNA commentary =
Pyongyang, September 25 (KCNA) -- The Japanese Authorities are kicking up a row over the launch of the first artificial satellite in the DPRK.
On September 22, the director-general of the National Police Agency of Japan told a national meeting of chiefs in charge of guard that the DPRK launched a "missile" and that the launch is a "seditious movement." He instructed the chiefs that they must pay greater attention to "future movements" and that they must take a measure to cope with "terrorist acts by north Korea and others."
Worse still, he alleged that north Korea is engaged in "intelligence activities" and urged them to tighten control over these activities.
As is known, after the DPRK launched an artificial satellite, Japan, having no proper information about this, kicked up a row, alleging that it was the "launching of a missile." Even today when the DPRK made an official announcement about the launch and the world acknowledges it, only Japan is repeating its old allegation.
Such frantic acts are, in essence, an inevitable product of the criminal design to realise the anachronistic hostile policy toward the DPRK and step up Japan's militarisation.
This is proved by bellicose movements in Japan= rumours about "threats of missiles" are being spread, hostile feelings against the DPRK and Japan-resident Koreans are being openly incited, the Japanese authorities agreed on joint technical research into the Theatre Missile Defence (TMD) system with the United States= and calls for launching a reconnaissance satellite are being made.
The Korean people and the world's peace-loving people will never pardon misbehaviours of Japan, which is openly making anti-DPRK hostile moves and putting spurs on its militarisation instead of apologizing and compensating for the immeasurable sufferings it had imposed upon Korea and other Asian nations.
17th Congress of CPI on Korean people's revolutionary cause
Pyongyang, September 25 (KCNA) -- A political resolution adopted at a plenary meeting of the 17th Congress of the Communist Party of India on Sept. 18 referred to the revolutionary cause of the Korean people.
It said that the DPRK is now successfully stepping up socialist construction to suit the specific conditions of the country.
The DPRK is frustrating the U.S threats, overcoming natural disasters such as flood damage and firmly maintaining the policy of national reunification in spite of the anti-reunification moves of the united states and the South Korean authorities, the resolution stressed.
Korean people's cause of reunification supported by participants in 5th international peace race
Pyongyang, September 25 (KCNA) -- Participants in the 5th International Peace Race held in Sweden expressed support to the Korean people's cause of national reunification.
They expressed deep concern over the tense situation of the Korean peninsula caused by the moves of the United States, Japan and South Korean authorities and evinced a resolution to conduct the international movement for solidarity with the Korean people's just struggle.
During the race a sub-committee for solidarity with Korea was organized and an appeal to the world peace-loving people was adopted.
The appeal called upon the peace-loving forces of the world to extend active support and solidarity to the Korean people in their just struggle to achieve the independent and peaceful reunification of the country by the concerted efforts of the whole nation.
"Pot of Namyang Type" unearthed
Pyongyang, September 25 (KCNA) -- The work to find out remains of a large village site dating back to the period of ancient Korea is going on at Namyang-ri, Tokchon, South Phyongan Province, Korea.
A pot of a new type has been unearthed. Scientists decided to call it "Pot of Namyang Type" which is considered to be 3,500 years old.
It is like a gourd with upper and lower parts cut. The outline of its body is oval and the wall and bottom are not distinctive. Protuberant handles are symmetrically attached to its middle.
It, made of such soft soil as mud, is black and gray.
Triangle-type patterns are carved in its upper and middle parts. The inside of the patterns had been polished.
The discovery of the pot helps to make it clearer that Pyongyang area was a cradle and a centre of Tangun's Korea and ancient Korea's culture.
Big hazel trees
Pyongyang, September 25 (KCNA) -- Botanists of Korea have obtained success in research into the ecology of big hazel trees.
They adapted the trees of foreign origin to the climatic and soil conditions of Korea.
The hazel grows up to 4-8 metres high and has 8-12 trunks. Its flower comes into bloom between February and march and fruit ripens between late September and early October.
The tree grows even in relatively sterile land and does not want much water.
It is of high economic value.
Hazelnut is used as food for longevity and as raw material of food processing industry. Its nutritive value is twice that of grain and 1.5 times that of pork.
It is efficacious in curing arteriosclerosis, nephritis, hypertension, inflammation by burn and other diseases.
Hazel leaves can be used as feed of domestic animals and material of dyestuffs.
