He denounced the anti-DPRK moves of the Japanese government and went on to say: The successful launch of an artificial satellite "Kwangmyongsong No. 1" displayed the level of the DPRK's science and techniques and it was an inspiring event in the era of independence. Where is truly instable region? =KCNA commentary=

Pyongyang, October 18 (KCNA) -- Commander-in-chief Joseph Prueher of the U.S. Pacific Command reportedly told a press conference on October 15 that as "North Korea is the most instable region" in Asia, the U.S. and South Korea should "be in combat readiness." His utterances reversing black and white were meant to provide a justification for the projected military manoeuvres of the U.S. and South Korea. In actuality, the recent situation on the Korean peninsula is more dangerous than before. Who is to blame for it? Clear is the answer. The U.S. and South Korean authorities are engaged in ceaseless large-scale military manoeuvres in South Korea. Some time ago, they brought Kitty Hawk, the main aircraft carrier of the U.S. 7th Fleet, to anchor at Pusan Port. They plan to stage unprecedented-in-scope military manoeuvres against the DPRK under simulated conditions of "emergency" on the Korean peninsula from October 24. All this eloquently proves that South Korea is, indeed, a truly instable region and that the instability is attributable to the manoeuvres of the U.S. the insane anti-DPRK diatribe of the commander-in-chief of the U.S. Pacific Command tarnishing his public image goes only to betray the true colors of the U.S. which is a source of the instability.

Statement of DPRK Foreign Ministry spokesman hailed

Pyongyang, October 18 (KCNA) -- The Egyptian newspaper Al-Ahram on Thursday carried an article on the October 13 Statement of the DPRK Foreign Ministry spokesman. In the article titled "North Korea threatens to restart its nuclear program unless Washington implements framework agreement" the paper wrote: The Foreign Ministry of North Korea declared that Pyongyang is taking into serious consideration the restart of its nuclear program, which has been frozen under the framework agreement concluded with the United States in 1994, because Washington does not implement the agreement. In this connection the Egyptian Foreign Ministry published a statement on October 14, which said the U.S. has not pushed ahead with the construction of light water reactors nor tried to improve the bilateral relations with the DPRK, although the two sides agreed upon them. The statement recalled the fact that Pyongyang declared if Washington's policy is to break the framework agreement whose implementation has been delayed, the DPRK has no intention to keep it from doing so, the paper said.

The paper charged that the incident is not merely a criminal one, but a reactionary terrorism committed, synchronised with the continued anti-DPRK, anti-Chongryon campaign which is getting more frantic with each passing day after the DPRK's launch of an artificial satellite. On October 16, first vice-chairman So Man Sul of Chongryon called on the bereaved families and local officials to express deep condolences. Rodong Sinmun on utterances of pro-Japanese stooge

Pyongyang, October 18 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today comments on recent remarks of the "Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade" of South Korea that "Japan is fully qualified to become a permanent member of the UN Security Council." In a signed commentary titled "absurd utterances of pro-Japanese stooge," the paper says: Such remarks can be made only by those who are dyed thoroughly with the pro-Japanese flunkeyist and treacherous idea and who do not know humiliation or disgrace. Japan is a diabolical aggressor, plunderer and sworn enemy of the Korean people, who had committed thrice-cursed crimes against them during its 40-odd-year-long occupation of Korea. And it is a criminal state which ignited a war of aggression and wrecked the peace and stability of humankind. It is the only "enemy state" in the world that has not yet admitted, apologized nor compensated for its past crimes. It is now trying to get a permanent seat of the UN Security Council in a criminal attempt to convert itself into a political and nuclear power so that it can become a "leader" of Asia and the world again. If such wicked design of Japan is allowed, it goes without saying that the world people as well as the Asian people will experience calamities. This notwithstanding, the south Korean authorities are trying to curry favour with the Japanese reactionaries, alleging that Japan is "qualified" to become a permanent member of the UN Security Council. Their utterances are the height of shame. This proves that the South Korean authorities are colonial authorities who have no iota of independence and human conscience.

Absurd utterances

Pyongyang, October 18 (KCNA) -- High-ranking officials of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party, one-time cabinet ministers of Japan, flatly denied the crimes Japan committed against Korea in the past and voiced opposition to repentance and apology for them, and we cannot tolerate their utterances at all, says Rodong Sinmun today. The news analyst says: Ex-director general Takami Eto of the management and coordination agency, speaking at a meeting of high-ranking officials of the LDP, said there was no Japan's colonial rule over Korea. Former Minister of Foreign Affairs Taro Nakayama described the repentance for the past as an error. The utterances of the reactionary ruling quarters of Japan are an unbearable insult and challenge to the Korean people, who were deprived of their country by the Japanese imperialists in nearly half a century and whose heart-breaking pains caused by them still remain. By denying the Japanese imperialist colonial rule over Korea Eto and Nakayama seek to bury the past crimes in oblivion, refuse to liquidate the past and repeat it. To deny the past colonial rule over Korea is one more crime and the height of shamelessness. Japan should get rid of base mind at an early date .