S. Korean authorities should act with discretion =KCNA commentary=
Pyongyang, September 25 (KCNA) -- A criminal attempt of the South Korean authorities to harm and stifle the north, with the help of their master, is getting all the more undisguised with each passing day. On the 22nd of September, the South Korean "Ministry of National Defence" described the north's launch of artificial satellite as "missile threat" from the north and had discussions with officials of the Japan Defence Agency about a "joint countermeasure proposal of South Korea and Japan."
The South Korean authorities' anti-north conclave in Seoul with the Japanese reactionaries who are pursuing the hostile policy towards the DPRK, claiming that the artificial satellite launch is a "missile launch," is a crime which deserves curses and indignation of the whole nation.
The successful launch of artificial satellite is a great pride of the nation, a historic event in which all the Koreans in the north, south and overseas can see the future of the prosperous country with confidence. Many friends of the world, as well as the Korean people, have been struck with admiration at it. The South Korean authorities should have been pleased and proud of the world-startling event of the fellow countrymen. No sooner had the news of the artificial satellite launch been reported than they felt uneasy about the launch. As a result of this, they convened a "meeting of security-related officials," cried for "adoption of South Korea-U.S. joint countermeasure" and hatched a plot with the Japanese reactionaries. Their acts are the height of treason.
It is the deep-rooted bad habit of the South Korean authorities to blindly follow foreign forces and to do harm to the fellow countrymen.
All the facts prove that the self-styled "government for the people" takes the road of confrontation with the fellow countrymen as its predecessor did.
Confrontation with the fellow countrymen leads them to ruin. The South Korean authorities must be aware of this.
They should stop fawning on and following outsiders and doing harm to the fellow countrymen and reject outsiders, hand in hand with the fellow countrymen out of the stand of national independence.
One-day coverage among people
Pyongyang, September 25 (KCNA) -- A South Korean freelance, Yun Il Mu, published an article titled "one-day coverage among people", according to the Seoul-based radio Voice of National Salvation.
The article carried what South Korean people felt on September 6 when they heard the emotional news that General Secretary Kim Jong Il was reelected to the top post of state of the DPRK.
According to the article, people of different social standings in the south of Korea are struck with admiration for the loyalty and filial piety of Kim Jong Il, who saw to it that the great Kim Il Sung is upheld as eternal President of the DPRK.
Students said Kim Jong Il's reelection is the greatest fortune and highest honor of the Korean nation, and expressed their resolve to follow him, entrusting their destinies and future to him.
Old men and women said their feelings are the same as 50 years ago, when the DPRK was founded and Kim Il Sung was elected its head of state. They ardently hoped that Kim Jong Il, who is a living image of Kim Il Sung, will take care of and lead the people.
Artistes said that they would be the first to give an art performance for Kim Jong Il, who will come to Seoul when the country is reunified.
Restaurants in Seoul offered special free services in celebration of his reelection.
The author said September 6 was a day of happiness when the reverence for Kim Jong Il, the father of the nation and the great sun of the 21st century, grew higher and higher among South Korean people like torrents of lava.
Tour of Mt. Kumgang should not be blocked
Pyongyang, September 25 (KCNA) -- With the approach of the day when tour of Mt. Kumgang begins under an agreement between the National Economic Cooperation Federation of the DPRK and a non-governmental economic organisation of South Korea, efforts to block it are underway in South Korea.
In this regard, the spokesman for the Korean Asia-Pacific Peace Committee released a statement on September 24.
On June 22, an agreement was adopted on cooperation of the federation and the "Hyundai Business Group" of South Korea in tour of Mt. Kumgang.
The statement says:
The "National Assemblymen" from the "Grand National Party" and the "United Liberal Democrats" and some right-wing elements in South Korea are submitting a "petition" for a stop to the tour of Mt. Kumgang. They held a "rally to call for a stop to the tour of Mt. Kumgang" in a bid to build up public opinion against the tour.
Mt. Kumgang of Korea is well known to the world for its fascinating, mysterious and scenic beauty.
We, considerate of the ardent desire of the South Koreans to see Mt. Kumgang, a pride of the nation, have provided them with a chance of the tour of Mt. Kumgang with compatriotic feelings.
Anyone who truly wants national reconciliation, unity and reunification and feels extremely grieved for the misfortunes and pains of the fellow countrymen should welcome this compatriotic step of the north, give great help for its successful realisation and make all sincere efforts to reunify the country through the tour.
The "National Assemblymen" from the "Grand National Party" and the "United Liberal Democrats" of South Korea, however, are employing every conceivable technique to block the tour as well as national reconciliation and unity.
The South Korean right-wing reactionaries who deal in distrust and confrontation, rejecting the compatriotic help from fellow countrymen, are a herd of traitors to the nation.
